  This is a great place and will stay here again. The reason for only giving three stars, is that the paperwork on checking in says if you need a late check this costs 20 euro, subject to availability ability. However when you try to get this it jumps to 65 euro because there is no availability???????? If there is no availability then where will you be put. Need to work on their paperwork.

  Very clean, quite and peaceful

  Very clean and exceptionally peaceful and quiet at night. No air conditioning which I first thought would be a big problem (36 degrees when here) but it was okay: so quiet and secure that the windows could easily be left open overnight. People in some bungalows actually slept on their outside patios. The bungalows are very pleasant, basic but more than adequate and well cleaned.The location is a little bit out of the way: 15 min walk to nearest real supermarket (although an onsite shop sells water and some basics) and about 40 min walk to beach so tend to use taxis (about 6 euros to Faro beach and about 7 euros to Yumbo Centre) but this expense is offset by the reasonable price of the accommodation. I have booked here again for April because it is nice to have the option of being able to enjoy a quiet, peaceful evening just on the patio or going out if you want. ( In many other locations the noise from adjoining areas can mean you almost have to go out because it is not peaceful where you are anyway).

  The accommodation ‘Tara Bungalows’ in Maspalomas was very old, dated, run down and lacked the basic essentials that you would expect in any holiday accommodation in Gran Canaria or any other hot country. While the bungalow was clean, it had nothing but very basic facilities, two very narrow single beds (not a double), no kettle and most importantly NO AIR CONDITIONING which made it unbearable during the extreme heat of August. Reception staff were nice enough, but when we spoke to them about the lack of air con etc, they informed us that there was a long list of items that were available to hire as extras, including fans, kettles, air conditioning units and even the remote control to make the TV work!The complex was full of mainly Spanish people who were ‘hogging’ the very compact pool area, lots of small children running around and most surprisingly there were at least two groups of Spanish lads in their early 20s booked in there too (one group next door to us). They were very loud and intimidating, playing music full blast all afternoon and evening. My wife also caught them ogling her a few times as she sunbathed outside our bungalow, which made her feel very uncomfortable.There’s a reason that this place was cheap and that's because it's rubbish. We checked out after two nights and paid for far better accommodation around the corner.

  Really great, small and quiet site of well presented bungalows. Staff were amazing, couldn't do more to help. There is a small supermarket attached to the reception area and also a pool bar. Reception staff were amazing.The bar tender was brilliant and always made us laugh and smile She was another Ray of sunshine in an already sunny environment.The location was great for the beach and local and island wide bus services.Would definitely stay here again.

  We stayed here for a two week very needed holiday. After a terrible year, it was nice to get away. Maspalomas/Melonares now seems to be 90% German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish and 10% British. We've been to the island seven times now, but don't think we'll be returning. Maspalomas seems to have lost its soul. Run down Faro 11, one bar and two restaurants (supermarket of course), so a walk down to the lighthouse for food. GC seems to be now only interested in the 90% and seemed to put us last. Very disappointing. Bungalows Tara was basic, but thats what we like. Clean, tidy with very nice staff. No kettle unfortunately and our two ring hob didn't work. The beds need sorting though. I slept on the couch as my bed made such a noise when I moved, that it woke both hubby and I. The complex was quiet and well maintained. Tara I would recommend - Maspalomas - maybe not.P.S. the lady at the pool bar (Peta I think?) was such a lovely lady, she is an asset.
