This hotel is quite distinctive in style. That’s putting it kindly. It’s supposed to 450 metres from the ‘centre’. But there isn’t a centre! Not near here anyway. However we did discover a small run of kebab shops, burger bar and gambling pub down the road so maybe that’s it. There was an area with more bars and shops further along in La Manga, but not within walking distance. La Manga itself was a big disappointment. Basically it’s one long dual carriageway down the middle with everything either side built on. So you can’t see the sea on either side without navigating through various car parks and apartment walkways. With miles and miles of of high rise apartments and really poorly designed properties. It’s a bit cruddy and tired and massively over built. What’s on this long piece of not very wide land are block upon block of 60’s and 70’s badly designed tower blocks and cheap looking, dated hotels. That all need pulling downLa Manga golf which is very nice, and has a good reputation isn’t even on the La Manga strip. It’s way before. So I’m not in any way suggesting you come to visit La Manga strip it’s not worth it. There’s hardly any greenery left. How to destroy a unique, natural treasure, just to make money. The hotel I think is pushing it by suggesting it’s 4 star. Putting blue lights all over it at night makes it stand out but doesn’t really upgrade it. There was only one person on reception to check people in and handle any queries. And only one person on the bar… and once he starts doing coffee’s then, well you can imagine. The room we had (702) which was an upgrade to a suite, had 2 bathrooms, with showers, 2 televisions a small 4’6” bed and a massive terrace. On the terrace there was a small table and 2 chairs, nothing else! No sun beds (which it could have easily have accommodated). Sitting out there was like billy no mates! The naff bed, did I mention it was 4’6”, sits between two side, wall suspended units which have obviously been positioned to accommodate a much larger bed. So the units are at least a foot away from the bed on each side. In fairness the shower was excellent, hot and powerful. Although the shower door leaked and the bathroom door wouldn’t close. And the extractor’s on both bathrooms worked off a motion sensor so even if you didn’t want to use them if you went near the entrance they irritatingly came on for 10 minutes. The WiFi was very good in the room and around the pool. There’s a full size fridge with nothing in it. No tea or coffee making facilities. In fact the room is so sparsely furnished it looks like it was not quite ready for occupancy. The hotel has a pool area which actually is quite nice but is overlooked by apartments and another ‘4 star’ hotel. So not very private. And you have to go up some stairs to the first floor, then back down some stairs to the ground floor to access it. (A fair number of steps). A feature of the inside of the hotel is its inner hexagonal open central area so you can look up or down to all floors. It’s a lot of railings. But it’s very different. So in summing up the Mar Menor beach side of La Manga is virtually unused, certainly anywhere near this hotel it was not really a beach, just hard ground. The Mediterranean side has a beach that looks ok - our section had no sun beds and only a few bars. I can’t recommend the hotel or the area, having been here for one night I can’t see me ever coming back to La Manga or the hotel! One final thing is that I would say 95% of the clientele were Spanish. So maybe the hotel works for them, but not for me.

Gooð location for both laguna and sea
13 Sept 2024
Very good hotel, receptionist was very polite and helpful, arrived early and the room was all ready. Small but comfortable bed room, good shower. We booked through ofertravel very good value for full board . Drinks with lunch and evening meal included. Good choice of food for all meals. Small but adequate swimming pool, especially when we went in September . Perfect location for both the Mar Menor and the sea. Both the laguna and the sea clean enough to swim in. Would come again.

Poor conditions!!

Not a great hotel and poor room conditions as there were leaks and they didn’t do up the rooms well. Breakfast was decent and the bar attendant was friendly. Apart from those 2, the rest of the experience nothing to write home about. All in all, not a place I would visit again.

We arrived slightly earlier than check in and the kind reception let us go to our room. Very spacious and clean. We booked all inclusive so was able to have lunch. Hotel is situated 2 minutes from beautiful warm water amazing beach. There is a Spar shop to buy snacks. Bus service decent but ask for a bus map from reception. Few staff spoke English but gave me a chance to use my Spanish. The pool is small with adequate seating, you can get towels from reception. Back to the pool bit disappointing as no atmosphere, no daytime entertainment very quiet background music in bar. Entertainment in evening suited more for mature age group.

Average Hotel

Came here to stay as part of a wedding party.Where to begin? Overall the hotel is nice. It’s clean, tidy & spacious. The staff were welcoming and all spoke English. The pool was clean tidy and the facilities were top notch. The rooms were in my opinion so so. I was sharing a twin room with a family member. When we got to the room it was clean, tidy and ok. Maybe my expectations were a tad high however for a 4 star hotel i was expecting basic bits to be done right. There was only 1 small bottle of water in the room baring in mind there were 2 people staying there. There was no kettle or teas / coffees bits in the room and the bathroom all be it appeared clean and tidy had a fair bit of hair quite possibly from the previous guests in the shower. The shower also appeared to let out water whilst using it which in turn meant having the mop up the floor. The thing which also surprised me was when I asked for an iron / ironing bits was advised by reception that they don’t have one for guests. The breakfast in the morning was good. There’s a range of continental bits and the usual egg, bacon, beans and cereals. It’s plentiful and kept topped up. Overall would I stay here again. Maybe. I didn’t raise the issue with the bathroom as I didn’t have the time due to being with the wedding party.
