    Fantastic quirky place

    rating15 Sept 2024

We had a superior room which had amazing views of the wall and sunset. Large comfy bed, airy room, good bathroom. Safe parking although prebook this as spaces limited, the place is filled with antiquities and knickknacks , pots outside filled with acre trees give a great garden feel in a enclosed space. Only downside was no kettle in room, but friendly owner happily filled my thermos for me to take to room.

Quirky, not perfect but absolutely superb.

We had two stays here in July, both for a number of days and all I can say is that we really loved it. It is situated within and close to the Roman wall. It is within easy walking distance of numerous bars and restaurants and some of the key tourist attractions e.g the cathedral and the Museo a Domus do Mitreo, both of which are well worth visiting. The hotel is also close to steps leading upto the top of the wall so, if you are up for it, you can enjoy the 3km walk around it.We had what we felt must be, the best room in the hotel with 2 balconies overlooking the wall, the modern city beyond and the countryside. The room basically had everything we needed apart from perhaps a second chair and a perhaps a box of tissues. The bed was comfortable and they kindly provided a kettle so we tea mad English could have a cup when ever we wanted one.As said it is a bit quirky with artifacts absolutely everywhere and some of them we felt would be worth quite a bit. There are even full sixed 'mannequins' in the outdoor seating area which is a great place to sit and have a drink and people watch! Breakfast is available every morning and dinner is from Wednesday to Sunday evenings. The breakfast is fine but there could be a little more variation while the evening dining experience which we did a few times was excellent. What was amazing was the staff. We could not praise them enough. Everyone did everything to make sure our stay was enjoyed. So, BIG THANKS to Maria and Manuel, their 'grown up' children, Maria, Manuel and Nikolas and not forgetting the cook Alejandro. We are likely to be in Lugo again sometime next year and there is only one place we will stay - HERE!

    Delightful Camino stop

    rating24 Sept 2022

The room was large and the bathroom spectacular. The bed mattresses were like sleeping on a cloud and the bed linens were of high quality as were the towels and toiletries. The hotel common area were a collectors dream in a very tasteful way although some might find the mannequins creepy. The breakfast buffet had the best selection of quality cheese at least ten or more and many different meats definitely the best breakfast in our three weeks in Spain.Best of all Maria at reception was the friendliest host of all our hotels and the gardener showed how much he loves plants with his tender care of the many trees and plants decorating the entrants and ally. The owners are very lucky to have these two people on staff.Loved this hotel and if you want a day of rest from the Camino book two nights here and enjoy Lugo.

    A unique treasure trove

This is a lovely hotel, whose quirkiness is just the right side of kitsch. We had terrible trouble finding it, but it was certainly worth persevering. Thankfully we had reserved a parking space, because cars aren't allowed in the walled city otherwise. Lugo is a wonderful city, with complete Roman city walls. One can walk everywhere, and this hotel is the perfect base. We will return to Lugo, and to this hotel.

Enjoy your stay in a historic building in the center of the city (inside the wall).

    rating16 Apr 2022

This hotel is a historic building recently restored. Comfortable with modern and spacious bathrooms, elevator to all room (except for the exceptional attic on the third floor). Located in the center of the city, but accesible by car and including a parking lot, you can walk through pedestrian-only streets to visit the city: cathedral, mitreo, casa de los mosaicos, plaza de España, San Pedro, etc. You can wake up in the morning and run on the +2000 year old Roman Wall, then take a shower with views of the cathedral, and the enjoy a breakfast with local cheese and cakes. You can go in 5 minutes to the area called “Calle de los Vinos” and enjoy drinks and free tapas walking from bar to bar. You can walk to the best restaurants in the center of Lugo, and not worry about driving back to the hotel. The hotel is a combination of modern utilities with a decoration including a selection of antiques that make you feel like living in a museum.
