  Terrible smelly, bad odor rooms beware

  This was a terrible experience. Started with a front desk agent named Martha she was extremely rude, giving dirty sarcastic looks and remarks. Alot of guests agreed she was a very rude person and her character (Martha's ) has been like this rude with dirty looks for years according to guests who went regularly. The rooms smelled so bad we had to switch rooms thinking the other room would not stink! But is smelled, like mold, rust, septic fumes we had difficulty breathing we slept on the balcony ! There was an old disgusting green molded stained couch inside i almost threw up! The beds /mattress hard like a rock ! My husband got lung breathing issue due to that disgusting odor and the air conditioner which smelled like rotten eggs !! Ventilation system in rooms awful please be careful if your asthmatic or lung issues !!!! Never will i step foot in that resort again even if it is given to me for free!!! I need to recover from lack of sleep, extreme odor, fatigue, and birds flying all over the food in the restaurant all over the plates of the food from the birds.Dear Lord!!!

  We stayed here after Christmas and through new year. This was our 4th stay here so we know what to expect. We had a room in the north tower. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our shower had hot water and good pressure. Communication could improve. I was in line for dinner reservations with several other people one morning. Once the guy came out at 8 he informed everyone that there was no dinner that night. A simple sign on the desk would have been sufficient. Or, the front desk staff could have told everyone. The best dinner of the week was New Year's eve. They put together a great celebration. I feel like the online check in is a waste of time. They still ask for passport and id when you get there.   Looking for new resort to work remotely from. Seen the ads many times . Booked for the beginning to march. Got to resort about 10-12 people in single line to check in one girl working the desk. Other workers we're behind desk but they didn't offer to help. When booking I asked for a room with wifi/internet she told me no problem . Get to room - none. Went to lobby to use wifi it worked most of the times however sometimes there was none. They said they will fix it. The AC in the room was very loud and stopped working during the night - they had someone come up at 11 pm and fix it. They room was very dated , the safe box was very small, The beach is great - probably best part of the resort. The dinner buffet was not what i expected = long line fr grill, numerous pans that with chicken and other entrees looked like hey were there for hours , many were empty . No one will bring you a glass of water or drinks you have to go to the buffet and get them your self, Asked one of the waiters for fork and knife napkin. With no internet despite several request to fix I gave up asked if they would let me not of my booking - they said you must talk with guest services fist - talked with him - Nice guy he said yes. Had me sign a paper I would pay for the one night i used. and I left - rebooked at different hotel . After about 45 days of emails and calls I was told they don't give any refunds back to me when I leave. I liked the resort despite being dated - I thought it was was lacking class to let out of my booking and keep the money .   Food was terrible ! Check in took more than 2 hours. Front Desk does not work to accomodate you. zero entertainment! Rooms are outdated and dirty walls, doors, water wear in room- mold in shower, paint falling off. Small double beds. Downtown to deal for excursions and save tons.   Pleasantly Surprised

  I went into this trip with zero expectations. It was a pivot from a cancelled Cuba trip and, after having ready so many terrible reviews, I was sceptical. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when we got there. Hotel was clean and well kept. Our room was huge and always well taken care of. Bed was firm but comfortable. They cleaned the pools every morning. Food was great and plentiful. We never had an issue getting drinks at any of the bars. We managed to eat at the à la cartes most nights and the menu changed daily. I wish it had been open on Sunday as that was our last night. There was a big storm our first night so the sargassum was bad the first few days but snorkeling was great a bit down the beach. Taxi to town was $10 so we went in a few times. All in all a fantastic vacation and I’d for sure go back!
