  A shabby hotel insists an inconvenient location with questionable staff honesty

  Avoid. A so-called “four star” hotel. What a joke. On the edge of town, in a dodgy housing project. They still charge €18 a night to park in what must be the worst hotel car park in Europe - dark, with pillars everywhere. The hotel insists on a credit card guarantee in case you should take a €2 bottle of water from the room - of course, a 4 star hotel but they don’t provide water. The room, assuming you can get in because of the low quality card that doesn’t operate when it’s not held in *exactly* the right spot, is appallingly designed and poorly maintained. The coat hanger in the entrance way gave way immediately, very poor work. If you want to make tea you have to find the kettle and then move it to another part of the room for power. Of course there’s no milk, nor even a stirring stick for your beverage. Bath robes with tears and rips. A shower that requires luck and perseverance to operate. An onsite restaurant that doesn’t operate on the weekend, because if you happen to arrive on a weekend and want food in this remote location, well, tough luck. Finally, as at least one other person has noted, staff who will call in the local traffic police mafia to fleece tourists of money for having the gall to park in a no exit lane way unused by pedestrians outside the hotel. On the night this happened to me, the hotel staff said they couldn’t help and hadn’t called the extortionists, but right after I saw the same person chatting to the cops.   We stayed at the Hotel Zenit for three nights during our stay in San Sebastián and it was fantastic. The room was clean, the staff were extremely helpful and the drinks at the bar were lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to stay in San Sebastián.   Nice friendly hotel, perfect stay

  Lovely hotel, in residential area but only 15mins to old town etc,, nice clean room, good breakfast but basic, hotel staff are amazing special mention to mikel,, prices at bar very good for a late night drink and chill,,When you find your way around the area, this hotel is perfect..   Hotel is clean and staff were really helpful alerting us to leaving our car door open when we left it in the car park. Breakfast good and as we were only staying for one night we ate in the restaurant at night, food was good and the waitress looked after us very well. The hotel is out of town and the area it is in is quite residential with some building work going on with the railway? So its a good 20 minute walk into the town although there is a bus if you need it. For what it provided it was quite expensive compared to other hotels we stayed in on our hotel, but that might be a San Sebastian thing. Inside bar was nice but the outside area was dirty and not very welcoming, just needs a good tidy up.
