  Just spent a week in Villa Florida, stayed in Apartment 184 on the ground floor, wasn't the best outlook in whichever direction you looked, and no sun, no privacy either as the other 2 apartments are in such close proximity other holiday makers said the same. . We were quite surprised when we asked when the bed linen would be changed as after 5 days it hadn't, they said sorry bed linen is only changed once a week, so all that week we had the same sheets, that's not good. Even the only t towel wasn't changed, we had to ask. The bar was never open, no background music round the pool area, the silence was deafening, so we didn't bother at all. The cleaners seemed friendly enough although minimum cleaning was done, very basic as even the outside area wasn't even swept. On the plus side, kitchen equipment, cutlery, plates etc were there so no complaints in that department. For a 3 star rating, we feel it didn't match that. We spend quite a few holidays in Caleta each year and have never come across this before, unfortunately Villa Florida won't be on our list for next time.

  Fumigating not allowed

  So we got there on a Wednesday. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, nice clean room very happy with it and got a good night's sleep Wednesday and Thursday, Friday was the day they started to fumigate cockroaches, which was excessively loud, this was done throughout. 10 mins later cockroaches started dropping out of the air con unit. So as anybody would i started to destroy them, went round to reception were I saw two work men by the pool bar jumping on not hundreds but thousands of these critters. Whet to the reception and had a little moan. and they told me it was there regulation to do this, said they would be round to clean our room that was approximately 5 hours later. Friday night started to get a sore throat. did not sleep well at all, same for rest of the stay, my symptoms turned to feel like a bad cold. Decided to take covid test which was fine. while I'm saying all this the staff were still friendly and polite to me and cleaned the room nearly everyday. But never got offered another room.It's only when we got back that I found out no hotels are allowed to fumigate while while guests are staying there, and there are pitfalls for fumigation like can get sore throats and cold like symptoms. So not a happy man right now waste of a holiday.

  We had an upper apartment in the Red Zone which did overlook onto the empty hotel complex next door where there were some people squatting. It was not a problem for us! We had a great patio area at the front corner of the complex which gave sun all day.The rooms were clean, the only thing I would pull up on was the grouting in the shower area which could do with some work.There was complimentary tea/coffee. We used the kettle, large toaster and fridge but not the cooking facilities which included a microwave. Hairdryer and iron supplied too. Good sized TV with loads of stations including some British stations. 21 euros for use of the safe with 20 euro deposit on key.The single beds were comfortable enough and could be moved together if preferred. There was a a 3-speed ceiling fan which was well used. Plenty of cupboard space wth 10 hangers and about six shelves. We brought a couple of patio chairs in to lay our day clothes on that were not being hung up.There is a nice pool area. We never had a problem getting sunbeds. There is a notice that any bed left unused for half an hour the towels would be removed and beds could not be “reserved”. Don’t know if this is executed as there was no need.The staff were excellent and very helpful and could find no fault whatsoever in that department.The complex is very central for amenities and about a five minute walk to the beach. Plenty of nearby restaurants to choose from.Would certainly return to this complex.

  We were situated in the red zone, which was fine overall, but the room lacked natural light and felt very dark. That won’t bother everyone, but personally I prefer a brighter space. The balcony only received a couple of hours of direct sunlight each day, and as someone who enjoys sitting outside reading and relaxing, I would have preferred more sun.The rooms themselves were very clean and spacious. A nice touch was the complimentary tea, coffee, and washing‑up essentials — small things, but they make a difference. The microwave is positioned quite high up, which could be unsafe if you’re under 5 ft.The bathroom was a good standard and very clean. However, the shower base is level with the floor, and on first use I accidentally flooded the bathroom — so you do need to be mindful when showering. It’s a very odd design choice.The beds were comfortable, but I would have preferred a proper double rather than two singles pushed together. One thing that was noticeably missing was a dressing table, which would have been really useful. I’d also recommend adding a few hooks for hanging bags, jackets, and other bits.The complex is set in an area with easy access to all amenities, which is a real positive. The only downside is the abandoned complex right next door — it’s very much an eyesore and unfortunately does take away from the overall feel of Villa Florida.One niggle was the situation with the sunbeds. People were waiting from around 9.15am for the gates to open at 10am, and from observation this seemed to be mainly private owners of apartments within the complex. I don’t go on holiday wanting or needing to fight for a sunbed — it’s an expectation that there are enough to accommodate everyone. Bearing in mind we visited out of season, the complex also didn’t present as particularly child‑friendly. You could see some private owners weren’t too happy if children were playing or being a bit noisy — basically just having fun and enjoying themselves. As an adult couple with our own grown‑up children and young grandchildren (not with us on this trip), it was disappointing to hear the complaints.On a positive note, all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The cleaning staff and grounds staff work exceptionally hard and keep the place spotless.
