    The Parador is exquisite!

    rating30 Jun 2026

We chanced upon the Parador by searching Trip Advisor. We were searching for a spot between Barcelona and Madrid after walking a Camino, and landed on Cuenca and the Parador. It was a perfectcombination! This Parador is an historic monetary, beautifully restored into a fabulous hotel. (That’s what Paradors are famous for in Spain.). The room was amazing, the location was out of this world, and we were treated to a music festival featuring Carlos Núñez and Celtic Beethoven. Walk the bridge to Cuenca and step into another world! Very nice Parador with gorgeous views!

    rating26 Jun 2026

We really enjoyed our stay at the Parador de Cuenca. We had two rooms with beautiful views of the gorge, the "Hanging Houses" of Cuenca, and the old town. Our rooms and bathrooms were a good-size, very clean, and had good lighting. Bathrooms had double sinks and shower/tub combo. Rooms had great amenities, including robes/slippers, in-room safe, mini-fridge, complimentary water/tea/coffee, bath products, etc. The mattresses were a little hard for our comfort, but it wasn't too much of an issue. Some of the furniture is a bit worn. There was good storage/closet space, and the rooms' a/c worked well. There are a few "free" parking spaces outside the hotel (we were lucky to snag one.) Otherwise, there is a parking garage across the street for €25/night. It's a short walk into Cuenca old town via the San Pablo bridge...but the bridge is not for the faint-of-heart! It's a bit rickety, honestly, and if you're afraid of heights, you won't like crossing the bridge...needless to say we didn't linger on the bridge - ha! You can access old town via a taxi or car, too, but that will take a little longer. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful, but not overly so. Breakfast service was a little hit-or-miss (some of our order was forgotten,) but the food was fine. The fitness center isn't big but has what you might want, and there is a swimming pool across the street with limited hours. We recommend the Parador de Cuenca and would stay there again. Juan Serrapio, Other at Parador de Cuenca, responded to this review Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to know you enjoyed the views, spacious and well-appointed rooms, and the convenience of our in-room amenities. We appreciate your notes regarding mattress comfort, furnishings, and breakfast service. We are also pleased that our front desk and fitness offerings supported your stay.We are grateful for your recommendation and look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back on a future visit.

Great stay in a magical place

    rating10 Jun 2026

Cuenca is a magical place. The Parador is beautiful and the facilities excellent. The reception staff could be better. We were in the town in the evening and needed advice on getting a taxi back. Two people from our group rang reception, but the phone was not answered. We used ChatGPT to get a taxi back to the hotel and when I spoke to the 2 male reception staff, they literally just shrugged ????? This is my second visit and only found out on the second day that there was a swimming pool the other side of the road. No signs advertising that at all.A very nice hotel though and nice housekeeping staff ?? Juan Serrapio, Other at Parador de Cuenca, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your impressions and for choosing to stay with us again. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the setting, found our property beautiful, and appreciated the efforts of our housekeeping team.We are sorry to learn that aspects of your arrival experience and guest assistance did not reflect the level of attentiveness we aim to provide. Your remarks regarding communication and the visibility of onsite amenities are valuable to us and help us understand where the guest journey can be clearer and more supportive. We are pleased that, overall, you consider our hotel very nice, and we are grateful for your continued trust. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a stay that fully reflects our standards of warm, responsive service.Best regards,

Good room, great location, staff attitude variable

    rating05 Jun 2026

The Parador at Cuenca is a converted monastery separated from the medieval city by a 100m long iron bridge over the gorge. This was a shock to me, and I mean a real shock as I absolutely hate heights. We parked outside the Parador (25 euros a night) and checked in then went to our rooms, large and spacious. The building itself was fabulous with original wooden ceilings, stonework and frescoes. Our room overlooked the gorge which was quite a spectacular site. Breakfast at the Parador was fabulous, I say 'breakfast' as a throw away word but this was a veritable feast and we were there for over an hour before another walk outside to view the town from this side of the ravine. I did feel vindicated when I read the information board that said the bridge, built in 1903, was only intended as a temporary measure before something more permanent was made. So this 'temporary' bridge has been in use for 123 years and is probably about to suffer imminent collapse! Check in at the Parador was very pleasant although in the evening we rang reception twice to request a taxi with no answer. There is actually a pool there too although it is across the road with no sign to say it is there or belongs to the Parador. Although the building and breakfast were superb, I think when I return to the city I will stay the other side of the gorge to avoid the bridge. Juan Serrapio, Other at Parador de Cuenca, responded to this review Thank you for your honest and positive review; we’re delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We’re sorry that we’re unable to answer all the phone calls we receive. The pool area is signposted as a sports area, as it’s next to the tennis court; perhaps this is why you didn’t spot it.Thank you very much, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.
