    An excellent boutique hotel

    rating29 Apr 2026

If you want to splurge on an upscale hotel in Spain, the best way to do it is to visit a small city like San Sebastian where 4 and 5 star hotels are competitively priced. Arrizul Congress is an excellent boutique hotel. It's modern and the rooms are spacious and clean. The best thing I like about this hotel is the breakfast buffet. The food offering is extensive and the quality is very, very good.San Sebastian is famous for its tapas bars. There are a few located near the hotel. But the majority of the tapas bars are in the old town which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel across the bridge.

Clean, compact triple room in a great locaiton.

We had a triple room, it was small but very clean and the beds were comfortable. the location is fantastic, a short distance from the old town, train and bus stations. The staff are friendly and professional. The atmosphere was calm, though perhaps there is some noise transfer from other rooms and the corridor. We had a room overlooking a courtyard, which did have someone (badly) playing a guitar through the night, though i think this was from the residential block so nothing the hotel could do about it. We did not opt for breakfast or the gym so cannot comment on that. Would recommend if you are looking for a central location, away from the busier streets and only minutes from the beach and bars/restaurants of old town

    so so good but...

    rating07 Nov 2025

The good.Bedding, bed, pillows extremely comfortable. Shower powerful and lovely big soft towels. Black out curtains too. Nice touch to have free drinks in the fridge in the room and water replenished every day. Coffee downstairs, although free from 12-8, was awful. The location of the hotel is great. 7 mins walk from the bus station, 5 mins walk from the great Simona Coffee Club and even closer to Gerald's Bar.I didn't eat breakfast but it looked delicious.Staff were friendly, approachable and helpful re where to get a particular bus from etc.The good / bad.The gym is small. For a light framed woman like me, the weight selection was sufficient but a heavier man might like some heavier weights. The multi gym needs maintenance. i see it a lot in some hotel gyms; equipment is provided but not maintained and then it quickly becomes unusable. The wires need oiling, the bolt that enables the seat to be moved is stuck solid, probably with rust. The cross trainer is not working and because of where it's positioned, it makes the seated row function of the multi gym unusable. Personally, I would remove the cross trainer and replace it with a decent bench. The spinning bike was working fully though and pretty decent. The gym booking system could perhaps do with a re think. I'd booked for every morning when making my room booking yet one morning, I was told I hadn't booked and someone else was in there. The bad.On the second day, I reported to the hotel receptionist, about 8 am, that the armchair in my room was impossible to sit on as it had a horrible metal spring at the top of the cushion, so instead of sitting on a padded cushion, I was sitting on twisted lump of metal/spring. I mentioned it again on day 3 as it hadn't been replaced. I mentioned it again on day 4 as it still hadn't been replaced and it was eventually replaced late afternoon on day 4, just before I was leaving the next day. Not good enough for the price i was paying for the room and for a 4 start hotel. One the whole, the good outweighed the bad and I'd definitely stay again.

Hotel in old town walking distance to many places

    rating11 Oct 2025

Very comfortable accommodations in old town San Sebastián. There is complimentary coffee and soft drinks during the day and they provide these plus champagne in the minibar. It is located in the old town walking distance to restaurants, the beach and to the funicular. Concha beach is very close. There is a convenient market across the street and cafes around the corner. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. If you rent a car, get a small one as the parking structure is very tricky with tight spaces. We drove to LaGuardia for an afternoon of exploring wineries. Very quaint area and always felt safe.
