  First but not last visit to RIU Paraiso

  Hotel is a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport. We arrived just after 11 am and we’re delighted that our room was ready and that we had been allocated a beautiful room (3387) with double balconies - one looking across the road to the beach and the other across the Flamboyan pool. The hotel is very wide and essentially split into 2 sides joined by a long walkway or via interconnecting footpaths at ground level. Once you’ve got your bearings it’s very easy. The hotel is very clean and the staff all very helpful with special shoutouts to Ana and Daniel at the Flamboyan Pool Bar (this is the quieter pool),Maitre’d Antonio and Martin and Silke on Reception. Food is buffet with the Asian and Canarian speciality restaurants offering some different choices. Plenty of choice and for those who like food very hot, microwaves are available.The hotel is about a 30 minute stroll to Puerto Del Carmen and 20 mins to Matagorda in the opposite direction. Loads of bars,restaurants and shops within easy reach with a bus stop outside the hotel. All of the facilities both private and public were very clean.We were lucky enough to be able to watch the running part of the Ironman Event on 23rd May from the hotel grounds. So much fitness, commitment and endurance on display.We had a lovely 11 nights and will be returning. I’d also advise joining the RIU class programme as loyalty to the brand is recognised.

  Absolutely fantastic holiday at this hotel, We visited sometime ago and on our return were knocked out by the standard of refurbishing carried out really great standard everywhere from bars to restaurants and pool areas so good. The staff were amazing and I would like to give a mention to a few who stood out Aranxta Ana Angel Gabriel lovely people providing the best service and hospitality wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this great hotel

  Hotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote was a Complete Let-Down

  Our stay at Hotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote was a complete let-down for my wife and me.This hotel is essentially two separate hotels merged into one enormous complex, and the logistics are very poorly thought out. If you are allocated a room on the far side of the resort while all the amenities are located on the opposite side, be prepared for long walks every single time you want to visit reception, the dining hall, the entertainment area, or the sports facilities. There was absolutely no mention on the TUI website or in their brochure about the excessive walking required to access the hotel’s main amenities.We genuinely felt as though we had been placed in an abandoned section of the hotel, with very little atmosphere and even fewer facilities nearby. The two halves of the complex are connected by a long, creaky overhead corridor that seemed never-ending.Unfortunately, things became even worse when both my wife and I experienced separate health scares within the first couple of days of our stay. The response from hotel staff could not have been more disappointing. The reception staff were dismissive and showed very little concern or understanding regarding our medical and mobility issues.From poor customer service and inadequate handling of health concerns to unacceptable room-maintenance standards and misleading advertising about the balcony view we paid extra for, this was the worst holiday experience we have ever had.Although the TUI representatives expressed some concern, there was little meaningful intervention when we explained that the alternative accommodation offered to us was unsuitable.I have uploaded photos showing some of the issues we encountered, including:• A blocked shower and a broken shower rail • A concrete retaining wall completely obstructing the “view” we paid extra for • Only a single electrical socket in the room, forcing us to use multiple extension leads just to charge and use basic electronics.The food was also something to be desired. It was tasteless, poor quality, poorly cooked and highly repetitive. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience, and unfortunately, we would not return to this hotel or recommend it.   Lovely stay all in all. However as a young mid to late 50s couple we found the hotel to have quite an old clientele preferring a quiet stay, possibly early in the year. The bar needing a bit of music background or live as the downstairs entertainment was in the eating area and felt a bit like a function than a night out. Possibly that time of the season.However the staff were great, nearly all so friendly and so very hardworking, room was clean and modern but could be bigger. Nice bathroom. The food was excellent, everything we ate was good, fresh and a big selection. Best quality I've had eating in hotels on holidays. Drinks good although self serve soft drinks were a little flat and needed ice. Location good close to beach, taxi would be needed to strip and old town but reception will call for you and there within minutes. Don't recommend hotel included transfer as was 40 minutes before leaving airport and then obviously drop offs. For the sake of around 15 each way get a taxi.Overall, lovely stay. Hope to be back!

  Great Hotel excellent service friendly staff ,nice pools .Hotel is very clean good choice of food and drinks, this was our 4th visit and we and looking to book for next May.
