English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe.     In April we had a one week stay at Catalonia Puerta del Sol in Madrid. The hotel is very well located. It’s on Calle Atocha, but our street facing room was still quiet. A short walk away are Plaza Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. All of Madrid’s major museums were within walking distance, at most a 30 minute walk to the Prado, Sofia Reina, Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Naval museum, the Palacio collection and the Archeological Museum, all of which we visited on various days. Plenty of cafes and restaurants are within walking distance as well. And the San Miguel Mercado, with its great variety of tapas and small portions, is about a 15 minute walk. We enjoyed the variety and visited twice. We had reserved a Junior Suite room: it had a spacious bedroom, large bathroom, and a small sitting room, which unfortunately had no windows and was rather dreary. But as we were staying for a week, we appreciated the extra space. The rooms decor was nice, everything clean and maintained well and the services were excellent, from front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast service.The breakfast buffet was varied and generous - well worth paying extra for. And the servers were friendly and prompt to provide your choice of beverage or eggs prepared fresh, though there were also eggs to chose from at the buffet, as well as two varieties of tortillas (an egg and potato dish). Extra touches during our stay were appreciated, such as fruit and a bottle of Cava on the evening we arrived and chocolates left every evening. The front desk ( we interacted with the attentive Celia the most) was ready to answer any questions or call for transport. Our stay was very pleasant and we would definitely recommend Catalonia Puerta del Sol for your stay in Madrid.     We found the hotel to be in a good location - easy walking distance to most attractions (very close to the Plaza Mayor). Our room was clean and the people at the front desk were friendly. The breakfast buffet was pretty good - yummy cheese and amazingly good bread, tortillas were pretty good (and they had a huge container of Nutella with a pump dispenser). I would have preferred a room with a balcony, though, like the hotel across the street...     Our Superior Room was spacious and comfortable with good A/C and a good-sized bathroom and shower. The room was surprisingly quiet at night, given the great location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the setting pleasant.     Perfect from beginning to end.

    Wonderful stay. Everything was perfect. Great location just a few minutes walk from Plaza Major. Lots of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby and a couple of minutes walk from a metro stop. We had a suite and it was superb. Spacious, quiet, comfortable with a large bathroom and large walk in shower. There was plenty of storage space and complimentary tea and coffee. We also got a platter of fresh fruit on the evening of arrival with a bottle of Cava and a platter of fresh fruit again the evening the day before we left. Recommend the breakfasts - huge choice of hot and cold buffet, great breads and pastries with eggs cooked to order. Throughout the hotel all the staff were delightful, reception and in the breakfast area particularly. In all a perfect stay.
