Basic accommodation in a budget hotel

Excellent location....steps from Puerta del Sol and Sol metro stationExcellent wi-fiLots of hot water if you are able to fit into the shower stall. The room, and particularly the shower, were small even by European standards.I arrived well before check-in time and was able to store my suitcase.Walls were paper thin, could hear people conversing in a normal voice.Room key did not fit the outside door - a tenant in one of the building's apartments happened along while I was "fighting" with the lock.Popular nightclub immediately across the street - could be a problem if you have a room in the front of the building.

Great location with bad service & room

    rating03 Jun 2018

Te hostal is in the city centre, but this is the only advantage of the place.the rooms are extremly loud (I could hear the alarm clock from the neighbouring room) and there was a hole under my door. The service is bad, most of the staff didn't speak any english, and the breakfast consisted only prepacked bakery products, which you could eat only in your room, as there where no common rooms.

    Budget hotel, central location.

    rating08 Mar 2018

I stayed here for 2 nights whilst travelling. The hotel is centrally located and within easy reach of monuments and attractions. There are extensive restaurants, shops and cafes. There is also Madrid’s biggest night club opposite the hotel, consequently resulting in a lot of noise during the night. I would recommend wearing ear plugs in order for you to sleep. Bin men also collect rubbish in the middle of the night. The double room is quite small but suitable for one person. The bathroom is very small and I could just about fit in the shower, without moving and I’m a slim 5ft 3. My head was nearly touching the ceiling therefore it wouldn’t be suitable for anyone much taller than me. The bed was a small double, suitable for one person and reasonably comfortable. Late checkout is charged at €10 per hour and to leave your luggage is €1 per hour, therefore I had to sit in a cafe with my luggage and wait for my transfer. WiFi is free but slow. You get room service at a time of your choice. It was nice to be woken with a coffee and juice. However I wouldn’t recommend paying extra for the breakfast as I did in advance. Breakfast is a packet croissant and a cake. I would recommend buying a croissant nearby in a cafe. I would recommend the breakfast to be improved. Nearby is a restaurant called Madrid Grill. Very nice food and extensive set menu for €17.99 which includes 3 course, wine and coffee. The palace is also great and also witnessing the change of guards. This begins at 11:30am everyday. The gardens is also beautiful, you can row in a boat on the lake.

    Madrid City Trip

    rating26 Apr 2016

Its a very good City you should travel to. Great for a City Trip. You get the most of it if ypu travel by underground rail, and take the Sight Seeing tour of Madrid. I also took the train to Barcelona to see a bit of spain.

    Excellent location!

If you are looking for a cheap and good located hostel in Madrid, this hostel Alicante is for you. A few meters from hostel is the Underground (Metro) Sol Station and plaza Puerta del Sol and the famous Chocolateria San Gines. Room was clean and have a heater, bathroom small but clean, WiFi free. Was a little noise cause the room is near to street, but this was not a problem for a good sleep. If I go back to Madrid, I think that I will go back to this hostel.PS: I stayed in room number 2, with a private bathroom.
