Los Llanos is conveniently located to explore the best La Palma has to offer, certainly moreso than the more glamorous Santa Cruz de la Palma on the east coast, and Hotel Valle Aridane is the ideal base for such excursions, especially to the extraordinary Caldera de Taburiente. The views from the fourth-floor solarium, the sixth-floor breakfast room, or a bedroom at the front of the building have stunning views of the outer walls of the Caldera.Visitors to La Palma don't come looking for the beach culture available on the better-known (and, let's face it, more accessible) Canary Islands such as Lanzarote. Accordingly, Hotel Valle Aridane doesn't try to be or do more than its three-star rating but instead focuses on doing the necessary well. The hotel is clean and well appointed, the breakfast is simple but plentiful, and the shower is hot enough and strong enough to take your skin off - perfect after a long day hiking or cycling.Hotel Valle Aridane is well placed for getting around Los Llanos as well. Simply cross Avenida Carlos Francisco Lorenzo Navarro, head uphill, and turn down the wonderfully named Avenida Doctor Fleming. This will bring your to Plaz de Espana, a central hub of shops and restaurants.Like all Palmerans, hotel manager David and his staff were happy to go out of their way to help, no matter what the request. The housekeeping staff noticed that I'd used a spare blanket the first night and made up my bed thereafter with the extra blanket, which I thought was a nice touch.

Walking holiday walking hotel

Functional hotel for a walking holiday. Staff friendly. Breakfast a bit of a bun fight but good croissants.However in late Nov rooms cold. Coming in from walking wet and no heating vv difficult to dry stuff and get warm.No kettle. Brought own teabags and able to boil kettle in breakfast area first few nights, but then the hotel locked it to prevent it....so no hot drinks except from a drinks machine in plastic cups if you have the right change.Take a travel kettle and plug in heater at this time of year....

A weeks guided walking based at this lovely 3 star hotel. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Nice clean rooms. A great base for a great holiday. If you ask they will put together a substantial packed lunch if you order the night before.

It's well situated, the staff are friendly and it's clean. But the parking is terrible, the breakfast room is on the 6th floor and the noise from the chairs scraping on concrete floors reaches at least the 4th floor. The shower can easily turn the bathroom floor into a slip hazard and we had to unplug the telephone to get a good night's sleep. Management had to be asked for extra blankets and there are lifts both ends of the building that don't properly overlap. And our room rate was 70% higher than the Gatwick Marriott.

Lovely hotel near the centre of town, very friendly staff on reception and the breakfast room, you can have breakfast Al fresco on the rooftop patio or go onto the rooftop solarium later in the day. Parking can be a problem.
