  Writing my first ever review to give this place 1/5 stars because — get this — the shower is on a seven second timer! Meaning the water turns off unless you push a button every seven seconds! Think about how inconvenient that is. What kind of an absolute monster even thinks of such a thing as a shower on a seven second timer?!

  Fun hostel with private rooms

  This is a hostel with dormitory rooms but also has private rooms. Our room was small, with a small bathroom and shower. We're small too, so this worked. Large people might not fit in the shower. The double bed is oriented sideways against the back wall, which means that the person next to the wall has to climb over the other person to exit the bed. The room was modern and attractive, with a microwave oven and refrigerator. The air conditioning worked well. There also were two communal kitchens nearby with further facilities. There is a third floor outdoor terrace, it was OK, not great. The location is good--two blocks to Metro Line 1, in a quiet neighborhood but near shops, restaurants, and bars. Staff are friendly and efficient. The Mercado San Enrique is 3 blocks away, with supermarket, bars, restaurants, and market stalls. The lounge next to the kitchen had a piano, and on several occasions we enjoyed listening to talented players.

  Great Hostel in Madrid, very economical!

  Very easy check-in with incredibly helpful staff!! I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm and had relatively no issues. One night a few travelers came in late from partying and were not super mindful but this is not the fault of the hostel, just comes with the territory of shared rooms! I believe Far Home offers private beds if that is your preference. The bathrooms/common areas were cleaned daily by very friendly staff. The hostel is super close to Estrecho (metro/bus station) that allow making it into the city center very easy. Though I did have an early flight out so public transport was limited at the time- uber/bolt are available to schedule rides at a relatively cheap rate if need in to be somewhere by 5am (most buses won’t arrive until 6:30/6:40am and metro doesn’t run until 6am). All in all an incredibly easy stay- 10/10 recommend♥️

  Clean Room, Nice Staff, Good Breakfast

  Staying here for two nights before heading to Sarria to start the El Camino hike. We have the four-bed family room with private shower. Basic room which does the intended purpose. Very friendly staff. Breakfast is good and the breakfast room staff is very nice and helpful. There are shops and fast-food restaurants (e.g. KFC and Subway, etc.) nearby. Estrecho Metro station is right around the corner. Overall a pleasant stay.

  A very comfy sleep in the centre of Madrid-Good mattress and chair to workThis hotel is only one star, but the quality is medium/high. I booked a double bed and a private bathroom; the price is around 100 euros, which I think is expensive, but it may be the usual price in Madrid for one star hotels.The location is convenient for Line 1, the blue line and stop "Estrecho"; L1 stops at Atocha, the high/speed station. The ride is approximately 30 minutes. The personnel are very kind and helpful. I was able to check in early since I needed to work. The room is small, but the bed has a nice size. It is very clean. However, it is difficult to keep up the highest standards since the floor is white and there were some hairs on the floor. I had a very good sleep; The quality of the mattress is excellent, and people are respectful and quiet, even though there are some common areas for guests who share bedrooms or other amenities. The chair in the bedroom is very comfy to work on. I managed to work for eight hours. All the furniture is of high standards, overall.There is complimentary tea and decaf coffee the whole day round.On the bad side, the breakfast was not great. The quality of the products is not good, for example, bread, jam (low-calories), pastries, or juices, which are not fruit natural juices. There are not too many options. The breakfast should start earlier than 8 am, above all for guests who are on business.I do not think guests should wash their dishes, but rinse them and allocate them in the dishwasher since they are using the same sponge, and after COVID-19, this practice should be avoided for further illnesses.The coffee machine provides coffee but is not of such good quality. It does not come hot enough.The quality of the towels is not good. They are old and do not dry properly.I think it is essential to have recycling bins, in particular, since guests are booking to sleep and they cook and prepare their food. The coffee machine does not allow you to reuse your glass, which is a shame as per providing a new glass with a plastic spoon every time you want a coffee. I tried to press the option "no glass", but it will not work. It seems that everything goes in the same bin.The shower has low pressure and two taps. It is not easy to reach quick and warm water. The head is not mobile, so girls bring your shower cap. The quality of the shower gel is nice.Very fashionable!!
