  Don’t be fooled by the photos for this hotel .. the pool is not as nice as the pics show. Our room had a big gap at the top of the door which allowed mozzies in. There’s no aircon just a ceiling fan in the bedroom and a standing fan in the living area that didn’t do much at all. The shower was an over the bath one, with a shower curtain that once you’d showered the bathroom floor was soaking wet even though we left the curtain in the bath. Our room was not cleaned everyday .. beds made 2 or 3 times during the whole week but no signs of cleaning. The WiFi was horrendous, you couldn’t watch tv as it just buffered constantly. There was squashed mozzies all over the walls. Black marks near the wardrobe that looked like mould. Cracked tiles in the bathroom that had just been painted over. It is in need of updating and refurbishing. We were told that our room was a partially refurbished room !!!!! Food wasn’t too bad, plenty of variety. There’s no inside bar only the pool bar, which we didn’t use in the evening as it was too cold to sit outside. It’s a good walk to the resort centre, which isn’t nothing special. It was my birthday whilst there and my daughter had asked our travel agent to request something nice put into our room to make my day special. This didn’t happen and I was later told that the hotel had emailed our travel agent to suggest birthday packages. But my travel agent assured me that they had definitely not had a reply back from their request. We like a reasonably busy resort with a bit of nightlife … this was definitely not that.   Amazing, recommend this hotel

  Our holiday to SMY Tahona was amazing the location was wonderful and beautiful apart from everything was far apart and not walking distance also the location wasn’t far from the airport, atmosphere was wonderful the hotel was busy but quiet and not to much children which was lovely, all the staff were wonderful and nothing was to much for them and the atmosphere around the complex was lovely everybody staying were friendly rooms were basic but what do you expect we only sleep in the room, everything we needed in the room was there, the rooms were clean and tidy and cleaned everyday without fault the fan was my best friend especially in the nights, bed was really comfy, shower was lovely and warm, tv was excellent, the only downfall of the room was the internet was slow it really only worked outside or by the pool side, I would recommend this hotel, the value for money is brilliant and I would give this hotel and complex a 4* not 3*, we were all inclusive which was valued and good for the money, food was lovely especially breakfast, all the menu was different each day which was nice and the food was hot even if the time was close to shutting, noise level was quiet apart from the entertainment, The bar staff was amazing especially Daniel who served us all the drinks we wanted and more, the only thing we would say was not the best was the internet, snackbar and the entertainment in the evening, we didn’t want to go home and we have had an amazing week hopefully will be back soon Miguel Domínguez, General Manager at Smy Tahona Fuerteventura, responded to this review Thank you so much for this wonderful review!   Second stay - Lovely place

  Just returned from my second stay at this hotel, can’t fault the place for the price we paid. Noticed some slight improvements in the rooms (addition of a ceiling fan and smart TV). The food was spot on as expected from my previous stay, with a different theme each night. A few additional cocktails added to the all inclusive menu - which was an added bonus! And as always the staff go above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible - I can’t wait to return later this year.   Give it a miss

  When we arrived it was 20:40 and we checked in and went for something to eat. Disappointed is an understatement, the chicken was raw and the noodles cold. In fact everything was cold or at best luke warm. We went to our room and the size is good but they are dated and in need of updating. Turned on the TV to see some news and it was a waste of time, the wheel of doom just whirling around as the wifi is very poor. Talked to reception and was told everyones is the same. There is no air con just a standing fan, which only moves warm air around the room, so not much sleep as it was too warm. The whole holiday food was always at best luke warm or cold, the menu is the same each week so we knew what was coming for our second week, so we went out to eat. Entertainment is the same each week on an evening. The rooms are meant to be cleaned everyday, at least that is what we were told when we booked in. However this didnt happen and sometimes not cleaned for two days. The worst of all was the bath. When having a shower the water would build up in the bottom of the bath for several inches and left a tide mark around the bath from the tanning oil and sweat from the hot days. The bath was only cleaned once in a week and a half, we had to go to reception to request it to be cleaned. They did send someone, but what she did we do not know as the mark was still visible after she left. The place is a hive for Spanish tourists and are bloody ignorant, they just walk to the front of the queue at the bar, but the annoying thing is the staff serve them and dont tell them to go to the back. At breakfast i got a coffee for my wife and then put a cup underneath to fill another cup and as I turned to pass the coffee to my wife the Spanish man removed my cup and just let the coffee go into the tray. I did give him a few choice words and moved him away and made another coffee. Would I return to this Hotel NO.Some of the staff are friendly, but a lot do not speak to you, especially the housekeepers unless you say hello to them and then they will reply. Your comments about the food may stem from cultural differences: British guests like their food piping hot, whereas other nationalities prefer their food at lower temperatures. We keep a rigorous HACCP system that includes logging the temperatures at which the food is served, and all our records prove that they are well above the mandatory requirements. Those Spanish guests, for instance, who pride themselves of knowing a thing or two about food, were enthusiastically appreciative of the food served in this three-star hotel.We apologize for the technical issues with the TVs. We have just introduced this new system providing a much larger number of channels and there were some temporary issues with the network supporting it. Those teething problems have been addressed. Cleaning takes place 5 days out of every week, as contracted with associated Tour Operators, but occasionally some guests accidentally leave the DND sign hanging from the door. We are working on a better system to avoid those misunderstandings. We are deeply sorry to see that you will not be coming back, and trust you will enjoy your future stays in alternative locations.

  Lovely experience

  Went for 5 days all inclusive as a solo traveller, was lovely resort, lots to see and do. Rooms were cleaned 2 or 3 times, spotless in bar and restaurant areas, pool area lovely. Rooms just in need of updates, painting, new furniture etc but were large enough for a family. Good value for money. Staff were friendly, courteous, helpful all the time, cannot fault the hotel.
