Location

The hostel is located right in the centre of Madrid. Its proximity to links to the public transport network means that it is in an optimum location for both business and leisure travellers. The Gran Vía metro station is only about 200 m away. The most emblematic monuments and buildings in the city, as well as the cinemas and theatres on Gran Vía, are all easily accessible. The Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Plaza Mayor and the Puerta del Sol are all just a short walk away. The Chamartín railway station is approximately 7 km from the hostel.

Facility

7 single rooms and 28 double rooms are located on 5 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities available at the hostel include a baggage storage service, a safe and a drinks machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hostel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hostel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. Rooms

    The hostel has a great location, just a few meters from a very central avenue, Gran Via, from where you can explore on foot or by taking public transportation, which has very good service, or by taking the metro with two stations very close by (Gran Via and Callao). The frequent taxi service is another option. It's also nearby a variety of restaurants and food stalls. There are many shopping centres for those who prefer to shop. It's very safe for solo travellers. The 24-hour staff offers security and is very attentive to provide information if you need it. The rooms and hallways are always kept clean. The room service is impeccable. Regarding the surroundings, the only unpleasant experience is the women "street workers," who are often a bit noisy. I was very satisfied with my stay.

    The hotel is in a good location, room was clean and we paid a good price. I would’ve liked to have given this 5 stars but the only downfall was that the cleaner woke us up around 8am each morning having loud conversations outside our room and slamming doors in the corridor etc. Seeing as we are on holiday we would’ve preferred to not be woken up every day as being sleepy had an impact on our trip, so maybe a later start time or asking them to be quieter would be a bit better. There are some lady’s of the night that linger outside the hotel and on the street outside which could be intimidating for some but they were harmless. Over all good stay for the price.

    The positives about Ballesta are obvious. It is at a good location. Just north of Gran Via and very central. It is a recently renovated accomodation that is tastefully decorated. I check in was easy, though the person at the front desk knew no English. The lobby seems spacious and comfortable. Noise from the street was non existent for my room in the rear of the building. The main problem involved the lack of noise insulation between rooms. Noise seemed to be easily conveyed via gaps in the doors and walls. While the noise wasn't usually loud, it was more often audible. During normal waking hours, it was not a problem. However, locals sometimes (weekend nights) seem to enjoy talking most of the night long resulting to audible conversations in the early morning hours. Also, a refrigerator in the room would have been preferred.

    Pleasant and comfortable stay. We felt very good and the price was very good. Pleasant location and close to the tourist area.Clean and everything in order!The staff was very helpful by keeping our luggage until check out. And this without extra payment. Thank you!

    We had to cancel our accommodation due to covid 19 and our borders closed in Australia.
