    Mixed impressions

    rating14 Sept 2024

First thing you need to know is how to get there and this is already quite a challenge. Coming from the city centre (i.e. from the bus station) you need to trace down the stop where bus no 33 passes. Then, you must take it (ticket can be purchased at the drivers and costs 1,70 euro as of September 2024) and get off at the stop called Otxoki Parkea. Here, stay brave and dive straight into the forest, taking the route going quite evenly along the height you are at (you do not climb up, neither walk down the hill). It is located a little to the right from where you have the part entrance (looking from the bus stop perspective). After some 15 minutes walk in the forest (no buildings or even signs on the way, just locals walking their dogs), you will suddenly see a big, rather modern yellowish building - this is the hostel. The rooms (at least the double room) are of fair size but their furnishing is a little ill-considered. Example: a nice chair placed at the wall between two beds with no desk. You can sit on it, or just use it as an additional open-space-wardrobe. Another example: a huge (as you see on the hostel pics) terrase in front of every(?) room, but completely empty. You can stand there to get some fresh air, or just... sit down on the floor tiles. The bathroom is nice but the bathtube might perfectly serve kids or anorectic people, only. Once you're in, you can't move with no rubbing against any of the bathtube parts. Dowstairs, there is a small bar (not open until late!) with some basic food (mind there is no shop nearby as you are in the middle of a forest!).The noise level was surprisingly low (no problems in sleeping at night) but maybe due to the time of the year (the beginning of September). My impression was there were a lot of free rooms, definitely no bigger (youth) groups present. Since San Sebastian is hugely overpriced, this might be a good alternative to stay cheaper in the city but you must be aware of what you decide to go for.

Affordable Option with a Buggy Surprise

    rating17 Aug 2023

My recent stay at Green Nest Hostel left me with mixed feelings. The decision to choose this hostel was primarily driven by its competitive pricing compared to other options in the area, and the presence of free parking and Wi-Fi.On the positive side, the availability of free parking and Wi-Fi was a definite plus, especially after a long drive. However, there was a notable drawback that significantly impacted my stay - the mosquito situation. The room lacked air conditioning, and with a desire for fresh air, I opened the window. Unfortunately, this decision led to an invasion of mosquitoes that made it nearly impossible to sleep comfortably. It's important for future guests to be aware of this issue, especially if staying during warmer months.

    Quiet Neighbourhood

    rating19 Dec 2022

I stayed here for one night. It is situated in the middle of an area with a lot of green cover. The hostel is in a quiet neighbourhood, rooms are well maintained, WiFi is quite good. There are good views from the balcony on the terrace. Staff are helpful.

Quiet, expensive, small room, good location if one wished less busyness, walkable from Cercanías and Euskotren.

    rating20 Jun 2022

I did choose the hostel exactly for it's location on a forested hill within the city. Regarding quiettness: It met my expectations!I booked a private room, and it lacked a chair and smalll table/ desk. Also, with 57 EUR I found it expensive, but that area generally is expensive. I did need an overnight stay due to lack of night trains. The corridors continuosly had playing some faint music. The door was well noise insulating, it could not be heard in the room. Also people outside where insulated well.Cercanías "Loiola" and Euskotren "Intxaurrondo" about 1km away. View into the greens and over the valley. A small balcony. A communal kitchen.
