This familial hotel is located in the holiday resort of Maro just 1.2 km from the nearest fine sand beach. A restaurant lies within metres of the hotel and the town of Nerja which offers scores of shops, nightclubs and bars. Nerja can be easily reached by bus; public transport services depart from a stop lying just 100 m from the hotel.

I am so happy and pleased that we stayed here; I’m really glad we chose this place. Here are my detailed thoughts after our stay:The price was incredibly low compared to nearby hotels and aparthotels, and it offered much more value.After checking in online, your room number and door code are automatically sent to you—it’s fast, practical, and very convenient.The room was amazingly nice, clean, and spacious. The one we stayed in also had a large balcony, which is great for relaxing in the evening if you like.It’s about a 7–8 minute taxi ride to the center. Uber costs around €17 on average, which is pretty much the only downside as commuting back and forth gets a bit pricey. I would strongly recommend renting a car instead, as you can get very good cars for just €10 a day.The nearest beach is Playa de Maro, and we went there every day during our 5-day stay. It’s a maximum 8–9 minute walk and is a beautiful, clean cove. You can rent a sunbed and umbrella together for €6. The beach itself is free, so you can just sit on the sand if you prefer. There’s a café where you can get food and drinks, or you can buy your own supplies from a market.There is a small pool on the top floor of the hotel with views of the surroundings and the sea. We never used it since the sea was more enjoyable for us.If you head into the center of Nerja, you’ll find plenty of restaurants and pubs to enjoy your time.There are 2 or 3 nice restaurants around the hotel. Restaurant Maro (full name: Hogar Y Centro Social Maro) and a casual seafood spot in the side street called Bar El Rincón de la Tapa, where you can eat incredibly delicious, fresh, and cheap fish.The side streets and the surrounding area are lovely. We walked around and found some great spots for photos.The most famous beach in the center of Nerja, Playa Burriana, is about 7–8 minutes away by Uber

First of all, it has the potential to be a great hotel, location is ideal and the hotel room was big with a large terrace balcony. However, there were plenty of issues that customers need to be made aware of.Firstly, the A/C unit was leaking and left our balcony flooded and a bucket was left that we had to empty ourselves throughout our stay. There was no towel or bedding replacements during our stay. Bins weren’t emptied and we did not know where we could take our rubbish. The rooftop pool is supposed to be a non smoking area, but cigarette butts and ash completely covered the floor under the loungers meaning footwear had to be worn at all times. The pool ladders had also come loose which caused my pregnant wife to fall into the water when she lost her footing when the ladder moved from underneath her.Hairs on the bedding upon arrival and lights not working.The condition of the balcony was sub par with the turf peeling up where it had been flooded causing a tripping hazard and tiles along the balcony were smashed.No parking for the hotel and the carpark across the road is manned throughout peak times and was very difficult to park (not the hotels fault but something to keep in mind)Lastly but the biggest deal breaker in my opinion. The kitchen knife provided had actually separated from its handle and caused me to cut my hand while trying to prepare our dinner on our first night, not a great way to start a holiday.All in all, the hotel need a serious look at to review whether the product served is the product advertised as there was a lot of issues that could have been addressed before our arrival when we were made aware of our room being ready.

Do not book this hotel!!!!I have travelled to a lot of places and this is not good.Why?The online check in is absolutely terrible.They do not clean rooms or even fresh towels.If you return after midnight you have to have a code to get in and that after an hour checking in was not given to us.If you go no reception and online only then be online!!!There are better options in Maro.

We spent a week at the PlayaMaro Hotel and absolutely loved it! The hotel has a rustic charm , a little old-fashioned, but full of character. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect, safe, and right in the beautiful village of Maro. Food was tasty, and the atmosphere felt authentically Spanish. A great choice if you’re looking for genuine hospitality and a true taste of Spain.

Good - and easy to make it even better

Good location for the beaches at Maro and quieter than Nerja. Maro village is nice and we had good evening meals there. The pueblo needs to crack down on the very obvious drug dealing in the streets.Our rooms were nice with a generous balcony. It was clean. But-you need to take your own things for making coffee _ there is a hob and a microwave-when we turned the air con, the fuse blew. _the front door had been left wide open one afternoon when we got back. We were unable to close it after us.We were there off season. Hopefully things are better organised during high season. If so, it would be avery nice place to stay.
