Great - so long as you don't need to sleep

    rating17 Jan 2026

This should have been an amazing experience - beautiful building in stunning grounds, great location, two Michelin restaurants, friendly obliging well-trained staff. But there's one huge negative about Hotel Catalina: it's INCREDIBLY noisy, easily the noisiest 5-star hotel I've stayed in in a quarter of a century of regular travel. The floors in the rooms are marble and entirely uncarpeted, which looks great but offers zero sound proofing. In our first night we were kept awake for hours after midnight by people upstairs - not because they were partying but rather simply because they were up, moving around and occasionally repositioning their chairs - this latter being astonishing loud. Some rooms - and we stayed in three during our three-night stay - have got heavy wooden sliding doors to the bathrooms that again look good but are unsecured at the bottom, meaning they bang about before coming to rest. You can hear your neighbours' doors banging whenever they open and close them. And that's without factoring in noise from the rooftop bar, open at weekends into the small hours, which multiple reviewers have complained about but which was closed during our stay because of the weather. We so looking forward to unwinding here but ultimately it proved the opposite of relaxing. Hugely disappointing. Unless you're feeling lucky or you're a heavy sleeper, my advice would be to look elsewhere.

    Nerver seen more disgusting room

    rating05 Jan 2026

We got to the hotel and it was so dirty I had to wash my hands after touching the counter. When I got to the bathroom it looked like someone had been there and made a mess it was a layer of water under the sope aswell. The first thing we noticed was the smell of chemicals so we had to open the door to breathe. When we looked closer we found mold and footprints on the wall. Disgusting, never think about staying here. We left after 10 min without any help from the "hotel"

Very bad experience from all points of view

    rating01 Jan 2026

Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Catalina was mostly unpleasant for several reasons. We didn’t read the reviews carefully enough, and the extreme noise from the street/area during weekends (and around the hotel) is clearly mentioned there. We understand the hotel may not be fully responsible for the outside noise, even if it affects the property, but everything else was also unsatisfactory. Our room was not cleaned for the first three days, even though—according to the hotel’s policy—cleaning should be done daily (our booking was for five days). When we asked about it, we were told that there were personal items on the floor and the cleaning staff could not touch them. However, we only had our luggage on the floor, and since the room had no wardrobe, the floor was the only place we could keep our bags.On the first day, we also found a cockroach in the room. We understand this can happen on the island, but the staff did absolutely nothing after we reported it.Speaking of the staff: they were very friendly at the beginning, but they were completely unresponsive to our feedback. Each floor is supposed to have a coffee corner, as advertised on Booking.com and as mentioned by staff at check-in. In reality, there was never any coffee or cups/pots available—not once in five days. We informed the staff on the first day and asked them to refill it. The receptionist said she would speak to the manager, but nothing changed.Considering all of this—and because we were also worried about the noise we expected on New Year’s Eve—we decided to check out early. In my opinion, this hotel should either lower its prices or improve its services, because the rates are not proportionate to the comfort (and discomfort) offered. Not recommended.

Terrible experience. It is a scam, no care about people at all. Will never recommend to anyone.

    rating20 Apr 2025

TERRIBLE attitude, terrible hotel, recommend never going, this is a scam, no customer care at all.We arrived in the evening super tired, looking forward to sleeping, just to find a super, super!! noisy DJ party in the bar right downstairs boom-boom reverberating through all the walls. We were told the party would go on till about 1am and there were no options for us. Given that the window in the room was broken (yes!), we could not even close it properly to reduce the noise. The room was a total disaster to stay in even for 10 minutes - this level of noise is unhealthy, let alone not conducive to sleep even for those with no sleep issues. The hotel said they could not do anything for us and we left with all our luggage at 22+ to look for another hotel. Believe it or not, the hotel refused to refund us the money, because 'the bookings are non-refundable' and 'we cannot do anything' (said multiple times by the manager). And better yet, "have you not seen where you are booking"? Or "Have you not read the reviews'? Seriously? Since when do you need to be an expert in a city nightlife to book a place? Is there no responsibility when you call yourself a hotel? SUPER disappointed at this attitude!! The managers of this place: you may have kept my 58 euros, but you lost 2 clients FOR LIFE and let's see how many more people will change their mind after they read reviews like that. Good luck with doing business in this most client-unfriendly way.

    Never again

    rating25 Oct 2024

If you want one of these diy no-human-contact "hotels", this is for you.No normal check-in, no check-out, no bill when leaving, no diy coffee during my entire stay of 4 days despite asking, no shower gel, over the weekend no sleep due to the noisy bars and restaurants on weekends. The so called "park" is filled at night with unhoused people and druggies. Adding insult to injury, on my last day I made use of a human manning the receptionstation and asked for a taxi to the airport, which of course never materialized. The room was spacious but that's about it. With regards to all of the above, the place is totally overpriced.
