    Wonderful stay

    rating11 Dec 2017

We agree with all good reviews we have read. Loved the flowers in the room and the free bananas. We made use of the pool during the day and the rooftop terrace for stargazing. Thanks to all for hospitality and Manual for lift to Santa Cruz. Did not want to leave . Will Return.

Really nice apartment. Clean and cosy. View of teide across the sea. The owners are very freindly and helpful. Would definitely recommend. There's a washing machine in the garden. The views from the roof are stunning.

    Great apartment’s and excellent value

    rating23 Nov 2016

We really enjoyed our stay at Mayoysa apartment’s. They are family owned in a small block of four. The ground floor level has the garage, it’s a bit tight but perfectly manageable. The owners and staff are all very helpful but don’t have a great deal of English, on the other hand it was more than our Spanish but we somehow manged to get by.The 1st floor has the apartment’s themselves, the 2nd floor is the roof terrace where you can sit with a cold beer or glass of excellent local wine and watch the stars at night or the planes by day.Yes it overlooks the small airport but aircraft noise is never an issue. Also on the roof is a large conservatory where you can enjoy the views if it’s a windy day.The conservatory also had some fitness equipment but it didn’t look very serviceable. There is also a large tub for bathing in and this did not look very appealing either. Our apartment had a decent sized kitchen dining and living area which led on to a closed terrace which ran the full length of our apartment. Two have a sea view, ours was one of the ones that didn’t but if you want the view you can always go up to the roof. The bed room had plenty of fitted storage and had two singles. The bath room had a very large shower cubicle and there was always ample hot water and a decent pressure. It also a bidet which was just as well because you are not meant to put toilet paper down the loo.The kitchen was well equipped but as other have mentioned there is only a two-ring hob but for us if we need more than two rings on holiday we are not on holiday at all. There is a toaster, electric kettle and a combi microwave oven with grill. The TV didn’t have any English channels but we found the WIFI to be very good.If you want to eat out there are two restaurants within walking distance: by that I mean less than a mile each way. Leave the apartment and head for the bottom road if you turn right, you will be heading for Casa Pancho be warned the hill at the end is brutal on foot.If you turn left you will be heading for La Mocanera. Both routes have street lights. Check them out in your car in advance.Finding the apartment’s, the first time can be a bit tricky. There is a good set of directions in an earlier review but they involve a tight left turn not long after leaving the airport which we sailed right by. So, carry on the main road and pass the 1st turn for the resort of Los Cancajos, take the next turn go up the ramp and turn left over the fly over. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit for the LP2 after a mile or so you will come to Junction with a set of lights. You want to go straight on but this junction is well worth paying attention to as you will probably be seeing it a lot. On the right is the restaurant La Mocanera and a Spar supermarket. On the left is the lower road towards the apartment’s but you can’t reach them fully by car that way. Carry on through the junction for around a kilometre. As you leave the built-up area you will see some Armco barriers on the left and some hairpin bends. Slow down and Indicate left now as your entrance is in the middle of the 1st bend and it’s easy to go past. On entry carry on down the steep slope until you see a concreate strip to your right, this is the drive way to the apartment’s.We had generally good weather with temperatures around 23C. We did have a day of really heavy rain with thunder but it was November. Although it was warm there were also what we would call a few claggy days. On the two days, we had this we drove through the tunnel to the West and it was amazing: claggy weather on the East side but bright sunshine on the West.We enjoyed our 1st visit to La Palma we have been to the other four main tourist islands: some several times but we both agreed that we liked La Palma the best. It’s very underdeveloped, there are lots of things to do and its generally inexpensive. There is some very, very good local wine and great food on offer. The people are friendly and it’s a great place to improve your Spanish.Going back to the apartment’s I would thoroughly recommend them. They are not five star by any means but the whole experience is. If you are looking for bright lights and the resort experience then these apartments are not for you, come to think of it neither is La Palma. If you are looking for a great place to chill out with good food nearby and a good base for seeing La Palma then book today because you won’t go wrong.

Great Place - Once You Find It

    rating17 Oct 2016

Lovely apartments, once you manage find them, which was tricky, even with a Sat Nav.The apartments are set back from the road, which also happens to be a one way street. To reach the apartments take the main road to Santa Cruz.(LP-5)Leave at junction 2B s/p Los Llanos. Carry on to the roundabout and take the second exit LP-2 s/p Los Canarios. Pass through the traffic lights and continue along the LP-2 until you reach the 5km marker, you will now be at the start of a series of S bends. Take the second left into Calle Cuesta de San José - it's almost a blind turn so easy to miss. The road is a very steep downhill descent. You will see a road to your left and after that the road bends sharp left - before you reach the bend you will see a concrete driveway on your right and this leads to the apartments. As stated there is garage parking but be warned it is quite tight. The apartments are a good size and well appointed. The roof area is good for relaxing. the pool is a bit Heath Robertson but adequate for cooling down,The owner is friendly and welcoming although her English is not that good, having said that my Spanish is very poor, so I'm not really in a position to complain. There is free wi-fi which is a reasonable speed. The TV has only Spanish channels but who goes on holiday to watch TV?So why only four stars - well it's down to a couple of niggles.Firstly the issues in finding the place. Secondly there is a kitchen which has a twin hob and microwave, but no conventional oven plus a small range of cooling utensils. The plumbing is typically Spanish, you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet, the hot water wasn't that hot - one day it was cold by the second shower and the boiler makes some very odd sounds, usually in the middle of the night. Finally we had to share the bathroom with a colony of ants.

    Great quality/price ratio

    rating26 Jul 2016

The owners are very friendly and the rooms spacious, well decorated and clean. The pool in the rooftop is big enough should you want to relax there. It's about 10 mins car ride from SC de la Palma to the apartment so, while it's in a quiet area it's not lost in the middle of nowhere.10/10 would recommend.
