Disappointing holiday
05 May 2026
I stayed with my husband April 2026, I had been to the hotel before and had no problem going again, however 3rd day into our holiday my husband started with the sickness all through the night, followed by myself the following day sickness and diarrhea. We were both quite poorly for a few day's. This really did spoil my birthday celebration. The hotel seemed very clean to me and we enjoyed the food we had the first couple of days, however I do think there must be a problem after listening to people on my last day. Seems like the resort may have a problem with the norivirus as more than usual cases of the bug. I was talking to one of the tui reps who told me they have more cases in their winter period for some reason this really needs getting to grips with as it will definitely affect bookings in the future.

How rude
29 Apr 2026
I wasn’t going to write a review as I don’t like to leave negative reviews incase they are just random one off issues but the first two days we had a few accessibility issues with the granddaughters pushchair as the child’s pool is on the top floor which you have to climb 2 stair cases to get to as there is no lift. We decided to leave the pushchair behind and carry 18 month old. Today, day 3. We come to one of the pools and a little girl has a Unicorn inflatable. Of course our little one wanted to play so we went ahead and brought her one. A couple of hours later when the life guard had a change over the man came up to us shouting at us which we were unable to understand. At first we thought he was angry because we were holding it to stop the wind blowing it away in the pool. But after he went to fetch a manager we were told it was slightly too big. It was roughly big enough for our 18 month old to sit on. Then it changed to no Inflatables allowed. We were the only ones approached and were made to feel very embarrassed as everyone was watching this life guard shouting at my daughter and granddaughter in the pool. I honestly feel like we have had nothing but issues since we arrived and the reviews were so good online. I’m so disappointed and feel like it has really tainted the holiday and time away with out family. If anyone is visiting with small children please know you have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the children’s area and not to bring any inflatables. The manager calmed the situation but the damage was done. Food choices are good. Location is good.

Dear Keeley J,Thank you for choosing RIU Hotels & Resorts and submitting a review of your recent stay with us. We sincerely apologize for the frustrations you encountered, especially regarding the accessibility of the children's pool and the way our safety policies were communicated. While our lifeguards must strictly enforce inflatable size limits to ensure a safe environment for everyone, we deeply regret that this wasn't handled with the necessary tact and courtesy. We are addressing this with our team to ensure all guests feel respected. We are glad our manager could assist you, and we’re pleased to know you enjoyed our prime location and food. We would be delighted if you would honor us with another opportunity to convince you of our RIU service and quality.Best regards,Hotel Riu VistamarOnline Reputation Manager

Sickness Problem
28 Apr 2026
I recently stayed at RIU Vistamar and unfortunately became unwell during my stay.I experienced symptoms consistent with a gastrointestinal illness, including nausea and vomiting. What was particularly concerning was that I spoke with other guests at the hotel who reported experiencing similar symptoms around the same time. The hotel itself has lovely views and some nice facilities, however this was overshadowed by the illness. Overall, this was a disappointing experience.

Disastrous visit with sickness bug
28 Apr 2026
We arrived full of anticipation, first impression was good. Lovely room with a sea view. After 3 days, I woke up with a stomach bug. D & V and severe stomach cramps. Hubby then went down with it the next day. On closer inspection, the cleanliness is not good. Tables at Sea Breeze restaurant wiped with a cloth, no cleaning spray, same in reception. The chap in the Sports Bar always used cleaning spray. The lifts were filthy. Never saw them being cleaned all the time we were there. The handrails down to the restaurant were filthy. I saw people walk into the restaurant without using hand gel. Two dispensers outside the door. We used it meticulously. When reported to RIU staff, their attitude was they couldn't care less. I've stayed in many RIU hotels but I will never stay in this one again. They need to sort out their cleaning to keep people safe. I met another couple who had this bug too. It ruins people's holidays that they've paid good money for. This was a thank you to my husband for looking after me during my recovery from a recent total knee replacement but we ended up looking after each other again. Not the rest and recuperation we were anticipating.

Avoid
26 Apr 2026
The hotel is nice and staff are very friendly but it’s all inclusive but the food isn’t great Luke warm and overcooked. We ate here our first night but had to go to other restaurants every other night as the food was so bad. The wine was cheap and not good. The alcohol was local brands do very little choice. The pool’s were lovely and it wasn’t too crowded.
