Location

These apartments are located in the centre of Puerto del Carmen, just across the road from a small sandy bay and only 800 m from the main beach of Puerto del Carmen. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants just outside the apartments and the vicinity also features nightlife spots, shops and public transport links. The complex is only a 15-minute drive from the capital, Arrecife, and a 20-minute drive from Timanfaya National Park. Arrecife Airport is 10 km from the apartments.

Facility

Units include 90 apartments located in a 3-storey main building and a 2-storey auxiliary building. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The complex has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The complex has wheelchair-accessible facilities and a lift. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the complex feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park (no extra charge). Further services and facilities include a car hire service, medical assistance, an alarm call service and a laundry service. Cyclists can make use of the bicycle storage area and hire service. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. Separate bedrooms are available. Valuables can be securely stored in a safe. The kitchenette comes with a mini fridge, a microwave and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. A hairdryer and a telephone are available for daily use. Wheelchair-accessible rooms can also be booked. The complex has family rooms and 90 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

While the adults swim a few laps in the outdoor pool, children can enjoy splashing about in their own swimming area. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. A variety of activities such as cycling/mountain biking, bocce, crazy golf and golf or, for a fee, tennis, are offered at the apartment complex. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy windsurfing and banana boat rides. A gym and darts or, for a fee, billiards, are among the sport and leisure options available. A spa and solarium are available in the wellness area. Entertainment options and leisure facilities include an entertainment programme and a dance club.

Meals

Dining facilities include a café and a bar. The non-smoking restaurant provides high chairs for children. All-inclusive is offered as a catering option. Breakfast gives guests plenty of delicious reasons to get out of bed in the morning. and dinner offer a wide range of dishes. The complex also offers snacks.

    Been coming to these apartments for years now with family and friends. The layout is fantastic and the recent renovations to the bar area and reception are fantastic. Location is perfect and great for anyone with mobility issues.     Two star apartments at four star prices

    I don't ordinarily post harsh reviews as it often easy to be over-critical.So, I'll start with the positives - lovely friendly staff and nice refurbished bar area. Beds are comfy and the fridge works fine. The kitchen is also well equipped apart from the toaster that was dangerous. The location is also superb and is what makes this a place to go to.We stayed in a one bed seaview apartment that cost just under €150.00 per night. It's not cheap but we did get a seaview.We're not picky customers (see my other reviews) but if I am paying four star prices, I expect at least a three star service. Therefore, I don't expect a dangerous toaster with a burnt chord (see photo). I don't expect electrical sockets to hang from the socket and I expect a shower that delivers more than five minutes of hot water. The bathroom looks like it hasn't been decorated since the 1990s with a mixer shower and shower curtain. It's also quite slippy so take care!In the living area, the small tv is on the other side of the room from the settee/extra bed. A tv is important as not everyone wants to venture out at night.In short, La Penita is a good place to stay but their prices don't reflect their facilities (apart from location). Management will point to the bar refurb which is nice but which really only puts them on a par with other apartments. There is no aircon, access uses physical keys (apart from rooms) which are all ok but are two star facilities.If you compare it to somewhere like the Gloria Izaro (which is €50.00 less per night and includes breakfast) it doesn't come close except for location.Finally, if you leave early before reception opens (like we did), you have a situation where you are asked to leave your key in a box. But then can't get out to the street as you have no key to open the gate! It's really simple things like that.We'll go back to that area of PDC but not to La Penita unless it really improves the service offering. Or reduces prices substantially to reflect its facilites (and that isn't happening!).     Excellent location, fantastic staff, spotless resort

    6 of us recently visited for 1 week. It was to celebrate my Mam's 75th birthday. From the moment we contacted to staff they went above and beyond to ensure Mam was accommodated in a room that suited her needs and enjoyed her stay. The complex is fantastic. The food and drink at the pool bar is very reasonably priced and delicious. The location is perfect. The beach is only a couple of minutes walk away and it is right beside all the bars and restraunts you could possibly want. This was our 3rd time to stay and mam's first but we are already planning our next trip. Can not recommend enough!     Enjoyed our second stay at la penita staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble lovely and clean has always , just a pity weather wasn't good but didn't spoil our holiday ,not too sure if I like the way different rooms are been priced now we had room 133 last time was 135 so just 2 doors down I like a high floor has can not sleep on ground floor apartment but this means have to pay extra for that which was never the case , would it put me off staying again ( don't think so unless find accommodation near by where I don't have to pay for high floor ) has I love la penita apartments but would have to way up cost difference really Pedro Coll, Dueño at La Penita Apartments, responded to this review Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us again and for sharing such a kind review.     Bit of a let down this visit. I made this booking 11 months prior to our visit. Booked 2 apartments under category Pool or Solarium view and completed the request box at end of booking form for a ground floor apartment with walk-in shower due to disability/mobility issues. Full explanation of issues was given, including my fall on La Penita steps in May 2025 causing hospital stay for broken rib. However, when the categories were reorganised after my booking, whereby ground floor apartments could be specifically booked at an extra cost, apparently nobody from admin checked the special requests from clients on bookings prior to change over to new system. Two weeks before our arrival I emailed La Penita with our time of arrival and reminder of my request for ground floor with walk-in shower. (This procedure I have done for many visits). Reservations then informed me that both apartments booked had been allocated to middle floor which have an over the bath shower and that if I wanted ground floor I should have specifically booked that category even though it wasn’t available at the time of booking and that they were now booked up for our visit in January! I responded that my future 3 bookings had all been made specifically for ground floor but that this wasn’t available at time of booking and if I had been informed of change I would have willingly paid the extra charge. On the plus side from reception they did honour my request for assistance with luggage and sunbed on terraces. Very disappointed as middle floor apartments smaller than ground floor and quite dangerous for anyone with mobility issues to climb into the bath to use shower. Very slippy as no non-slip surface! We all love La Penita but have seen several comments on social media regarding the big rise in cost of accommodation. I paid 1338.24 euros in October 2024 and this year the cost will be 2153.73 euros, circa 55% increase. Whilst the new bar and reception areas plus the future solarium renovation and new supermarket are fantastic, the apartments themselves are very dated. Prices are now coming into 4 star price but unfortunately the apartments are still 2 star. It is with regret that I have had to be so negative on this review. The situation of La Penita is ideal and overall the staff have been fantastic - I would usually give a positive report and recommend. Myself, friends and family all love returning here several times a year, although for one visit per year we now go to Fayna with family as La Penita do not have any 2 bedroom apartments to cater for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. We are all looking forward to our visit in April and being accommodated ground floor with walk-in shower (NO BATH).
