Would recommend a stay here :)

    rating04 Apr 2026

(M31 & F28) Loved our lil 5 night break over the Easter Bank Holiday at Altair Apartments. On arrival it is not clear, but you do have to check in at the hotel next door (Cala Dor) and the lift did not work. However, staff were all very lovely and helpful! We were given room 105D which is the first floor with a view of the pool. The room has a kitchen with all the necessary amenities & appliances for a self-catering stay, table & chairs, fridge with a little freezer compartment with an ice cube tray! The living room area had a sofa bed, table & TV with some extra storage. The bedroom had a large wardrobe with about 10 hangers and a safe, two bedside tables and 2 single beds pushed together. We thought the beds were really comfy! Also ample of mirrors including a floor length one too! The bathroom had a shower (cold in the morning, but hot later in the day), sink and toilet. A hair dryer is also provided in the bathroom. The rooms and hotel itself was super clean and the house keeping ladies did a fabulous job and were always very polite and said hello. The pool is good size and has a deep end and the pool snack bar was ok value for money (€3.70 for a pint of beer). The only thing I would say is - if you want to lounge around the pool, then grab a bed in the morning as we struggled on the last few days to get a bed when we came back around 12:00 and decided to go to the beach instead! People had reserved beds, however hadn’t returned for a couple of hours which was very annoying. The location is not ideal if you have mobility issues as you have to walk down around 200 steps to get to the shopping centre and restaurants. Plus, a lot of steps to get to rooms etc (lifts are very temperamental). It was about a 15 minute walk to the beach. Taxis are around €4.25 - €5 to get to the centre or beach which isn’t bad and they come pretty quickly! There is also a mini market just outside the hotel, so very ideal for water and snacks. It isn’t too noisy at night if you have all the doors closed; it definitely didn’t keep us awake. If we were to return to Puerto Rico then we would definitely stay here again and would also recommend to friends and family!

    Good-Bad Altair Hotel

    rating14 Mar 2026

after arriving at the Altaire hotel, we only found out by a passing couple who were staying at the Altaire, that we need to book in at the Cala Dor Hotel. This information was not provided by the tour operator we booked with or the reps at Las Palmas airport. Good points:- good size room and balcony, plenty of sunbeds around the pool area. Bad points:-Bar staff upon arrival was very blunt with information on how to get to our room. But never saw this bar staff again whiles were were there. The other bar staff we say was very friendly and helpful to everyone we saw at the bar. There was no information from reception or in our room when the cleaner come in to clean and change towels. Twice we left towels for chaining, but only found the cleaner had been in and emptied the bins only. Access through the Altair gate was by card, we only found out after trying to 19:00 the gate is locked from the outside. Access to outside was from another gate with a bar you push down to exit. We had to go to Cala Dor for information every time we needed it. Access via Altaire gate after 00:00 is not possible, you have to go through the Cala Dor complex to gain access to the Altaire complex. Why when you are give a card to open a gate? Staff member on Cala Dor main desk was not fully understanding what we were asking him, so we had to come down the next morning and ask a new member of staff on the desk. All in all we did enjoy our stay. But we don't think we will be returning until access and egress is allowed 24/7 with a pass card. Running back and thro to Cala Dor is not what we want.

Great apt…awful area for clubbing music til 4am every night

    rating11 Feb 2026

Very pleased with the actual apartment, clean and well equipped. House keeping do a great job. There are two pool areas, one generally quiet whilst the other one is very much a bingo and darts area where you have an entertainment chap constantly on the mike! The complex is a good fifteen minute walk to the beach are accessed by going down approximately 200 steps although there is an option of following the road down as well. There is a huge shopping mall at the bottom of the step with the normal tat shops and loads of bars and restaurants..one or two good ones in our opinion A major drawback to the apartments is the club music coming from the clubs in the shopping complex which goes on until 4am EVERY NIGHT which everyone complained about. The beach is large with approximately 600 sunbeds ..so very busy and noisy. The beach has numerous restaurants.Another draw back for the whole area is it is apparently well known for pick pockets, which we didn’t know or expected, especially around the shopping mall, the subway underpass paths and the park by the beach..Unfortunately we learnt the hard way and my husband had his wallet stolen in a zipped bag ..classically “bumped” into…Jet 2 rep then told us the areas to avoid! This area was recommended to us by our travel agents based on our brief of a quiet area, not club people ….clearly got that wrong ..again the Jet 2 rep said it is a well known area for clubbing and youngsters..which we are not.

    Just ok

    rating21 Oct 2025

If your looking for a cheap stay the Altair are perfect for that, the apartment was clean but old, beds were hard, we had cockroaches 3 nights in a row, complained to reception and they sent someone to spray the apartment, the cockroaches were coming up the shower drain. I had to buy bleach and spray to stop it happening, When we were sitting at the pool cockroaches were coming out of the gaps in the tiles. The noise at night from the shopping centre is loud, doesn't stop till 3am, don't expect to sleep before that! The sliding door to the bedroom didn't close properly! The sliding door on the balcony has no handle outside and it's very hard to slide if you close it. The sheets were not changed in the whole 7 night stay, the kitchen was equipped ok but nothing to wash dishes with, you have to get up early to get a sunbed as they are covered in towels by 9am, the gate shuts at 9pm you have to go to cala d'Or to go through to Altair. The staff were pleasant, I would not return but you get what you pay for
