Location

This hotel is located in the heart of Madrid, within paces of the bus station and the southern junction of the M-30 motorway. The largest foodstuffs market, Mercamadrid, lies within metres of the hotel and Atocha train station as well as many of this Spanish city's sights are a short walk away.

Facility

The hotel has 62 double rooms, which are located on 4 storeys and are reachable by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Additional amenities include a TV room and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested.     El Retiro Madrid is the second Catalonia hotel in which we’ve stayed. The hotel staff and services far exceeded our expectations. In our experience, Catalonia offers superior value for the accommodations. The multi-lingual front desk staff was incredibly patient and helpful with local recommendations. In particular, Monica helped me considerably with my very broken Spanish. Although I wasn’t mocked, I felt like she appreciated my best effort to communicate in her native language. Every hotel should valued employees as kind and professional as Monica. We plan to return to Catalonia El Retiro during our next visit to Madrid.     A delightful experience

    This was a delightful experience . Such very pleasant receptionists - helpful with luggage and registering , and even the offer of a welcoming drink. The location suited us well. The atmosphere was most welcoming. The rooms comfortable and well equipped with tea and coffee as well as a mini bar. The breakfast the best we have had out of many hotels elsewhere in Spain - with the choice on offer particularly of cereals. The service throughout the hotel was exemplary. We could not fault the place in any way and shall certainly stay again - either at this hotel or even try others of the Catalonia chain . If the others live up to our experience at El Retire we shall be most content.     I would highly recommend this hotel. Located in the city of Madrid, it is easily accessible to the city. Subway station is very close and a grocery is directly across the street. (Always helpful) I gave it 4 stars because the rooms need a little update, but the staff more than make up for any minor updates that need to happen. Most speak English quite well and everyone that we encountered were kind, patient and friendly. A special shout out to Alejandro, who helped me through a panic attack as I was trying to get packages shipped out to my home. I'm truly sorry if I was rude!! I would not hesitate to come back.     We have an excellent stay in this hotel. The staff are extra friendly and accomodating, the breakfast are delicious, great and many choices of foods.It is close to the metro 1 which direct to the tourist district. They allowed us to check in early.
