Provided a very nice family holiday.

Family holiday was fantastic. Great hotel, generally very clean. The drink token idea is excellent as it keeps the pool area very tidy. Great location to explore restaurants and the beach.Food was pretty decent, snack bar very tidy and good food, drinks also good.Only real negative was that the beds are very hard and uncomfortable. A five star experience.

    rating26 May 2026

We are currently in the Sol Príncipe having checked in last Sunday and honestly I have not one bad word to say about this hotel. The check in process was smooth, Rafael behind the desk was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. He ran through the best spots for food and things to do. He explained everything in great detail and provided us with key cards that allowed us access to the hotel despite being three hours early for check in which meant we got to leave our luggage, explore and also visit the pool. The breakfast is exceptional. Everything is fresh, tastes wonderful and is clean. We ate dinner here one night and I wish we went all inclusive now - lots of choice, freshly grilled meats and fish replenished regularly. It was a delight to eat there. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The room is beautiful. We are lucky to have a sea front room on the eighth floor. The cleaning staff are wonderful too. The room is spotless and fresh. The location is great too with two entrances, one to the Main Street and one that goes directly to the beach. We love the pool on the beach side as it’s quieter but still fun. The main pool is busier, still very lovely. There are numbers of drunk families who sit chain smoking which is less than ideal but I think you’d get that everywhere to be honest. A huge highlight is the night entertainment which two adults and a nine year old have looked forward to every night. The performers put their absolute all into it and you can see just how much fun they’re having. I particularly enjoyed Circo Grande, what a performance. I smiled and laughed the whole way through. It’s our first time staying in this hotel and I know we will absolutely be back. The spa like environment is just beautiful and relaxing, I really am so thrilled that I picked this hotel. We have three days left and I am already thinking about when we can next visit. Hotel Manager, Owner at Sol Principe, responded to this review Dear guest, We greatly appreciate your positive review of your stay at Sol Príncipe. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed aspects such as the service received, the room, the breakfast and the hotel's facilities. It is especially rewarding to hear that the evening entertainment was one of the highlights of your experience. We also appreciate your comment regarding the atmosphere around the pool area. While it can occasionally be livelier at certain times, we are delighted to know that this did not affect your overall enjoyment. The entire team looks forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best wishes,Diego C., Sol Príncipe Team

    Disability discrimination

    rating15 May 2026

My husband and I visited this hotel for a much needed break. He has been struggling with Prostate cancer and finished treatment. Due to past cancer treatment he was left disabled and we were looking forward for a little sun.We arrived late and to my horror there was no walk in shower. We paid extra for a sea view so I went to reception to request a move as I had contacted the hotel before arrival asking for a shower which was ignored. The night reception man said there are only 2 accessible rooms and you don’t want them as they are here and pointed to the back of the hotel with no views and little sun.I waited until morning and again went down. I was told to speak with customer experience and he would ask them to speak with me. They did not attempt to speak with me so a few hours later I approached them. They said it said bath tub on room info but I informed it also said shower the response was it is over the tub. They couldn’t offer me anything at this point but would consider options.I went back later to be told the only room with a shower was the buildings over the back but no sea view. I said that’s what we paid for and one of the reasons we booked the hotel. There was a building site at the rear near to the rooms as the hotel are putting in a child’s splash pad but it is dirty and noisy. I said it is not acceptable. There were around 10 mobility scooters parked in the lobby so my question to the MELIA was people clearly have disabilities but they had 2 rooms on the first floor at the back of the hotel with no view of the sea or pools how is this equality. They were not interested after I complained and just cover there backs. The food also was not as good as I had experienced in the past. But to be fair due to the way we were treated I probably picked up more on little things. This hotel is not disability friendly and just by the room difference re accessibility is discriminative.

    Disappointed

    rating12 May 2026

** warning **If your children are in the small splash area Please be aware My 2.5 year was coming down the slide and one of the staff members put screws / washers into the water mats and never covered them As my son was coming down the slide he caught his face/ eye on the screws , Which has left a scar on his eye brow I went to first aid and got him cleaned up, and they told me not to get it stitched as it would cause a pull on the skin and cause scaring They put some stuff on it and plaster I asked to speak to a manager and was told they were in a meeting and someone would call me in a hour 3 hours later no one called me so I went back upto reception and they put me onto Mairim who was guest relations , and she took details yet again even though I had given them to reception & first aid She said she would get the manager to contact waited again and as I was going for dinner she told me to go for dinner & they’ll come find meWhich they did which took 8 hours after the accident and apologise for the accident and I asked to file an incident report and was toldNo if I wanted to I would need the guards involved so it sounded very complicated and been in a different country and not really knowing my rights there i choose not to They Offered a 1 night refund & I told them we were going home tomorrow at 11am I wanted to bring him to healthcare provider at home first and I would get back onto them regarding their offer I did and they just glued it and plastered it Told me to contact the hotel about what has happened and see what they say for incident report I contacted the hotel and haven’t heard anything from the hotel just from AIG which was paying out for the pharmacy items I would really be cautious when having your kids play around the areaAnd if they’ve an incident they won’t care as they didn’t care for us This hotel was already sued back in 2017 for a child been hurt and was awarded compensation Hotel Manager, Owner at Sol Principe, responded to this review Dear Guest,First of all, we would like to once again express how sorry we are for the accident involving your son during your stay. We fully understand how distressing this situation must have been for you and your family. As previously communicated, the incident was reported and transferred to our insurance company, who are handling the matter directly and have already been in contact with you regarding the corresponding procedures and resolutions. For this reason, any further follow-up or management related to the case must continue through that channel. We regret if you felt unsupported at any moment during the process, as our team’s intention was always to assist you and ensure your son received immediate first aid attention following the incident. Please understand that, once the case has been referred to the insurance provider, the hotel is not authorised to intervene further or manage additional actions directly. We sincerely wish your son a full recovery and thank you for your understanding.Best regards,Emilia M., Sol Príncipe Team

    Perfect family holiday.

    rating12 May 2026

We have just got back from a weeks all inclusive holiday at this beautiful hotel. The room was clean and comfy with a balcony that had a stunning sea view. The food was good, lots to choose from and different things on offer each day, the icecream and sweet counter was a huge hit.The staff throughout the hotel were amazing, nothing was to much trouble. The real highlight was the pool and the kids pool, our little one spent every second she could in the water and at the kids pool, she loved the slides. The evening entertainment was fantastic with a great atmosphere and the entertainment staff are a real credit to the hotel. The hotel is in a great location with shops bars and restaurants all in walking distance. The hotel was only 10mins from the airport so rather than pay for a transfer (we paid £80 😬) id recommend just jumping in a taxi.I cant recommend this hotel enough, it was great value for money, i had read mixed reviews before going but the hotel exceeded my expectations. Perfect for families of all ages, we will be back. Hotel Manager, Owner at Sol Principe, responded to this review Dear Laura,We would like to thank you for this kind feedback about your experience at Sol Príncipe. We're delighted your family enjoyed the comfortable room with its stunning sea view, designed with all tribes in mind. Our tempting array of meals, especially the sweet treats, aims to please every palate at any hour.It warms our hearts that the pool adventures and evening entertainment created core memories for your little one.Being steps from local flavors and just minutes from the airport is the cherry on top of your Sol experience. We look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay in the future.Kind regards,Laura L., Sol Principe Team
