    Terrible hotel, poor Tui service

    rating12 May 2026

Booked package standard room via Tui, later to find out they use bookingrooms.com with no flexibility when there is cause to complain.First room 3rd floor had dead mosquitos splatted all over ceiling, live mosquitos, bitten 5 times in 30 minutes. Cockroaches skittling around.Requested another room. Second room 3rd floor looked clean but stunk of a damp cellar. Requested another room, 7th floor end of resort, overlooking skips and motorway. Clearly a room prime for burgalry and quick get aways. Patio door broken and taped up with thick black tape, air filtering through, tv not working. Asked reception for a 4th room or upgrade until the morning once day time staff on, he contacted his director to ask for permission, it was declined. Got bedding and pillows from original room booking and set up a bed on couch in Reception area. Eventually, after numerous texts on Tui App, someone called me. She spoke with Reception and I was offered one final room, it was directly under the 3rd room offered on 6th floor. I eventually got in to bed at 4am. At 6am there sounded like two men trying to get in to my room or the room next door. I went to Reception dismayed seeking an upgrade. Declined and told this request could only come via Tui. Tui advised a decision would be made within 48 to 72 hours and because my Tui Package holiday was booked by them with their third party partner organisation, that a hotel transfer was also out of the question. I paid 37 euro plus 20 euro deposit for the room safe. An engineer came along to programme it but it was broken and he couldn't fix it.I paid 10 euro deposit for a towel. I clearly wasn't going to enjoy my holiday so checked out and asked for my 67 euro back which i had just paid, receptionist begrudgingly returned the monies. I booked a H10 hotel aproximately 10 minutes away for 1200 euro online, booked a taxi for 30 euro and checked out. The SBH Paraisi Playa hotel is full of structural cracks, buckled teracotta tiling, mosquitos and cockroaches. Tui and the hotel were not prepared to be flexible in using any discretion by way of offering me a better and safer room. The H10 hotel is beautiful and an entirely different and positive experience in all aspects. I am waiting for Tui to let me know if they are prepared to still provide my airport transfer which shouldn't be an issue since the H10 hotel is enroute airport from the SBH Paraiso Playa. On returning home, I will be contacting Rip off Britain, Simon Calder and the Tourism Ombudsman to seek a full refund which Tui have already said they will not pay.The SBH Paraiso Playa Hotel is disgusting. Tui are a terrible let down. I arrived on a Saturday evening, the Tui Itinerary showed that the first Rep presence was on the Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm. I will never book a Tui package holiday again. The hotel is vile if booked in to a standard room. Web SBH, Ventas at SBH Club Paraiso Playa, responded to this review Dear 952diannew,Thank you for your very detailed review. While we regret that your stay did not meet your expectations, it is important to clarify several points, as your description is extremely dramatic and presents assumptions as facts.Firstly, regarding the rooms: you were offered **multiple room changes in a very short period of time**, which already demonstrates that the hotel staff did make efforts to accommodate you. In a hotel operating with ongoing occupancy, it is not always possible to provide unlimited room alternatives or immediate upgrades simply because a guest dislikes the location or orientation of a room. The hotel’s location, structure, surrounding vegetation, and proximity to roads are all clearly visible on our website, public maps, and booking platforms prior to arrival. Suggesting that a room overlooking an access road is somehow “prime for burglary” is pure speculation and unnecessarily alarmist.Concerning mosquitoes and insects: we are located in a **coastal and natural environment**, and particularly after unusual storms and humidity, insects can appear despite regular treatments by external pest-control companies. This is not unique to our hotel or even to Fuerteventura. As for the “structural cracks,” “buckled tiles,” and similar descriptions: maintenance issues can occur in any large and older resort complex. However, portraying the hotel as dangerous or collapsing is simply exaggerated and does not reflect reality. The hotel operates legally under all required inspections and regulations. The issue with the safe was clearly unfortunate, but technical faults can happen. The fact that an engineer attended your room already shows that the matter was being addressed. Likewise, your deposits were returned upon check-out.Regarding TUI, their operational procedures, response times, and use of third-party booking systems are entirely outside the control of the hotel. It is therefore unfair to attribute dissatisfaction with your travel provider directly to the hotel itself. We also note that despite declaring the hotel “vile,” you remained focused on obtaining upgrades and alternative room allocations within the same property throughout the evening. Ultimately, you chose to relocate to another hotel at your own expense — which is, of course, your right. We respect that the hotel did not match your personal expectations. However, there is a clear difference between a disappointing personal experience and the catastrophic image your review attempts to create. Thousands of guests continue to enjoy their holidays here every year, appreciating the location, views, service, and value for money.Kind regards,**The Management**

    Value for money, very isolated

    rating14 Apr 2026

Back yesterday from a week here. Very basic hotel, staff are friendly and keep hotel clean. The hotel is isolated and you cannot go shopping ect without getting on a bus/taxi to the next town. Balcony was in the trees so currently have 40+ mosquito bites. Food was quite good and something for everyone. Drinks are good too, must try mojito. Entertainment day/night for kids ect. Beach is lovely but too windy to enjoy, sand blown in your face at 45kmph. I liked it but wouldnt return, too isolated and too windy to enjoy. Web SBH, Ventas at SBH Club Paraiso Playa, responded to this review Dear charlottegU1640UL,Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay. We appreciate your balanced comments and are pleased to hear that you found our staff friendly, the hotel clean, and that you enjoyed the food, drinks, and the beautiful beach.Regarding the location, it is indeed true that the hotel is situated in a more quiet and natural area, between Costa Calma and Morro Jable. This is clearly indicated on our website and maps, and while many guests appreciate the peace and surroundings, we understand that it may feel too isolated for others. The public bus stop directly in front of the hotel does, however, provide easy access to nearby towns. As for the wind, Fuerteventura is well known for it — in fact, it is part of the island’s character. At times, especially during certain periods, it can be stronger and affect the beach experience, which is unfortunately beyond our control.Regarding mosquitoes, being close to nature and vegetation can lead to their presence, particularly in certain areas and weather conditions. Preventive measures are in place, but it is not always possible to avoid them completely. We regret that the location and weather conditions did not fully meet your expectations, but we are glad you still found several positive aspects during your stay.Kind regards,The Management

2 stars max, definitely not 4 stars hotel

    rating08 Apr 2026

I'll start with the positives, which unfortunately outnumbered the negatives. The food, although monotonous, was tasty. The hotel is located on a beautiful beach, and the view from the pool area is wonderful. The service was friendly, except for one barman, who either has a personality disorder or tries too hard to be funny. Unfortunately, he crosses the line into cheerfulness and is annoying, loud, and gives the impression of being mentally ill.Cons:1.No signs on the door to request no cleaning and privacy. The staff knocks daily and then enters the room. I believe it is not staff fault, this should be changed by owner. Once, I managed to cover myself with a towel after getting out of the shower, and another time, the cleaning lady stumbled upon my sleeping husband. It's unacceptable that you have no privacy at all, and the owner should invest in door hangers as soon as possible...2. Cockroaches are everywhere, and it's worst in the evenings, when a swarm of cockroaches waits outside the room until you open the door...3. The decor is very old and hasn't been changed in years, and it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that the pillows need replacing, there's no duvet, no power outlet by the bed, and only one for the entire room. Very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I don't recommend it, even as a budget option, because the lack of privacy and the number of cockroaches in the property are terrifying. It's worth considering additional staff to sweep the cockroaches from the hallway in the evenings. 4. The drinks were made from the cheapest alcohol and juices, the worst I've ever had in my life. Only the mojito was acceptable.5. The coffee machine was broken at times during meals, which caused long lines.6. The jacuzzi didn't work, and there was no heated pool. The information about the jacuzzi not working appears in the comments every few months. I don't believe the hotel's response, saying we were just unlucky and they were waiting for repairs. They either don't repair it or deliberately don't use it to avoid costs.7. The pool water is dirty; I never once saw anyone clean it. The toilets by the pool are constantly dirty and dilapidated. It feels like they're understaffed and can't keep up.8. The gym equipment makes you fear you might hurt yourself... old and rusty. It is definitely not 4 star hotel. Web SBH, Ventas at SBH Club Paraiso Playa, responded to this review Dear 974zanetam,Thank you for your detailed feedback. While we appreciate that you highlighted some positive aspects such as the food, location, and views, we must address several of your statements, particularly where they are exaggerated or inappropriate.First, regarding your comment about a member of staff being “mentally ill”: this type of remark is completely unacceptable and disrespectful. Our staff are known for their friendliness and effort to create a pleasant atmosphere, and personal insults of this na-ture are not a fair way to describe service. On the matter of privacy, rooms are serviced according to standard hotel procedures. Housekeeping staff knock before entering, and if guests require uninterrupted privacy, this can always be communicated directly to reception.Concerning cockroaches, we are located in a coastal, natural environment. Especially in warmer climates and during certain weather conditions, insects can appear outdoors. Despite regular treatments by external pest control companies, it is not realistic to expect complete elimination in such surroundings. Descriptions such as “swarms waiting outside the room” are clearly exaggerated.Regarding the condition of the hotel, it is no secret that the building has a more tradi-tional style. However, maintenance is ongoing, and many guests consider the hotel good value for money due to its location. As for the drinks, coffee machines, jacuzzi, pool, and gym, these are operational as-pects that are monitored and maintained. Temporary issues can occur, but suggesting deliberate neglect or cost-cutting decisions without any factual basis is simply specula-tion.Cleanliness, including pool maintenance and public areas, follows established proce-dures. Claims that “no one ever cleans” do not reflect the actual daily work carried out by our teams. We respect that the hotel did not meet your personal expectations. However, it is im-portant to distinguish between subjective opinion and statements that are exaggerated or unfounded.Kind regards,The Management

Budget 3 star resort no heated pool or jacuzzi

    rating18 Mar 2026

Ok budget friendly resort but 3 star at best, no heated pool as advertised, no jacuzzi and the fitness center is an empty room with one bike and walker. Friendly staff and nice beach but over 100 stairs to get to it Web SBH, Ventas at SBH Club Paraiso Playa, responded to this review Dear richmZ9029EE,Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate that you highlighted both the positive aspects, such as our friendly staff and the beautiful beach, as well as your concerns.Regarding the pool, we would like to clarify that it is climatized, not heated. This means the temperature is regulated, but it can still be influenced by weather conditions such as wind, especially during certain times of the year.Concerning the jacuzzi and fitness room, the facilities correspond to the current hotel concept and category. While they may not match all expectations, they are not advertised as full spa or extensive gym facilities. The access to the beach via more than 100 steps is part of the hotel’s unique cliffside location, which is clearly shown in photos and descriptions. This elevated position is also what allows for the panoramic views that many guests appreciate — and, as a side note, it provides a rather natural “outdoor workout” for those missing a more extensive gym experience. We understand that expectations can vary, but we aim to provide a fair quality–price balance, which many guests value when choosing our hotel.Kind regards,The Management

    Horrible

    rating16 Mar 2026

Location great, reception staff horrible, rooms horrible, we had our 5 visit to the hotel, we got room 552 and it was right in front of some big pin trees, it was extremely windy and the noise was unbearable, we requested if possible to change our room because the hotel didn't seem full, they change the room next day to 349 wich is basically in the same spot just different floor, i felt like they are taking the piss, why change the room if its the same place, same noise problem? Plus the new room had no blinds folds and the doors at the closet where taken down, sawdust all over the floor, probably they taken the doors down just before, a day before leaving we asked at reception to have an early breakfast because we were leaving at 6 in the morning, the young guy at reception just replied kitchen opens at 8 sorry! Totally disappointed 😞 Web SBH, Ventas at SBH Club Paraiso Playa, responded to this review Dear V450Qcluizad,Thank you for your feedback, especially as a returning guest. This makes it even more important for us to respond clearly. The location of the hotel, on top of a cliff and surrounded by trees that act as natural wind protection, is publicly available on our website as well as on platforms such as Google Maps. Recently, we have experienced several storms, which are quite unusual for the Canary Islands, especially Fuerteventura. Unfortunately, weather conditions and wind intensity are entirely beyond our control.Regarding your room change: in a hotel with high occupancy, it is simply not possible to allocate all guests in the most requested or more sheltered areas, as these zones become fully occupied. Availability always depends on timing, and we cannot reassign rooms that are already occupied by other guests. The fact that a room change was offered reflects that your request was considered within the available options, even if it did not meet your expectations. The condition you describe in the second room should, of course, have been reported immediately so it could be corrected without delay. As for the early breakfast, this depends very much on when the request is made. If it is communicated too late — for example, after the kitchen has already closed and staff have finished their shift — it is simply not possible to organise additional service on short notice. This requires prior planning and coordination. We also note your comment describing the reception staff as “horrible.” From our perspective, this perception seems to be linked to the fact that your requests — room relocation, weather conditions, and early breakfast — could not be fulfilled. However, not being able to meet a request does not equate to poor service; in many cases, it simply reflects that what is being asked is not operationally possible. We regret that this stay did not meet your expectations, but it is important to consider the operational realities of a hotel environment.Kind regards,The Management
