  Just back from a relaxing week here at the club hotel in Nerja. We arrived mid-afternoon, check in was quick and efficient and given a room on the second floor which was a good size with a view of the hills, side view of the sea. Overall impression was good. Room was cleaned daily to a good standard and new towels provided when required. Food wise, we always found something decent to eat in the hotel, although pork seemed to be on the menu every day, different meats would have been good. Evening mealtime was a lot less busy than on a morning. The morning breakfast was a very busy time with a lot more people. Breakfast was ok, sausages were not for me I don't do the spicy sausage on a morning. Plenty of choices, English breakfast or continental, I mainly stuck to the eggs and then fresh fruit with Greek yoghurt. Happy hour at the bar between 4 - 6pm pint of larger 4.50 for 2 beers. Pool area was clean as was the main pool. Sunbeds were busy but there were spares stacked up if you needed one. Location, when we booked, we knew it was hilly. What I didn't expect was not a single bar or a little cafe around the hotel. The hotel is in a residential area. People said about bars been in a complex called El Zoco up the road we walked up to find the place deserted. The nearest cafe/bar was a good 10 - 15-minute walk away. Two large supermarkets outside of the hotel. The Carrefour hotel sells good sandwiches. Overall impression of the hotel is it could do with a paint to the exterior. Inside is a completely different story with a smart modern appearance. We found all the staff to be very pleasant.

  Nice quiet hotel, friendly staff especially on reception. The town centre and balcon de europa are walkable distance about 20 min away. Burriana beach is short distance but due to steep hill tiring to walk back in heat, ended up getting taxi for 10 euro. Decent selection of food for breakfast available. Rooms were perfect with balcony facing the the back of hotel. The mercadona is across the road, very handy. Good value for money.   We are currently staying at this hotel and very pleasantly suprised after reading negative reviews. Check in was smooth and speedy. Our room was larger than we expected, we do have an economy room but don’t need a balcony due to the very nice pool area (to follow). We could do with more coat hangers and the bathroom could do with a refurb, but everything works well, the shower is very powerful and we have a bidet. The bed is very comfortable and the room is clean with a small fridge and kettle.Breakfast again was a nice suprise, we were quite late down but there was still a good choice, pancakes and fried eggs being cooked fresh. Nice decaf coffee. I was quite disgusted sitting next to a couple, the lady was filling a shopping bag full of food wrapped in serviettes, bread and even plates and cutlery. We are not staying for evening meal so cannot comment.The pool area is very nice but guests seem to ignore the notice to not leave your towels on the subbed, we were next to two beds that had their towels on and didn’t appear until mid afternoon. The sports bar attached to the hotel is lovely, good food and drinks and happy hour two for the price of one is 4 to 6pm, a nice start to the evening. A very nice bar.To sum up our first two days, I would say that the hotel is above our expectations, some of the guests leave a lot to be desired. Do not expect 5 star luxury, enjoy the place for what it is and respect the hard working staff.Also 2 great supermarkets across the road are great to look round.Nerja is the most beautiful place and the walk into town discovering the back streets before you hit the jaw dropping Balcon is a joy, there are lovely tapas bars to be found.   A Nostalgic Review

  We used to love this hotel and visited one or twice a year for 10 years. We loved that it was quiet and peaceful with lovely views over the pool and beyond. The walk for us into town was just right and to the beaches, Maro, the caves, and Aqueduct, just beautiful scenery but on the outskirts on Nerja so not good if you cannot walk very far. People moan about the distance to town but you should do your research. We liked that each year the staff recognised us and even a member of staff on his scooter waved to us when we were walking into town. Our room requests were always met and we felt we were valued as returning guests. Its been a few years since we visited as we have warmer climates to visit but our hearts still lie in Nerja. I do look at the reviews of this hotel periodically it saddens me that it is appears its not the place it once was. I want to come back for nostalgic reasons, would we have to pay extra for our preferred rooms now? , will any of the staff we met over many years still be there. i wonder..... should i take a gamble.......
