Location

This hotel is situated in one of the most attractive areas of the island, in the heart of Guiniguada valley, one of the most important on Gran Canaria. The island's government has implemented a project here to improve and beautify the area. The Maipez mountains, after which the hotel is named, cover an area of around 30,000 m³. Volcanic eruptions and the solidification of the lava flow shaped these mountains. This hotel is located in La Calzada, in the north of Gran Canaria and only around 10 minutes away from the capital and around 25 minutes from the airport.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 10 rooms, including junior suites, 2 suites and 7 double rooms, located in a 2-storey main building and an auxiliary building. The reception desk is open round the clock. To ensure guests a comfortable and relaxing stay, the hotel provides various services and facilities, including a baggage storage service, a TV room, a car hire service, a laundry service, a conference room, a banquet hall and a coin-operated laundry. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel offers various facilities for guests with disabilities.     Warm helpful staff offered us use of the coffee machine, as we were waiting to check in. They helped with our bags and we were offered the shared use of a fridge in a communal area. What really stood out was that they let us have breakfast extra early, as we had an early flight. We arrived at the dining room a few minutes earlier than we had arranged, thinking we would just avail of the 24-hours a day coffee machine. (It’s good - - it grinds the beans for every cup. There were other hot drinks too, not just coffee.) They had already set out the cold items and they invited us to start: What fabulous hospitality! Some may be interested to know that they had cartons of Lactose Free Milk and also a Plant Based Milk. Gluten Free people, there were plain oats and ordinary cornflakes, not certified as free from cross contamination, but it may help some people who don’t need to be strict. There were hard boiled eggs, salamis, cheese, and bread rolls hot out of the oven, and pancakes. They brought out chocolate pastries straight from the oven. Whole kiwis were perfectly ripe and juicy. There were apples and tinned apricots too. There were other items, this is just a few. Sadly, we couldn’t linger, but we were delighted with the breakfast and the warmth of the staff.The special lighting in the online photos really brings out the nicer qualities of the hotel. In person, the room itself was Spartan. Maybe the neutral bedspread didn't help. It looked cosier when I got out the big white fluffy duvet. We liked the thick walls and the quality of the furniture. Maybe it’s just me, but a room that size should have more than one chair. It was a nice chair. Wifi was good. The bathroom was clean and brightly lit, with a hairdryer, as well as dental sets, razors, and shower caps. I bet that if you need something, you could just ask. We enjoyed our stroll through the grounds, admiring the flowers. It’s very obvious why people would want to have weddings here. These are nice people, who want to be helpful.

    The rooms were great and as described in the pictures. It was very quiet. The rooms were very clean. We even got to rent equipment at the nearby tennis courts as a courtesy of the hotel.The owner is very sweet and welcoming and really made us feel at home. Will stay here again and recommend to people.

    This lovely hotel has a an authentic charm and is beautiful, quiet and rural. Luis, the owner, is very kind and does his best to make sure your stay is as relaxing and comfortable as possible. All of the staff are friendly and the cleaning staff do a wonderful job. The breakfast is tasty, too. My only recommendation would be to include fans in the rooms as it can get quite warm and some hotel room windows face out to the path surrounding the hotel, so windows cannot be opened too wide during the night. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    One of the best hotel we stayed in Gran Canaria. In countryside with a rustic charm to the place. La palma 15 mins drive and villages accessible easily. Breakfast section small but had good options. We spoke to owner Mr Luis Sicilia who was through gentleman and informed us he is ex-president of La Palma football club. Parking was no problem on site and not noisy. Really enjoyed our stay and thank you to the owner and team for running it so well.
