    Noise From Building Work

    rating22 May 2026

For anyone who doesn't know, Green Park is a hotel that was split in half several years ago with Green Gardens being the other side.Green Gardens is undergoing some serious building renovations over the next 6-12 months with all rooms being stripped back to the bare concrete, new windows and patio doors, and the pool being dug up. This means there is a lot of building noise from 8am from heavy machinery, drilling, you name it. This was something the company we booked the hotel through did not mention and nor did the reception staff when we arrived late at night. To say the area is dusty with concrete is an understatement and although I have no doubt the hotel next door will look fantastic when finished as it's attached to Green Park you may as well be in the middle of the building works yourself.Putting this aside the hotel still hasn't paid any attention to reviews about sun loungers, the smoking area being up 3 flights of stairs to the solarium, or the pool being dirty. The room was not cleaned regularly, ours was done once the whole week we were here - not hygienic when they tell you to put the toilet roll in a bin and not flush.Reception staff are always lovely

Ok so location is OK,local to bars, restaurants and shops, but after that there are NOT many plusesRoom was clean upon arrival, we were there 10 days and had to ask for clean towels, the second time we asked we were ignored, bins were only emptied once, NO change of bedding, despite talking to reception , and floor was mopped once, basically ZERO cleaning, ok it was cheap but jezzz, even for cheap you expect at least basic cleaning and service Kitchen, absolute minimum , 3 of spoon, knife, fork, 1 saucepan, frying pan, 1 not so sharp knife, 1 ladle, and nothing elseBasic kettle and microwave, 2 hot plates, basic kitchen area, pretty much typical of hotels in the area, but really really basicShower was sizeable, half a screen door which allowed most of the water to create a pool on the bathroom floor, oh and the spray was very wide, but surprisingly plenty of hot water Beds, 2 singles in an open plan studio, they were comfortable, but oh my lor, they had duvets on , way way to warm, we used the duvets to .make to sofa comfortable , and if your planning on sleeping before 1am, use ear plugs and eye mask, the hotel near by has terrible very loud entertainment, oh and the balcony door does nothing to keep the noise out, nor do the curtains keep out any light Lounge area, very uncomfortable sofa, dirty covers on "backs and seat", alias we covered them with the duvets, small TV on the wall, don't for get to pay €10 for the remote, get a receipt Balcony, north facing, overlooking carpark, typical cheap plastic chairs and table, small clothes airer on wall, nothing excitingThe pool, 🤮🤢, don't bother, black grime all around edges,I'm surprised its not been made a health violation loungers are vile, no smoking except for on the terrace If you don't mind less then basic services, a health issue swim, and no clean towels or bedding then this is the place for youOh you have to pay €10 for a second key, make sure you get a receipt for it or they will argue about it !!!

    Cheapest option.Friendly staff.Room#140 by pool only good for 2.Noisy doors.Sofabed uncomfortable.Lacks cutlery/corkscrw

1-7/12/25 - Room #140We three middle aged guys from London were back in Gran Can dusting at the same hotel as eighteen months before. The prices online were acceptable and we knew the establishment good features, warts and all. I left a comprehensive review in MarchWe arrived late afternoon to be greeted and checked in by friendly Brian. The decor was slightly different with new management (G&G) having taken. A fancy guest book had good comments written in it. I asked if we were away from the noisy bars on the main road and he explained we were at the back (thank goodness). The Wi-Fi code was displayed and he explained it was free (unlike last time), already an improvement. He sent us to room 140 which was on the first floor overlooking the pool. The room layout was the same as before with old maps of fire exits showing the two hotels as one before the family rift.Free wi-fi was actually fast and reliable (and even faster by the pool bar). The medium size wall mounted led LG TV has hdmi socket to the side so we could watch some downloaded bbc programmes via my phone and an adapter (usbC-HDMI).The kitchen was fairly well equipped again but this time only had two of the cutlery (although they knew three of us booked) and no corkscrew (they must get stolen). I asked the receptionist for the cutlery which was delivered but the management has taken the corkscrews away. I bought a waiter’s friend from the local Chinese shop the other side of the dual carriageway via the bridge towards Lidl. It was only €2.20 and we will probably leave it behind as we have hand luggage only on the flight. There were three IKEA tumblers but no wine glasses in a country that makes wine! No mugs either (I like a nice big cuppa!)The kitchenette/diner/lounge had a fridge, built in microwave, new kettle, toaster, a table, three chairs, sofa bed. There was no fan or A/C as it was facing north (no problem).Once again our friend was in the third bed/sofa bed and found it very uncomfortable, needed to add blankets as padding. The balcony double glazed sliding picture windows overlooking the pool kept the road noise to a minimum. I swapped my bed with the ‘sofa’ bed and found it very uncomfortable. This should not be sold as an apartment with a third adult bed. Maybe a child could sleep on it.A Van Goch adorned the wall this time (A little tree with a story). The twin double bedroom had adequate storage and a safe (unused) but again not enough sockets on the window side so my expectations came in useful again. One of the pillows was sausage shaped, hard and quite uncomfortable. Maybe it’s a skandi thing? The bathroom was clean but had no surfaces for one, let alone three, people to put their toiletries on. A lot had to go on the floor (which was clean but judging by some of the elderly clientele would have been difficult to access). Management, please install a set of three simple waterproof shelves. My plug in light bulb on a cable (brought again) helped shaving as the central light was not direct enough. My light was also used in the kitchen to light the preparation surface by the hob. It was not easy to attach it though as no hooks on the wall or units, only the door handles. The shower was a simple showerhead which was a bit loose but the water was reasonably strong and hot (too hot of taps turned on hot generally). The toilet flush was weak so the toilet brush was required occasionally. The tap water pressure and design was great for flushing out my razor. The small balcony had a round table with the upvc chairs round it. There was also a useful clothes drying rack. There were three upvc chairs and a small round upvc table which was nice for breakfast but was quite cold as on the north side of the building; nice bright views of the pool and hills though!Whilst staying it was quite windy and there was a frequent ‘hoot’ from between the window/door gaps even when closed. A brush strip should reduce this. The pool itself was little used by the (generally older) sunbathing clientele. The water was cool but my friends got used to it (I don’t swim). The pool area was pleasant enough after getting used to the adjacent dual carriageway traffic. The weather we had in early December included spits and spats of rain from far off clouds in the high winds whilst the sun shone…an odd sensation being tickled by fine rain in the heat of the sun. Again the upvc sunbeds were uncomfortable. The sunbeds on the roof were plastic fabric and much more comfortable albeit older. This was a designated area for smokers with bins, although quite windy and unused when we were there to watch sunsets. One issue was loud slamming doors at night, especially if windy. Some doors were noisy closing as tight fits. On one night the neighbours at 142 had a massive argument at 05:30 hours waking up my friends. I was still out on the town so missed it. Another night there were constant door bell rings in the very late evening. You can't choose your neighbours. I think 138 were permanent residents/a manager as the balcony was well furnished with house plants. On the Saturday evening we returned to find the bed sheets and towels had been changed but not the sofa bed. The cleaners were not notified three of us were staying.Reception were friendly enough, we arrived with aOverall the stay was pleasant but niggling issues like no wine glasses, no sets of three cutlery, lack of electric sockets on left hand side of bed, very bad sofa bed (better to sleep on the floor with sheets and pillows). Lack of storage space in bathroom and lounge (a permanent sofa bed during the day with clothes lying around (a proper wardrobe in the corner wold have helped) is not relaxing. We paid extra for the third person. It a be a great apartment for two but three is pushing it! It was the cheapest option we could find at the time though. The new management just have to tweak things a little. Maybe they are and we just got an unrenovated room?
