  Great boutique hotel close to Vegueta area. Rooms are large and modern. The balconies are spacious and have amazing views. The honour bar is is appreciated convenience.   Just returned from here after a 5 night stay. We stayed in room 8 which is a rooftop room with a terrace - highly recommended. From the moment we arrived the staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is impeccable and the rooms cleaned to a high standard. Hotel is located in a great location - short walk to many bars, restaurants and attractions. As its an old building there isnt space for a pool which in high season would be great. My only comments for improvements are maybe have a pillow menu as our pillows were very soft and at breakfast the cooked items arent kept very warm Lucía Cortezo, Director General at Suites 1478, responded to this review Thank you very much for your great words.   Fantastic, central location in the old part of town.The building is stunning.Staff are very helpful and thee buffet breakfast is delicious lots of local options both hot and cold with delicious pastries too.If possible, try and stay in Suite 9 - on the roof top with 2 separate private terraces.We stayed 2 nights, one at the start of our holiday and one on returning from El Hierro.The bus both from and to the airport is approx a 10 minute easy walk.   A pleasant stay in the midst of historic LP.The staff really made us to feel comfortable and welcome.Breakfast excellent.The beds comfortable.We tried both uraban suite and terrace suite, penthouse. I’m not quite sure if the difference between the urban and top suite is worth the investment. The urban suite is in ground floor fasing the street. It is not a surprise you hear the traffick as in any other urban accomodation if you start to listen snd let it disturb you. Nights were quiet though. The urban suite is spacious.   Worst management ever

  Being a travel agent who have been to more than 100 countries, I feel very confident to say that based on my experience, this hotel has the worst management ever. I must admit I’ve never seen such a poorly managed hotel (IF we can call it a hotel, because for me it looks more like a hostel). And before I get a reply like the one I got on my Google review, asking me to share more details by email about our bad experience, let me tell you that I've sent two very long emails to the hotel's management (during our stay and after the publication of our review on Google). None of them have been answered.If you are considering a stay here, please keep in mind that, from my experience, whoever is in the management position will literally run away from any issue you might have as a guest. Not kidding. We saw the manager running down the stairs by the time we checked out, so she wouldn't have to look in our eyes and hear our comments. During our terrible stay, the negligent management always tried to throw all the responsibility of everything that went wrong on the back of their poorly trained staff (which is also a strong sign of how this place is terribly managed). It's noticeable how the staff there seems unhappy with their jobs. No smiles, no warm greetings... and worst of all: the rudeness and complete lack of common sense by some staff members (including the manager) made a lady from my family felt very intimidated after the bad treatment she received. They refer themselves as a 5-star hotel, but a true 5-star hotel would never intimidate their guests and would never be so uncapable of dealing with any issues.The way we felt this hotel is managed is such a shame to Gran Canaria tourism (the island is full of beautiful places and nice people; it's the hotel that differs from all the rest, giving us a feeling of how it might have been during the inquisition period instead of being a warm and welcoming place).Some other important things to mention about our stay:1- 4 days without hot water. Be extra careful, especially if you are staying on room #1 or room #2. They don’t know how to solve this issue, and the manager will aggressively say that they cannot get anyone to go there fix it during your whole stay.2- they don’t replace the toilet paper in the room. If you dare to ask them for more, they will laugh at you, just like some high school bullies.3- the bath towels have a very low quality. You can see it through the pictures attached to this review. And according to a young guy who is one of the poorly trained staff members of this place, the hotel will charge you if you ask for any extra towel.4- and if you dare to ask for an extra towel, the manager will interrogate you like the police, asking why do you need another towel, saying that "this is not what normal people do".The hotel works like a prison. The staff seem to think they are the security guards from a detention facility. It’s a joke that this place claim to be 5-star. We've never felt so disrespected and uncomfortable anywhere like we did here. I can easily say this was the worst place we've ever stayed.It's actually incredible that instead of trying to deal with the issues we had during our stay in a smart and easy way, they chose the hard path. Come on, it's not that difficult to give an extra towel for a guest, especially when we are taking only cold showers because of the lack of hot water in the hotel; it's not that difficult to try to fix an issue that's been reported during four consecutive days; it's not that difficult to have a manager that is capable of looking in your eyes and say that she's sorry for all the misfortune we had during our stay. But they chose to assume an arrogant and negligent behavior. And that's the result of it.
