Breathtaking place. I think this was a monastery before a Paradores. Small wee room but perfectly adequate. Lovely big outside pool. Dining room was magnificent and food excellent. We stayed 4 nights on a Paradores exploring holiday. Could have stayed longer but not a great deal else to do other than relax, eat & drink. Suits me! Stunning location and property. The Paradores did a fantastic job creating this hotel. Beautiful vistas. We enjoyed a light meal on the front patio of the bar. We also enjoyed laying by the pool in the late afternoon. The room 225 was a disappointment. The windows are blocked and the patio is enclosed. The room is generously sized with a nice bathroom etc. Being in this historic location without any type of view misses the point. Hotel was booked so we could not be moved or pay to upgrade. Appears almost all rooms have a city or mountain view. Also a small coffee or Nespresso machine would be good to enjoy in the room prior to going to restaurant for breakfast. The hotel is in a lovely location on the hills above Jaen. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My room was lovely too. The only downsides were that my room was near the car park and there was lots of slamming car doors and shouting at 4am. The swimming pool also opens late at 11:30 when half the day is gone. Other than those 2 things I really enjoyed my stay here. It felt nice and relaxed. The views from the hotel are spectacular too. Impressive Parador in spectacular setting

We stayed here for one night on our way back north after staying in the south. It is a truly spectacular setting and husband's satnav found it a challenge to send us up the hill the right way. However once we were there we had free parking (rare these days!) and once we were settled in our room (smaller than others we had stayed in on our trip however well planned and equipped) with a fabulous view over the hills behind. A small terrace for cold drinks and a bar snack lunch. We were a bit tired after our long drive so didn't do much after our late lunch (husband found football on TV), no tea or coffee in room but probably no space for it. We had booked half board so were dining in the restaurant. The public rooms are truly impressive, the history of the place goes back to before the 12th century. Unfortunately a big meat heavy Parador dinner defeated me, we should have stuck to bar food.Usual good Parador breakfast buffet before another long drive. Definitely worth a visit.
