Went with a group of 28 people. The last night of our stay we were treated very badly sent to a hall for our dinner .The tables were crawling with ants .. the food absolutely revolting … the barbecue food was just fat and bones need a saw to cut through .. the was offered an alternative … a half cooked salty omelette and half cooked chunky sliced potatoes .. instead of chips no cooked vegetables… absolutely horrendous.. The only positive was our waitress Helena … she is an absolute gem .. 💎

Better than Average in Lugo
04 Jun 2025
Positives: Quiet, OK sleep quality and bed, excellent housekeeping, walkable to supermarket and wall/old town. Room is generous with a separate toilet with convenient auto light. I had a room on floor 5 with country views. My son lives locally and I am very familiar with Lugo hotels as I have stayed in 7 of them…this rates in the top 3 of my stays and better than average in Lugo Fairly new and everything spic and span and in good order/well maintained. .Negatives: kettle but no cups or coffee amenity. No room guide either physical or QR that I saw for info. No minibar price list. When the hotel was full, alot of lateral noise and noise in hallway. Earplugs fixed that.No other hotel amenities like gym. No iron or board in the room. Breakfast was basic and disappointing. The mirror and basin in room might be useful for couples but less privacy if travelling as 2 singles. Found using room temperature control klunky and could not seem to get it right. Drop off and pick up parking is non existent and required double parking. ( the other hotel nearby has a drive through drop off and pick up and is way more practical if driving solo to do check in) A minor annoyance that the bedside lamp and pendant were not practical.

Perfect hotel nearby the city center

We received a very warm welcome by the kind staff of the hotel. It felt like coming home. The room assigned was very comfortable with a view across the city.Great cafe on the ground floor and restaurant. Terrace with lots of shade for warmer days.

Having used Mecure before a number of times we were happy to check this one out on a two night trip to Lugo while travelling around the Iberian peninsula. The hotel feels so new but it was great to drive into the spacious and cool underground car park. We had a standard room on the 5th floor with terrific views out over the river to the the surrounding countryside. The hotel is a about a 10 minute walk from the nearest gate to the walled city and so getting to see the city centre attractions is really easy. We also were able to walk easily down to the roman bridge over the river that was the main santiago road and is still the pilgrim way today. Going down easy - walking back up good exercise. Rooms are nicely laid out though the wash hand basin is in the bedroom but the big bonus is the comfort and size of the beds which meant two excellent nights sleep. On both nights we opted for bar food as it suited our timings and it was very tasty and straightforward. Locals seem to use the bar area for coffee, catch ups and drinks as well as guests so it was busy enough but manageable. Staff were extremely helpful though try to use any spanish you have. The other good thing was breakfast which was standard in most ways but had a really nice selection of breads as well as sweet cakes. Wifi is strong as is usual in Mercure and TV very high tech Good quality accomodation, Good value, clean, well appointed and completely up to scratch.
