Location

Located between the beaches of La Concha and La Zurriola and in front of the Victoria Eugenia Theatre and the Kursaal, this historic city hotel stands majestically in the heart of the city. It is located in the lively, historical city centre, with views of the river Urumea and the Cantabrian Sea. Surrounded by promenades and gardens, it is an oasis of peace. It is just a short walk from the town's most elegant shopping area and the San Telmo Museum, the Old Quarter is also within walking distance, but a little further away. Chillida Leku Museum is 7 km away.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1912. 16 junior suites, 11 suites, apartments, studios, 12 single rooms and 97 double rooms are available to guests in a 5-storey main building and a 5-storey auxiliary building. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Services such as a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities and 3 lifts. There are a number of shops as well. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service (for a fee), an alarm call service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Active guests who wish to explore the surrounding area by bike will appreciate the bicycle hire service. Bicycle storage is also available. A business centre with fax machine and projector is available. 7 conference rooms are available for lectures, presentations and meetings.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and individually adjustable heating. Guests can enjoy the garden view from a balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a king-size bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a mini fridge included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Guests can take advantage of the nightly turndown service. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, bathrobes and a telephone are available for daily use. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available. The hotel has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

A sun terrace is a great place to while away the hours. The hotel offers an extensive outdoor sports programme, including cycling/mountain biking, golf, fishing and horse riding. With windsurfing, canoeing, snorkelling and diving available, fans of water sports will have plenty to choose from. Sport and leisure options include callisthenics or, for a fee, a gym and aerobics. A spa and a sauna are available in the wellness area. Parents can unwind while the kids can participate in an entertainment programme full of fun activities.

Meals

Dining facilities include a breakfast room, a café and a bar. Guests can enjoy the culinary delights of the non-smoking, air-conditioned restaurant, which provides high chairs for children. At breakfast, guests serve themselves at the generous buffet. Various dishes can be ordered à la carte for lunch and dinner. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    What an experience! What luxury! What a beautiful hotel! From arrival to departure we‘ve been treated like royalty. The room was beautifully laid out with the biggest bed we have ever seen! The food and drink was great and the service was exceptional, especially Nandy and Aitor, but all of the staff were wonderful. Well worth the price of the stay!

    Faultless in every aspect, an expensive hotel but worth every penny. Every detail was managed through with courtesy and respect, room service was superb three times a dat to replace towels, leave chocolates, replace bottles of water, drawing curtains in fact everything to make our stay nice. Breakfast staff nothing was to much trouble again perfect, reception staff friendly and efficient. I started saying it was perfect and that’s how I will leave it.

    Marie Cristina was designed a century ago as a hotel. As a result the rooms, public spaces and dining rooms are generously proportioned and elegant. On the walls in the public spaces are life sized portraits (probably reproductions, although pretty good ones) of Spanish grandees from a century ago; they contribute to the overall sense of a bygone era.Complementing this old world style is the most friendly and professional staff one could hope for. From the moment your bags are picked up from the hotel entrance to check-in to being escorted to your room (we were nicely upgraded), the staff goes out of its way to welcome you. I think this must be down to good management and the essential way of Spanish hospitality. Christian, the hotel’s manager, personally went out of his way welcome us. Marriott should promote him.This was perhaps the sixth or seventh time we have visited San Sebastián, having driven down from England, and we would not stay anywhere else.

    As a Platinum Bonvoy member, we were upgraded to a suite. It had a very large living room (very large for American standards) and large bedroom.The bathroom had double sinks, but with the door, only one sink was really usable.Clean, comfortable and well appointed room.The bed was delightful after a long day of touring!Breakfast was amazing: lots of delicious selections.Staff was professional and very accommodating.Location can't be beat!
