  Bring your sheets from home, just in case….

  Well… what can I say? When we opened the door of our room… first reaction was “shock” at its fullest, and believe me… not in a positive way. The sheets were filthy, with hair and stain of god knows what (I don’t want to know).very claustrophobic.Only positive thing is the location.

  Location was fantastic, right at the centre of Gran Via. The value for money is fantastic. It can get a bit noisy from the crowd outside, but that didn't bother us too much. One small note of caution, the lift is a bit small and there is always a big group of people queuing up to use the lift, so it can take while.

  The hotel is placed in a very good position, everything is around it and you can easily reach whatever destination you want.The hotel itself is dirty, beds were not clean when we arrived and the bathroom (apart from being very basic) is very small and unsuitable for more than one person taking a shower after another.

  The hotel had an amazing central location for seeing all the sights and good access to the metro. It was clean and the staff were very helpful even though we needed to check in late, and the room was basic but comfortable.

  Hostal Continental is located on the Gran Via, right in front of Plaza de Callao. From there it is only a short walk to the Plaza Mayor and the "Madrid de los Austrias" area, as well as to Puerta del Sol. If you are willing to walk a little more, you can soon reach the Plaza de Cibeles, the Puerta de Alcala, and even the Prado museum. There also is a metro station at the Plaza de Callao, so from there it is possible to reach almost any place in Madrid. Rooms facing the Gran Via and the Callao square are the best. They are the largest and have balconies with a great view of the square, one of the most vibrant places in Madrid. They are austere but very clean; those where I have stayed at have air conditioning and included all essential items. The staff is kind and helpful and will take care of any needs you may have. The relationship price-quality is very good.
