    Adequate

Quite a nice Apartment, we've definitely had worse, & a little bit more TLC & this could be pushing 5*Nicely laid out, though the bedroom is to tight for 2 single beds, a double would be better, & Wardrobe doors need sorting as 1 of them is jammed solid.Shower room was very good, but water pressure in the mornings made having a shower, Challenging!Kitchen was adequate, well enough equipped, though a plug for the sink would make washing up easier. Lounge area & sofa are comfortable.Patio area ok.Pool area kept clean & tidy.We had a good 8 nights here, but won't be returning.

Easy checkin, receptionist was helpful and pleasant gave us tourist information about the island and showed us to our 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was on the bottom floor it was basic& clean. The booking included breakfast however breakfast takes places in another hotel called (la calets apartmentos) literally across the road from Rosales. Breakfast was plentiful but a limited choice of hot foods for vegetarians. The breakfast room could sometimes get busy and often there would be a queue to the coffee machine. It was quite silly that they did not have a second machine or tap that provided hot water as this would have reduced queuing times. We ate dinner once at (La calets) for €10 each the food was disappointing - not much for vegetarian eaters and food was warm, not hot Overall though the restaurant was clean, staff were friendly and the breakfast presented well. Los Rosales is very close to restaurants, convenient shops, bus stop! bus 500 takes you to Santa Cruz city and airport which is only 2 miles away from los Rosales . Just to be aware that planes fly over ( near) the hotel but this is not constantly as la Palma airport is not a busy airport. I personally did not mind being under the flight path. I would recommend los Rosales apartments.

Basic, clean apartments, great pool, very helpful staff.

Apartments are basic, but very clean and with pretty much everything you need. Any issues sorted straight away. We had a window that wouldn't close and a slight leak in the sink, both of which were fixed within an hour. Noise does carry through the apartments; furniture being moved around, doors closing etc etcThe pool area is lovely. Lots of space and a nice pool, cleaned every morning. It was chilly (we went in January), but fine for brave kids! Staff at reception are incredibly friendly and helpful, organising any tours, car hire or just giving general information. In summary; don't expect any thrills, just a clean, simple, good value apartment from which to explore the island.

    Comfortable flat, enjoyable stay

    rating07 Apr 2018

We spent a week here for a family holiday. The apartments are a mix of holiday lets and permanent residents arranged around a central pool and garden, which is maintained to a high standard. The apartment we had was clean and decent enough for self-catering, with small kitchenette (plenty of cutlery and crockery), large lounge area with balcony, and two bedrooms (one single, one double). Not luxurious but perfectly comfortable. The local area is a modern development but low-rise and low-key - no lively strip of bars, clubs, etc., just small restaurants, supermarkets, shops and flats. There's a lovely walk along the sea front boardwalk to the safe black sandy beach, takes about 10 minutes. As others have noted it's very close to the airport, so some noise - but there are only about 20 flights a day so it's not very busy. We had a car which was useful for exploring, but there are half-hourly buses to the capital Santa Cruz. We loved the island and the different things to see and do - it's less busy and developed than the other Canary Islands. We would recommend it and Los Rosales.

Laid back, no luxuries, reasonably priced

    rating12 Feb 2018

Our brief was to find somewhere in late Oct/early Nov where we could get some sun, self-cater but be near to restaurants and beaches. If our apartments could be close together so much the better. Party comprised 3 generations, numbering 7.So Los Rosales, Playa de Los Cancajos on La Palma seemed to fit the bill. At that time of year the EasyJet flights were cheap. An advance party of 4 went a week before us to maximise the school holidays and we flew out the following week. We were able to get adjacent units on the ground floor, well away from major roads so theoretically very quiet. However this complex is very near the airport – almost walkable - and planes taking off pass very nearly overhead. However this turned out not to be much of an issue as most flights were quiet small turbo prop inter-island planes. Big jets were few and far between – for instance I believe EasyJet only have 2 or 3 flights a week at that time of year and there were only a couple of other international flights per day, so it wasn’t a problem at all, in fact it was quite interesting to watch the planes. This island couldn’t be more different to its neighbour Tenerife as it’s so quiet and laid back – we had to wait at least half an hour for a taxi for the short ride to Los Rosales as there only seemed to be a couple of cabs operating – and this was a Saturday! It might be advisable to pre-book your transfer if you have a fair way to go on the island. There is also a bus (route 500) we could have used – but didn’t know this at the time. Our adjacent apartments were perfectly acceptable for a week with all the usual features included but the kitchen wasn’t quite as well equipped if the full Cordon Bleu is required but we coped well and the free Wi-Fi was excellent. Use of the room safe was chargeable. The tv worked but there wasn’t a single English language channel provided – not even Sky News. We were on the ground floor so no balcony but with a nice little walled terrace for eating, drinking and chilling. The garden area in front of the blocks is pleasantly laid out and there is a good sized pool in the middle which was very popular with the youngsters. Hard to escape the noise associated with this but you can trek to the beach if you insist on peace and quiet. There are also a few sun-loungers about the place but I have to say these were about the most uncomfortable loungers ever experienced – very hard and impossible to get comfy on them as no mattresses were available. The main road through the town has a few restaurants with indoor and pavement seating which we always used even at that time of year. El Rincon was our usual dining place with a decent menu and reasonable pricing. Our other favourite was the Restaurant El Pupo on the nearest proper beach. My favourite side dish was Canarian Potatoes with the fiery but delicious red Mojo sauce. There are a couple of supermarkets very nearby which was helpful. There is a Tourist Information office above the beach which is about 10/15 min stroll. You can walk to the beach along the main road but more attractive is the walkway winding around the top of the rocky inlets with a great view of the island’s capital, Santa Cruz in the near distance. You can walk to Santa Cruz if you want. It is a hilly trek and you will pass by an unattractive industrial area. The alternative is the cheap bus or a more expensive taxi. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, decent shops and interesting architectural styles, so well worth spending some time there. If you want to do whale or dolphin watching you will need to book a tour to the west coast of the island as there are none on the east side. There is a company operating opposite the Tourist place and they will bus you across the island to join their whale watching boat. We were lucky with the weather and it was a very enjoyable day out.Apparently it is often cloudier on the east side of the island and we did get heavy rain on one day. Depending on the timing of your homeward flight, you might be able to extend your check out time for a few hours – the Reception team were very helpful – but do be sure to book your taxi early. There are so few in the area we had to wait half an hour for ours as he was shuttling back and forth. If you haven’t got a lot of luggage take the bus but for bigger family groups a taxi makes sense but it might be tense waiting for it!In summary, La Palma offers a nice winter break with much better weather than you would get in the UK, better eating out than the bigger touristy islands, not exclusively aimed at the British market (mainly Dutch, German visitors) and pleasantly laid back. Los Rosales is a reasonably priced place to stay but with no frills or luxuries. If you need constant entertainment and a huge choice of bars, restaurants and night clubs – go to Tenerife. However, we would love to return.
