Stay Well Away From “This Place”

    rating03 Apr 2019

To say that Pension Cardona is a disgrace would be a compliment. I have stayed in hotels and Hostal’s all over the World and this is without a doubt the worse place I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. The place is filthy, there are no cleaning services, it’s advertised Wi-Fi which doesn’t work. The “Kitchen” consists of a kettle and microwave that doesn’t work and cockroaches. Our room stank of smoke even though it’s a “non smoking hotel” The staff are unbelievably rude, some claim they don’t speak English however these same staff had no problem speaking fluent English to American Guests....... Strange!Trust me if you are going to stay in Arrecife, Lanzarote then this is Place you do not want to go near........ ever!

    Pleasant - ok for 1 - 2 nights

    rating08 Aug 2017

Quite difficult to find without a proper map. No wifi in the room, but available in Reception areas only. Staff not over friendly , but okGood location, cheap, no breakfasts provided, located in the middle of block 3 - 4 minutes from beach. Its ok if you are on a budget, and need to spend only 1- 2 niights. The electrical fittings are of a poor standardA large room, with own bathroom and good shower, very basic furnishings.

No breakfast and wifi only works in reception. Soap the size of a stick of chewing gum...went and bought my own. Handy for the beach and bus station. It is in a quiet back street but seems to be on the way to/from/between several other late night venues and there was a LOT of noise every night from around 3 to 5am by people gathering by the hotel and shouting a lot...Yes it was cheap and it would do for a couple of nights but I would probably find somewhere else to stay another time if staying for a week.

    Perfect for Groups

    rating30 May 2017

Very cheap price for a group of 6 - around €30 per night. Hotel is basic but very clean and great location to the beach. 24 hour reception and no hassles at all checking in or requesting any extras. Would definitely recommend for a group who are just looking for somewhere to rest their head.

    Never ever again

I booked this place for one week, for 20€ the day. Single room, I put in quiet as a special request, and thought how bad can it be? Very bad. I returned today and am just so happy I have escaped this Hotel Gomorrha. I was lucky enough that the neighbouring nightclubs all had either holidays or went broke: at least the noise from the road was bearable. However, I was right beside the elderly lift which made very strange metallic noises, day and night. The room was dirty, especially the windows, the drain for shower and washbasin totally blocked, and everything had burn marks. An ancient bed (1960s ?) Had a newish mattress at least and some wooden headboard which was not connected to the bed and moved independently: don't lean against it. The wardrobe was ancient, painted plywood; table and night stand full with cigarette marks and the TV had only Spanish satellite. The so-called Street parking was a joke: the hotel is in a one-way Lane and not once was there a free space for my rented car. The next car park costs 20€ for one night and the only other option was to leave it a few streets away in some waste ground amongst drug addicts. Very scary to walk back from there after dark. If this was full too your only chance was either to fork out the 20€ or to circle the one-way system until somebody left and you got lucky: after 1.5 hours in one case. The receptionists didn't speak any English (or German) except of one guy. The wifi works only in reception and is hit and miss: sometimes it was just off for an hour. The so-called library are circa 8 old paperbacks customers left behind. My room was so depressing that it gave me nightmares. Facit: if you need a cheap place to crash for one night close to the airport it might be ok but don't believe anything what they say about their "facilities". Good things: it's very central and when I asked for it my room was cleaned quite well. One of the receptionists was nice and helpful (one of the others was diabolical; Fawlty Towers style rude and proud about it that he/she didn't speak a word of any other language) and the supermarket a few steps away was very good and reasonable. In summary: Anders Bering Breivig would complain at the UN about inhumane treatment if you would give him my room there as a prison cell.
