    Horrible.

Hello. All I can say is that this place is horrible and the customer service is terrible. Not alot of eating places nearby and people in that town mostly don't speak English, and that can be hard at times.

A very nice place in a small town

    rating22 Apr 2018

The hotel is located in a lovely little town Campo Real which is a 40-minute ride from Madrid (be aware that the buses don't go regularly - there are only three or four buses a day to get to Madrid during weekends!). We liked everything about the hotel - it was clean and the room was big enough for the three of us. Our host, David, was super friendly and helpful even though he didn't speak much English. He tried hard to make sure we felt comfortable - he delivered extra blankets because we were too cold, he lent us a hairdryer, he helped with transportation to Madrid. He also makes amazing coffee for breakfast ;) If you are looking for a place to sleep outside of Madrid or if you don't mind to take a bus to get there, this is definitely a place for you!

Some great points some not so !

Firstly - i realise this is a hostal type property, not a 4*, so will tell you what i found good. The rooms were clean, the guy at reception was polite and helpful. Now the not so good, parking is difficult, and we were there out of season in November. Hostal in a narrow cul de sac, very limited spaces unless you park a little way from property. The heating/air con was not working, and it was a pretty cold room. There were no blankets on the bed, only 2 sheets and a bedspread, the pillows were very firm, and 2 pillows were in one of the long spanish style pillowcases, so you couldnt really shift it around for comfort. The breakfast was abysmal, although served by the nice reception guy, there wasnt much to be had. 2 slices of toast each, and a choice of jam or cheese triangle. There was packet juice, coffee and those really bland prewrapped cakes, but thats it. No yogourt no fruit no cold meat -nada. I wouldnt stay here again, even the little town was bland.

A reasonable alternative to staying in Madrid!

    rating03 Aug 2017

Hostal Campo Real offers a good "quiet' alternative to being within close proximity to Madrid. We could take bus # 313, about one hour bus ride. Granted, it does wind around, making several stops along the way. No matter, it gives you a chance to sightsee and relax! The bus drops you off at Conde de Casal station in Madrid, (this is its last stop, before returning back to Campo Real), cost approximately for 2 people, 8.40 euro, one way. Here we would catch the Metro, one stop to Pacifico station on the Grey line, then transfer to the Blue line, six stops to Sol Station, cost 3.70 euro for 2 people, one way. Easy, and care free! (The Metro is wheelchair accessible). The Sol station is in the centre of Madrid. Here you can catch a Madrid City Tour bus, you can access the main shopping areas, as well as being a short walk away from the Plaza Major. Very convenient.Campo Real is a small town of 6000, 20 km. east of Madrid. It has a nice plaza, where you will find ammenities such as a bank, a bakery, restaurants and a small grocery store. It is here that you catch the #313 bus to Madrid. It has a notable church, the Iglesia de Santa Maria del Castillo. The town dates back to Moorish times, the present name was given to it by Philip II in 1580.The Hostal Campo Real is a small, (quiet) hotel situated off the main road into town. There is parking available on the street just outside. The rooms were simple, nice and clean, there was a very modern bathroom. A tv was available and there was free wifi. What more could you ask for! The whole establishment was very clean and very well looked after. When we arrived, we had to ring for service, a young man arrived shortly after, and proceeded to check us in, quite efficiently. He spoke English well enough and was able to help us with our questions about access to transportation to Madrid, etc.The only con that I would say we had, and really very minor, was with the breakfast included with our room. It really was nonexistent, perhaps it would have better to not have offered it. Puzzling that it consisted of packaged, overly sweet breads and instant coffee when only a block away was a super-excellent bakery. A baguette from there would have been superb! Maybe it was because it was a bit in the early season, but as I said, no big deal and probably not worth a comment, oh well.Anyway, we would give this place a deserved thumbs up, and definitely would recommend staying here as an alternative to staying in Madrid.

    A real gem near Madrid

    rating14 Oct 2015

Campo Real is a few kilometers away from the Main Roald towards south east. The Hostal is situated in the middle of town. Clean rooms, helpful staff and free parking. Breakfast was very good, and the ham was homemade!
