  IG Yaizasol Apartments and Puerto Rico

  Will start with the positives as little negatives to list.We love Puerto Rico, and this is our second visit to the Island; our first to the IG Yaizasol Apartments. Our holiday was for 12 days, all of which we spent in the PR area.Apartments:The apartments were extremely clean; I am very fussy about cleanliness and could not fault them at all. They were cleaned every day except Sunday and Wednesdays.The furnishings were modern and had plenty of cooking facilities if needed, including washing up liquid, washing brush and a tea towel.The bathroom had a decent hairdryer with shower gel included in the shower area. The shower had amazing power to it.The pool was large and exceptionally clean, with showers and with plenty of sunbeds.The solarium was also exceptionally clean, with a hot tub, showers, and plenty of sunbeds.Restaurant:The restaurant we used for breakfast and happy hour when at the pool area! The selection was perfect, and we could even order our eggs fresh every morning. My husband often order bacon as well as fried eggs and I ordered the scrambled eggs. Delicious and fresh. The rest of the buffet was extensive enough with the bonus of having fresh coffee from the machine, which was a nice touch.Jose the waiter was lovely, very attentive an asset to the hotel. He even helped me with my Spanish pronunciation! Happy hour was between 12-1pm and 3-4 pm, with excellent choice of cocktails; for 2 this added to 7 Euros which we felt was great value for money.Location:The location was wonderfully quiet, with minimal noise of the town of an evening.; the perfect place to watch the sunset from the balcony.It was easy enough to walk to the amenities both in the main shopping Centre and the beach, which took around 125-20 mins either via the road or the stairs located in front of the main hotel. Local amenities/ restaurants:We did a couple of trips including the ‘executive boat trip’ this was enjoyable with lovely food and drinks included such as Sangria, Lager, and soft drinks. The trip included extras such as jet skis parascending, banana boat, snorkeling and kayaking. We really enjoyed the day out; it was extremely well organised.We booked an independent Parascend which took us out to sea for over an hour. The Parascend took us up to 300 Meters. This was a bucket list for my 50th Birthday and it was well worth it! Exhilarating is all I can say! With breath taking views of the area. Well worth experience!We tried several restaurants along the harbor and shopping center, and we felt that some were a little overrated. We did find a gem of an Indian restraint called ‘Taj Palace’ which was along side the smaller harbor. The staff in there are brilliant! Very attentive and the food was excellent quality and very nicely spiced. Beach:We love PR beach and spent a number of days there, again it was very clean and not crowded. It had a good feel and atmosphere each time we sent. Our only negatives:The apartment had a few scuffs and marks. The bathroom was very small, to the point where it was difficult to use the toilet!The bedroom was also small, with little room for 2 people to walk past each other when hanging clothes etc...There did not seem to be any eating knives in our apartment which was not an issue for us as we ate out most nights.The pool area to the apartments was used by the ground floor apartments so at times felt very crowded and noisy as the surrounding space was small. There certainly were not enough loungers for the block so not sure how busy it will be at the height of the season.The walk up and down to the beach and center was challenging when very hot, so we used a taxi for the return journey back to the hotel.The tour company we used didn't inform us that we would be dropped at the bottom of the hill. This was awful after a full day travelling. Other companies made the effort to drive up to the hotel in a coach. We were slightly annoyed by this. That being said, overall, it was a lovely holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff really make this hotel, always so friendly and helpful, thank you team Yaizasol!   Just got back from our holiday yesterday. My husband and I had a fab holiday but this is purely down to enjoying Puerto Rico as a destination. Sadly we were extremely disappointed with Yaizasol Apartments. The dining/living area is perceived to be nice and spacious giving some separation on the photos online but in reality it’s quite cramped. The decor looked fabulous. My first observation when I walked in was the decor did resemble what was shown online but there were a lot of scuffs and it was quite dirty round the edges. The tv was fixed to the wall in such an odd position, not in front of the sofa as expected, but on the side wall and was so high just below ceiling level, it was impossible to watch this for any period of time. We paid for a 1-bed apartment. In reality what you get is a studio with the bathroom built in the middle. The bedroom does not have a door, it was designed this way and everything is open from the dining room. The bathroom is quite small and everything has been cramped in together. There is no air flow in here, not even a fan which makes you very hot and bothered when getting out of the shower. The tiles, fixtures, and fittings are all very worn. Whenever we used the toilet it moved and made a terrible grinding noise when being flushed. Probably one of the worst things for us was the actual entrance door to get into the apartment. This was made of frosted glass and was positioned directly across from our bathroom. To make matters worse we shared access to our apartment with our neighbour so their entrance door was directly facing ours less than 1m away. We did not have a curtain or blind to close off the light coming through the door so if our neighbours had their lights on all night this would shine into our bedroom. A couple of nights I actually woke up wondering what was happening because I thought somebody was trying to unlock our door when in fact it was the neighbours returning to their apartment! The bedding was relatively clean but the stuffing in my pillow had seen better days. On the last day of our holiday I unfortunately got a piece of glass stuck in my foot out of the pool. The location of the hotel isn’t to bad. If your self catering and want to eat outside of the hotel you need to go down to the shopping centre. The nearest shop besides this is not a great walk but it up and down hills/steps which got a bit to much for us when the temperature got to its peak therefore we would have appreciated having a bar on-site at the very minimum. Overall , unfortunately for the price we paid, we will definitely not be revisiting this hotel again.

  Nice aprtments, but POOR wifi

  Clean apartments and well placed, close to the city center. However, if you want to use the internet, look elsewhere. The speed ranges from 0.3 to 1.5 mbps, which is extremely poor (the island average is over 50).You simply van not use the internet to work, as even emails take minutes to load, so NO chance of videocalls.   Really lovely place to stay in Gran Canaria

  Stayed here for a week at the end of September. Booked last minute through TUI. These apartments are part of a hotel complex, the hotel is next door. I had a premium apartment and it was quiet, immaculately clean and met my needs. Shower was great, powerful with hot water. Beds were comfortable although the pillows were a little on the lumpy side, but not too bad. Apartment was cleaned 5 days a week. Air conditioning was a bonus and needed as it was really hot. I loved the rooftop terrace, it got the sun from 11am for the whole day. Jacuzzi was great. Pool was great too, sun from midday onwards. I stayed half board, the breakfast was great, unlimited coffee, juice, fruit, pastries and hot breakfast cooked to order. Dinner menu was a little limited and I would have liked a little more flavour with some dishes- but overall exactly what I wanted. Bar was good with great cocktails and service was exceptional. Apartments located a 10 minute walk from the beach. Yes it’s on a hill but really not too bad. Close to supermarket and other shops. I came for a relaxing week and that’s exactly what I got.   Very nice Apartments quite exclusive
