Location

This building lies at the heart of Madrid. An ideal point of departure for those wishing to discover the famous sights of interest, for example, the famous Santiago Bernabéu stadium, Plaza de Cuzco, Prado Museum and the Congress Centre. Numerous shopping and leisure facilities are to be found on the Paseo de la Castellana are only a few steps from the hotel. The train station lies around 2 km away and the airport is roughly 8 km from the hotel.

Facility

38 apartments are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities available at the apartment hotel include a baggage storage service and a drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing.     Super, air condition was not able to warm the place, walls were so thin you could hear other guests being intimate... One window couldn't be closed, other than that, everything was great! Easy check-in, and clean apartment! Location was a bit in "scary" neighbourhood. Value was okay (105e/night). Kitchen amenities were just fine for a short stay, they had an iron, extra blanket.

    An excellent accommodation served well by buses and metro. The rooms are spacious and the welcome basket is a lovely extra. A 10 minute walk from Real Madrid Stadium. Very much value for money.

    Booking was easy enough. Checkin is via a kiosk in the driveway which took ages because it wouldn’t scan our passports so had to manually enter. Down into the carpark and if you have a larger car -good luck. We had room 308 which was on the corner. Apartment is roomy enough and very dated but: curtains don’t fit windows properly so light comes in (not sure when they were last washed), whilst double glazed there is a lot of noise from the street mainly at night. 2 bars nearby, trucks, rubbish collector etc. outside the bedroom window is one of their large illuminated signs and with ill fitting curtains lit up our room. Washing machine is good and there is a clothesline on the huge balcony but no pegs. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, coffee machine and 2 burner hot plate which you’ve no idea what the temperature is because the signage has gone. Single round sink and nowhere to drain your dishes. Cupboard doors don’t fit properly and utensils and cookware very limited so if you really wanted to cook a proper meal it would be hard. No spare toilet paper nor rubbish bin liners. Oh and we couldn’t get the aircon working. The area is very family so felt safe however it’s about 30-40 minutes by metro to any attractions. Reception. Never saw anyone there in the 5 days we were in and out.

    Can't check in after hours when automatic check in machine is broken.

    Arrived at 8.00 in the evening. Reception is closed at this time, which we knew it would be, and so to check in you have to use an automated system. We entered our booking number successfully but the machine crashed while trying to give us our room keys. The machine then displayed an out of order message with a phone number. We called the number and were told that they would need to send a technician out to repair it, and it would take him an hour to get there. Not good. 2 young children of 7 an 10 and we are sitting outside on the street with all our luggage. Only one automatic machine and it's broken. 9.15 and still no technician has arrived.

    I have stayed at the Galeon five times now, before and after Covid. I've always had a great stay, including this one.You get an incredible amount of space for the price. It's not super fancy but the beds are comfy, the kitchen is a massive bonus and all is clean. Good storage in bedroom and bathroom. There are plenty of places to eat nearby but they are not tourist places - friendly though.Close to two metro lines.The only negative point is the introduction of the self check in machine. I found it very frustrating to use. I could not get it to scan my passport. Fortunately there were very helpful staff on hand to assist me. (THANK YOU!)However if it had been after 5pm when staff finish then I dont know what I would have done. Also the machine is exposed to the weather. Not so bad in the summer but not sure about late on a wet February night. Not having any staff around in the evening made me feel a tiny bit vulnerable. I would have preferred to see a friendly face other than on arrival.It wont stop me staying here again but for me it's a step backward.
