Location

Centrally located on a main road in the business district of the city, this historical hotel lies within a short distance of the tourist centre with its many restaurants, links to the transport network and shops. The designer hotel is also within a stone's throw of the cathedral, the Capilla Real (royal chapel), the old Jewish Quarter of the city and the city hall. It is around 5 minutes' walk to the Albaicin district, Sacromonte Abbey and the Alhambra. The railway station is 1 km away and it is 15 km to the airport. The nearest ski resort is approximately 30 km from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1890. Guests have a choice of 42 rooms located in two 4-storey buildings with lifts. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Palacio de los Patos!! The main hotel was beautiful! We stayed in the newer annex and our room was newly renovated. Every person we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Juan, at reception, was particularly helpful and nice. We highly recommend this hotel!     This is not a 5★ experience — and it’s important people know that before booking.I’ve given this hotel multiple chances. Several visits were acceptable, which makes the overall failure even more frustrating — because the problems are not accidental, they’re systemic.On our stay, we were initially placed in the wrong room — not what we booked, not what was advertised. This was only corrected after we challenged it. Calling that an “upgrade” afterwards is simply rewriting the situation. It was a mistake that had to be fixed, not a gesture.The restaurant experience was far worse.One of the dishes served (fish) was clearly off — the smell alone made that obvious. This wasn’t just my opinion: the assistant restaurant manager openly acknowledged the issue, even though the chef did not. That tells you everything about the internal standards and communication. The food was inedible, and the rest of the meal was poor.What made it worse was the handling:We were expected to pay until I firmly refused. The bill was only adjusted because I pushed back — not because the hotel took responsibility. At a supposed 5★ property, you should not have to argue your way out of paying for food that is clearly not fit for consumption.After raising a formal complaint, the response has been equally disappointing. The hotel claims “gestures” were already made — but correcting their own mistakes and removing inedible food from a bill is not compensation. It’s the bare minimum.There has been no meaningful attempt to put things right. Instead, the offer is to come back and spend more money, with someone “overseeing” the visit. That completely misses the point.At this level, guests should not have to:* Identify and correct basic booking errors* Debate with staff about food quality* Refuse to pay for unacceptable dishes* Be told that fixing problems counts as goodwillThis is not a one-off — it’s a pattern of poor standards and weak accountability.Granada has many genuinely excellent hotels and restaurants that understand what 5★ service actually means. This is not one of them.If you value consistency, professionalism, and proper service recovery — think carefully before choosing this hotel.     Great staff, great location, rooms a bit dated.

    The hotel is in a great location and staff were wonderful. Jan is probably not the best time to visit given that one of the highlights of the hotel i.e. the inner courtyard, was too chilly to sit out in. The bar and restaurant were great with excellent breakfast choices and kind and attentive staff. My only negative comment is that the rooms are a bit dated at this point and could really need a freshening up for the price point being charged.     I would go back to Granada just to stay at this hotel! Not even kidding. The hotel was absolutely magnificent. The spa was fabulous. The staff was outstanding. The location is absolutely perfect.
