  Construction noise

  The hotel is ok, a bit aged and tired but facilities overall are good and staff very friendly and helpful. The huge problem is that it is surrounded by a construction site on three sides. A huge hotel is under construction beside the Verdi but worse is the noise of a huge pneumatic jackhammer across the bay. The website describes the Verdi as “tranquil”, it’s anything but. The saving grace for our 4 night stay was that 1st May was a public holiday so the construction workers had the day off.

  Don’t forget your earplugs

  The good points, the hotel is good, the rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size. The staff are lovely without exception. In particular the reception staff and Mikal in the restaurant. Now the bad points. You need a good pair of earplugs to stay here at the moment as the hotel is sandwiched between two construction sites. The Hard Rock Hotel is directly behind the Verdi and is supposed to be open in July. However, it’s so far behind schedule they are working into the evening and the roads and paths around the site are dangerous. There is another site across the bay, approximately 100m away where there are hydraulic drills and diggers working from 7:30am until 4:30pm and the noise is around 70 decibels. You can’t sit on your balcony while they are working and it’s the same at the pool. The hotel is also close to Paceville and you hear revellers going home in the early hours. Don’t forget to pack earplugs if you want a good nights sleep or to relax round the pool.

  Very disappointing stay — this hotel is nowhere near the standard it presents itself to be, especially considering it is advertised as a 4-star property.The level of disruption is unacceptable. There is constant construction noise across the bay, and directly behind the hotel is a huge building site that you have to walk through just to reach nearby shops. To make matters worse, the neighbouring Corinthia Hotel — where you’re expected to use the pool facilities — is also under renovation, meaning relentless noise throughout the day. This was not clearly communicated at any stage.Our initial room was unbearable. We were woken at 4am on four consecutive nights by people leaving the nearby Paceville nightlife strip. There is clearly no adequate soundproofing. We eventually requested a room change, which only slightly improved things — not what you expect when booking a supposed 4-star hotel.The rooms are extremely dated and in desperate need of refurbishment. The overall condition feels tired, worn, and neglected, which is completely at odds with its rating.Staff were polite but clearly undertrained, and service was inconsistent. Breakfast was very poor: limited choice, low quality, and the coffee machines were frequently out of order.Overall, this hotel is far closer to a basic Travelodge with shared pool access than anything resembling a 4-star experience. The only positive was the weather — which, of course, has nothing to do with the hotel.Would not return and would not recommend.

  Great stay for families with a convenient location

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Verdi hotel. It is a great place to stay for families with young children. The location was excellent, a short walk to shops and restaurants. We mainly used bolt and uber to get around the island. We booked a family suite which had very spacious rooms and the facilities at the hotel were ample. The indoor pool worked a treat to entertain the children on colder days! Staff were attentive from restaurant staff like Sunil and Chorten. Manager Amit was very attentive and went out of his way to accommodate needs we had for our young children. Also a special mention to manager Giuseppe, who made us feel very welcome with genuine care and attention. He gave us some wonderful recommendations for our stay in Malta and made our stay extra special. We would definitely recommend Verdi St George’s Bay!
