Could have been great , sadly not so much.

    rating28 Apr 2026

Unfortunately, the room was too small, and the same goes for the bed. It’s a nice concept, but it needs more space to really work. The bed is not suitable for two adults and isn’t comfortable for sleeping. The hot water in both the shower and the sink took far too long to warm up. The bathroom layout is also poorly designed sitting on the toilet is uncomfortable because your leg constantly hits the toilet paper holder. The breakfast area is very cramped. You have to be careful where you walk or turn to avoid knocking things over. In addition, the staff seemed overwhelmed, constantly running around making coffee, and at times there was no one available to let guests in, which is not acceptable. There is rooftop bar area with swimming pool , but no sitting are to enjoy a drink only beach chairs ..not every one wants to lay down on this ! Adding some normal chairs for th guest will be great and also people will wanna stay. Jaime Garcia-Morato Reimunde, Director General at Axel Hotel Madrid, responded to this review Dear B8844HQivanm,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your stay with us. We truly regret that your experience did not fully meet your expectations. We are sorry to read that the room size and bed comfort were not as expected. Our rooms are designed with a unique concept, but we understand that comfort and space are key elements, and we appreciate your comments. We also take note of your remarks regarding the bathroom layout and the delay in hot water, which we are currently reviewing with our maintenance team.Regarding breakfast, we are sorry to hear that the area felt crowded and that the service did not flow as it should. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and your feedback has been shared with the team to improve organization and guest attention during peak times. We also appreciate your suggestion about the rooftop area. Your point regarding the addition of more seating options is very valuable, as we always look for ways to enhance our guests’ comfort and overall experience.Thank you again for your constructive feedback, as it helps us to continue improving. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a much better stay in Madrid.Kind regards,Jaime Garcia-Morato RHotel General ManagerAxel Hotel Madrid

    Axel Hotel Madrid

    rating19 Apr 2026

Our stay at Axel Hotel Madrid was a major disappointment, especially compared to our positive experiences at Axel hotels in Barcelona and Valencia during our week‑long trip to Spain. We stayed for three nights, and it ended up being the worst part of our entire Spain trip. The room we were assigned was small and on a lower floor right next to the gym, which turned out to be a terrible location. The noise was constant and unbearable, late at night from people lining up for the underground bar, and early in the morning from the gym. The treadmill noise on Sunday morning was especially disruptive, making it impossible to get any rest after a long journey. What made matters worse was the lack of support from the staff. When we first reported the issue, we spoke to a night staff member named Jose, who was extremely unprofessional. He showed little interest in helping me, barely acknowledged me, and simply said nothing could be done. When I asked about switching rooms, he dismissed the request, saying we could try again in the morning since no rooms were available which I understand, but responding while remaining seated, focused on his computer, and not engaging properly was unacceptable. The following day, we were woken up early on a Sunday morning by a terrible noise coming from the treadmill in the gym, and I raised the issue with a lady receptionist. She merely confirmed that the noise was coming from the gym—which was already obvious—and offered no real solution. I even suggested closing the gym windows to reduce the noise (which, by the way, never happened), as it felt like no effort was being made to address our concerns. We had to endure the noise from the gym until our checkout.Overall, the experience was frustrating and exhausting. We expected much better, especially given our positive stays at other Axel properties. Unfortunately, this stay at Axel Hotel Madrid did not meet our expectations, and we will not be returning. Jaime Garcia-Morato Reimunde, Director General at Axel Hotel Madrid, responded to this review Dear Frank,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to read that your stay with us did not meet your expectations, especially after your positive experiences in our other Axel properties. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by the noise during your stay. While we have taken measures to minimize disturbances, we are unfortunately unable to restrict access to the gym during early morning hours, as it is a service available to all our guests. We completely understand how frustrating this situation must have been for you, particularly after a long journey. We also regret that we were not able to offer you a room change at the time of your request, as the hotel was fully occupied. That said, your comments regarding the service received have been shared with the team, as providing attentive and empathetic service is a priority for us.We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us to continue improving, and we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in Madrid for a much more pleasant and comfortable stay.Kind regards,Jaime Garcia-Morato RHotel General Manager

    Break in Madrid

    rating20 Feb 2026

I booked the hotel for my wife and me for a break around Madrid. I did not realise it was a gay hotel but that is another story. Back to the review-the staff were brilliant, the breakfast was really good, the location is good, and if you get over your hangovers regarding the decor, the rooms are really good, although the sepeartion between the bedroom and the toilet takes a bit of getting used to. Overall I have nothing but a positive view of the Axel hotel, and what it offers Manager Axel Hotel Madrid, at Axel Hotel Madrid, responded to this review Dear Elwyn,Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. Axel hotel is perfectly located within walking distance to the Antón Martin Metro station and short distance to La Puerta del sol. Many restaurants and local markets are few steps away.Hotel feels fresh with a balance atmosphere and with the most exceptional staff that it will make you feel home. I must mention the professional and caring front desk staff that’s second to none and above any other of the Axel hotel that I have ever stayed. Fernando, Jaime, Diego and Nora always willing to help with a smile and ready to accommodate and assist in any way. Thanks you guys! I am super grateful for your support and dedication!!. Also I would like to recognize the breakfast staff for their dedication and expedite service. 👍🏻Rooms are always clean and comfortable, plenty of amenities mini fridge with plenty of goodies and adult beverages;) Rooftop area seem awesome for a good summer sunny day at the pool, with a bar available for drinks 🍹 Definitely a great place to stay when visiting Madrid or Barcelona.
