  Clean & comfortable hotel with very helpful staff. Easy & very inexpensive train & bus in to San Sebastian if no car, and the bus system is good for some touring from there. Limited only by evening public transport back from San Sebastian, but Taxis are not too expensive

  Stayed here as a group with fellow bikers. You can park motorbikes right outside the hotel. The hotel is 100% fab. Continental breakfast is A1, help yourself and plentiful and the rooms are lovely with comfortable beds, hot showers with towels, hairdryers plus shower gel, etc. You can use the foyer as we did in the evening playing cards. A language barrier (none of us speak Spanish or Basque) led to a few laughs but all the staff were great. We used the café/bar next door for refreshing beers (cheap and delicious) and ate here (restaurant quality food) as the restaurant is closed on a Monday. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and local. According to some reviews there is limited choice on the café/restaurant menu but 5 starters, 5 mains and 5 deserts is NOT limited. Plus a bottle of local wine and all three courses per person is a mere 17 euros. It was a completely different menu each night. I would go back for the food alone. Some reviews mention a strange location. It sits beside quite a busy road (so ask for a room on the quiet side) and at some stage I suspect land has been sold and a small industrial estate built next door. Its wedged between the two!!That said i'd go back again, pick a quite room and eat my way through the menu!!PS there is a quiet local bar about 1000 metres away that is very welcoming also.

  Lovely stay at the Palacio Atxega.Clean rooms with a good wifi connection.Helpful pleasant reception staff.Think there was restaurant next door, not sure if it was part of the hotel or not. We would have considered it if we had known a little bit more upon arrival.The only point to note is if you want to stay out after 10pm in San Sebastián and don't want to drive, just be aware it is approx €22 for a taxi ride back to the hotel.Would stay again. Highly recommend.

  Great transport links to San Sebastián and Bilbao

  We stayed here whilst touring with our car. It was easy and safe to park outside hotel. The train station was only a few minutes walk away and we could catch a train to either San Sebastián or Bilbao. The hotel was a small renovated basque palace over 300 years old. Although it was situated near a few industrial units we had lovely views from our room window over the gardens and mountains. The room was spacious and clean and the staff courteous and helpful. We had a great breakfast for 5 Euros and an excellent 3 course dinner with wine for 17 Euros in the restaurant next door. An excellent find and excellent value. We would stay again.

  Comfortable relaxing hotel, with rooms having character

  Everything was really good during our visit, only suggestion would that the menus and serving times for the bar and restaurant would be really helpful. I ate in the bar Friday night and what I had was very good. But then I realised there was a restaurant, that should be made more obvious as suggested, it looked very good.
