    Met all our needs

    rating10 May 2026

€113 a night with no breakfast. Plenty of small cafes in the area where you can get coffee, croissants and orange juice for two for €13. Room was spacious. Massive comfortable bed. Shower was fine. Staff were super helpful. About 15-20 minute walk to the old town. Would stay there again

    Conference stay

    rating05 Mar 2026

We stayed 6 nights at the Double Tree hotel for its close proximity to the Girona conference facilities. The hotel is just like it appears on the internet, modern, comfortable and clean. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. Our room was quiet and the breakfast was good with a lot of variety and quality items. The pool was refreshing but note the ladder steps only which can be difficult for certain mobility issues. There is a good supermarket a next door. The old town is a good walk or short taxi ride away as is the train station. We would rate this a 4.5 if we could.

    Last Minute Booking

    rating03 Mar 2026

We arrived just before 10:00 pm on a Sunday night after hastily arranging alternate accommodations in the middle of a 3-week vacation when our flights to and from Israel on Sunday were cancelled. We had spent all the prior night trying to rebook flights, hotels, and car rentals and ended up flying from Cyprus to Barcelona instead, where we rented a car for the drive north. After traveling all day, we were beyond exhausted and half starved upon our arrival in Girona because the airline we flew had no food during a four-hour flight except junk snacks. So we asked if the hotel restaurant was still open. It was closing at 10:00, but we were invited to order food in the hotel pub and eat there instead. We were very thankful for that option. I was even more thankful that the menu included vegan options. I ordered a fresh-cut fruit platter, a veggie burger, and a liter of spring water. The fruit was perfectly ripe and juicy, which helped quench travel thirst. Hubby ordered chicken tenders and ate my fries. The tab was 34 euros.I wasn't pleased to pay 14 euros to park overnight. We were told that we were welcome to find a free parking space on the street but that the car would have to be moved by 8:00 a.m. Since I planned to sleep in, that wasn't an option. We were also advised that there was a free public parking lot across the boulevard and, if there was space available, we could park there as long as we wanted. We were too tired to search for free parking and then walk back to the hotel, so we paid for the garage space.Hubby was having an incredibly difficult time trying to squeeze our larger rental car into the tiny parking spaces designated for hotel guests and spent several minutes trying two different spaces. Then the front desk clerk appeared and said he'd seen us trying to park via the hotel monitoring system, so he came down to the garage to show us an area with larger parking spaces. He also helped Hubby figure out how to turn the lights out in the car when they wouldn't turn off. He went above and beyond in providing great customer service. When we got to our king room, I fell into bed. Hilton brand beds are always ultra comfortable, so good sleep is guaranteed. We didn't hear a sound outside the room all night, so it seems to be well insulated. I loved the full-size tub, and the shower pressure was excellent. One note though - when you get out of the shower, be sure the floor is completely dry because the water sprays outside the tub area and the floor tiles could be slippery. I appreciated the upscale amenities, like the makeup mirror, the Crabtree personal care products, and the thick towels. The desk chairs were especially comfortable, and were designed such that they fit flat into the desk and didn't take up any space in the room. They're designed to also serve as dining chairs. Lighting and electrical outlets were plentiful, and the wi-fi worked well. Two small bottles of water were waiting for us in the room, but we could have drank twice that amount at once. The usual Hilton amenities were provided, including a water kettle and a mini-refridge, safe, lots of closet and drawer space, hair dryer, full length mirror, blackout curtains, etc. We didn't participate in breakfast because we had eaten so late the prior evening, but we did notice an Aldi store almost directly across the street from Doubletree. So when we checked out just before noon, we stopped and grabbed a few bags of fresh fruit and snacks for the 6-hour drive to the French Riviera. We would have loved to spend more time here, and I wouldn't hesitate to book at the Doubletree Girona again if we ever return to this area.

Staff 10/10 so friendly and helpfulHôtel room 4/10 under averageValue for money at 330 euros per night 1/10Restaurant food 5/10 and not pet friendly, we were made to sit in the bar eating from a low table with a 4kg Pomeranian. Conclusion will not return as just to expensive for an average experience. Tomorrow we are in a Hilton in Dijon and kenn to gauge the difference.

My worst hotel stay in 2025

    rating09 Jan 2026

I had over 50 hotel nights with Hilton as a Diamond member in 2025, and unfortunately my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Girona was by far the worst. At check-in, we were given a room where the heating/ventilation system could not be turned off. The ventilation was extremely loud. When we contacted the front desk, we were told that they could only switch the heating off completely from their side, meaning we would have no control over it and would need to call reception every time we wanted the heating turned back on. This is completely unacceptable and offers no comfort whatsoever. After raising this issue, we were given an upgrade to a suite, which initially sounded like a solution. Unfortunately, the suite was also in very poor condition:– The shower button had fallen off– The laminate flooring had large gaps– The furniture was heavily worn and stainedIf I had paid the full price for this suite, I would never have accepted it. Another major downside is that all suites face the main road, so the constant traffic noise is clearly noticeable and disruptive. The suits in a hotel should have the best positions?"The experience at breakfast was also disappointing. The staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves rather than actively engaging with guests or providing attentive service. Overall, the hotel clearly lacks charm and genuine interest in its guests. To make matters worse, during check-out no one even asked how our stay had been.In summary, this was a very unpleasant stay, with poor comfort, outdated and poorly maintained rooms, and a noticeable lack of service orientation. I can only advise against staying at this hotel.Hotel management, you have some work to do.
