condition of this hotel is catastrophic

    rating24 May 2026

Over the last month, I have stayed at this property on two separate occasions, and regrettably, I must state that the condition of this hotel is catastrophic and far below the standards I have come to expect from Marriott and the AC Hotels brand. I am a Marriott Gold member familiar with AC brand all over the world. From the moment of arrival, the deterioration of the property is evident. The driveway and entrance area were filled with trash and hundreds of cigarette butts, creating a highly neglected and unpleasant first impression. The exterior façade appears severely worn, aged, and poorly maintained, with visibly deteriorated walls and old paint.Unfortunately, the situation inside the hotel was equally concerning. There were visible cobwebs throughout the premises, including underneath the reception desk furniture — something completely unacceptable for a Marriott-branded property and indicative of a serious lack of housekeeping and maintenance standards. The restaurant and dining facilities were also disappointing. The furniture arrangement is impractical, with lounge-style chairs that are excessively low and uncomfortable for dining. More concerning, after arriving from a 10-hour international journey, we discovered that the kitchen was closed at 7 pm, leaving us with no possibility of having a hot meal at the hotel. At no point was this limitation clearly disclosed in the Marriott App or in the hotel information provided prior to arrival. It is simply unacceptable for an airport hotel to leave guests without access to dinner service after long-haul travel, forcing them to travel approximately 6 kilometers to a shopping mall in search of food and incur an additional €30 transportation expense. To make matters worse, during our stay both elevators became inoperative, leaving guests with no practical way to transport luggage to their rooms.Additionally, the soundproofing of the guest room windows appears to be severely deteriorated. The seals no longer function properly, resulting in excessive noise intrusion from neighboring rooms and the nearby highway, significantly affecting sleep quality and guest comfort. In summary, this property appears to be in a state of severe deterioration and is dramatically below the standards associated with Marriott and AC Hotels. I have stayed at multiple AC Hotels in different locations, and this property falls substantially below any reasonable brand expectation. Covadonga Rodriguez, General Manager at AC Hotel Madrid Airport, responded to this review Dear SBV7,First of all, we would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stays with us. We truly value all feedback from our guests, as it allows us to continue improving both our service and our facilities. While we regret not fully sharing or understanding some of the points you mentioned, please rest assured that all your comments have been taken into consideration and will be internally reviewed in order to further enhance our quality standards. We would also like to take this opportunity to clarify that the hotel does indeed offer restaurant service. Our full menu is available from 13:00 to 15:30 and from 20:00 to 23:00. Additionally, between 15:30 and 20:00, we offer a reduced menu including options such as salads, sandwiches, homemade lasagna, homemade meatballs, fruit, etc. We sincerely regret that these options did not meet your expectations or suit your dining needs. We would like to once again thank you for your comments, as we consider all feedback constructive and a valuable opportunity to continue improving our service. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future and to provide you with an experience that fully meets your expectations.Kind regards,AC Hotel Madrid Airport Team

Do not book. Negative comments by other reviewers consistent with ours - location, service, building status

    rating21 May 2026

I wish I had seen some of these reviews before booking. I would have looked elsewhere. Our experience was consistent with several of the negative observations made by others. 1. Poor location - surrounded by abandoned buildings with squatters and heaps (Truckloads) of garbage everywhere. Had to walk past to get to nearby hotel restaurant for dinner.2. Restaurant only open for limited dinner after 8pm because "Spaniards eat late" quoted by the not so friendly customer service person at check in. Well, we stayed in the city in Madrid 2 weeks prior and had no problem eating before 8pm. And, the vast majority of the guests we saw at night while having a drink (server unfriendly) and in the morning were Americans, with a few Germans mixed in. Not a single Spaniard. The hotel does not care about or cater to its audience. 3. Most lights in the room did not work. Upon troubleshooting the lights by the bed, I noted that both light bulbs had been unscrewed. The only other lamp in the room on the desk was unplugged. Definitely seemed to be a "cost control measure".4. Aircon was binary - either on and very cold or we had to turn it off. changing the temperature on the thermostat did nothing. 5. I have status, although not as much as I used to, but regardless, they put us in a room at the end of the hall, the emergency exit door was open with the housekeeping staff room right on the other side of the wall from our room (We could hear the person banging around in there). What was worse was that the hallway there had not been maintained in decades - beaten up, filthy, rusted metal... Covadonga Rodriguez, General Manager at AC Hotel Madrid Airport, responded to this review Dear johncQ4928QT,First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Your comments are very important, as they help us continue improving our services.Regarding the location, we would like to point out that the hotel is situated in an industrial area close to the airport. The street has recently been refurbished and resurfaced, and it currently does not have containers or garbage trucks. Therefore, we regret your perception and are unable to identify exactly which street you may be referring to.With regard to the restaurant, it is open with full service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Between 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., we offer a reduced menu with a variety of homemade dishes, which still allows guests to enjoy a satisfying meal. We are sorry if this information was not clearly communicated during your stay.Concerning the issues in your room, we have taken note of your comments regarding the lighting and air conditioning so that our maintenance team can review them promptly. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with a much more satisfactory experience.Kind regards, AC Hotel Madrid Airport Team

Not One Of Marriott's Best AC Hotels

    rating10 May 2026

I generally like AC Hotels as they are practical, clean and no nonsense business style hotels across Spain (and now beyond in other countries) and I have stayed in many and enjoy them. The AC Hotel at the Madrid Airport however harmed the brand and Marriott (in my view). Forget the rather grotty industrial location about 8 KM from Madrid Airport and overlook the rather gruff, approach to service by the front desk (all older male) and look at the offering and service. There is a shuttle bus but confusing if you are arriving at the airport but OK if you are heading to the airport. The restaurant was basic and lacked any style or service and what totally let them down was the Euro 4 per day to store luggage until the next stay. The hotel was booked because we wanted to leave luggage. There was a lack of service even to someone up in the higher levels of the Bonvoy tier. Marriott seem to be losing control of their franchises and this one did not help their image. The baggage storage charge (not stated anywhere on their web site} caused us to change the return booking in Madrid avoiding the AC Airport Hotel and cancelling the reservation. I doubt they really cared. Covadonga Rodriguez, General Manager at AC Hotel Madrid Airport, responded to this review Dear Oldjack,Thanks for sharing your experience. I wish the location was better

    rating05 Apr 2026

The staff was incredibly nice here. I'm an ambassador and they upgraded me to the suite. Unfortunately, the suite shower is tiny - can barely turn around. The biggest is the location - across the street is an abandoned apartment/condo building. People are squatting in it and it's not a great place. We went to walk to dinner at another hotel and unfortunately that other property makes the location not good. The value of the location is great but I just didn't feel super safe in the surroundings. Covadonga Rodriguez, General Manager at AC Hotel Madrid Airport, responded to this review Dear Sakfla,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your loyalty as a valued Ambassador Member. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay. Your experience does not reflect the high standards we strive to maintain, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. The hotel is located in an area currently undergoing renovations, as part of an improvement project led by the Madrid Town Hall. While the surroundings may still reflect an industrial character with lack of shops and restaurants typical of the city center, please be assured that the area is safe, and the interior of the hotel has been fully renovated to provide our guests with a modern and comfortable environment. Nonetheless, I completely understand how the appearance of the neighborhood may have made you feel. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused you. The safety and well-being of our guests are very important for us, and we regret that we were not able to meet your expectations in this regard. Thank you for your kind words about our staff and thank you again for your valuable comments. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and offer you a more pleasant experience.Kind regards,AC Hotel Madrid Airport Team

    Hotel got the job done

    rating27 Mar 2026

Needed to stay one night before a morning flight - this hotel is close to Madrid airport. The hotel is functional and nice enough - not too new or too fancy with comfortable beds. No platinum recognition for breakfast but did offered a food discount and comp’ed our parking which was a nice gesture.A warning the parkade is tight with random poles everywhere. We rented a BMW X3 and probably could not navigate the poles but were were lucky the parkade was not full and we can drive through some empty parking spots.
