    0/5 Stars Absolutely dreadful experience at Hostel Foster. I had the misfortune of booking a stay on 12/29/23, right in the heart of New Year's Eve weekend, only to arrive and find the place deserted and inaccessible. Despite having a confirmed reservation, there was nobody there (or available at their emergency lines) to check me in or even offer a semblance of assistance.This left me stranded in an unfamiliar place, scrambling to find alternative accommodation at a much higher cost during one of the busiest times of the year. Not only did Hostel Foster ruin my vacation plans, but they also managed to drain my wallet and waste precious time when festivities were at their peak.To add insult to injury, my attempts to contact them for help were met with silence. No response to calls, no replies to emails. It's like they vanished into thin air, leaving me high and dry with no recourse.I've demanded a full refund, but they flat out refused. Their response (at their emergency email) on the Tuesday after the holiday weekend was simply that I arrived after check-in hours (which was not effectively communicated nor stated on booking.com). As if that's any excuse for leaving a guest stranded during one of the busiest weekends of the year! It's a pathetic attempt to deflect blame and shows their complete lack of accountability. Shameful.Consider this a warning to anyone thinking of staying at Hostel Foster during peak times: don't bother. Save yourself the headache, the stress, and the money. And to the management of Hostel Foster: Shame on you for your disgraceful treatment of paying customers, especially during such a significant weekend and having no consideration for travelers coming from afar nor emergencies that may come up. You should be ashamed to call yourselves a hostel, let alone a business. You deserve to be shut down for your abysmal service and utter disregard for your guests' well-being.Avoid this place like the plague.

    Single room very, very small, blanket had stains, foreign hair on the floor, shower almost overflowed, bath mat not clean and it was cold in the room. It would only be heated from November. It was only 10 degrees outside! It stank in the room and the courtyard. Extremely noisy, you can hear everything. Not much sleep.Full amount was charged to my credit card without being asked, although I said I wanted to pay cash, which I did. Had to phone my bank several times to make sure I got my money back. I found the receptionist very rude and cheeky, ruined my stay considerably.Breakfast in a café a few streets away. Only open from 9am. If you have early plans, bad luck. Cancellation not possible, totally inflexible.Luggage cannot be checked in anywhere. If I had known this in advance, I would not have booked an evening flight or would never have booked here.Conclusion: never ever again!

    As you can read in many other testimonials of this property, the score on booking is really high (or was), making you believe this is a very good choice in Madrid. But it's not. I have been using booking through all my life, booking hotels and hostels around the world and this was the very first time I was fooled by the score and by the owners of this place. So, long story short:- The place is very nicely localized in the heart of Madrid. What nobody tells you is that is near two bars with noise staring at 8 pm and finishing at 6 am. I couldn't sleep one single night; the noise was totally unbearable. - They say they have a 24h reception, which is not true. I was asked about the time of our arrival one week before and at the day of the arrival the flight was delayed 1h. I notified the reception right before the arrival and they sent me an email informing I would be charged of 25€ per room (I booked 3 rooms) due to the late check in (this information was not stated in the website at the time). - After we arrived, we were very nicely received by the staff that asked for the total payment in money, we did the payment and we were told an invoice will be delivered afterwards (which never happened). - At this point, we were told that no extra charge will be charged due to the late check in but in exchange we would have to make a review on booking. I have answered ironically that would not be a problem, as I always review every place I go. - So, regarding my room: not so clean has it should, but ok. In my friend’s rooms, besides the terrible noise at night, the bathrooms were terribly smelly and one of the rooms smelled like someone was smoking there before and the smell persisted the whole stay. - We left and the staff was again very friendly, they stored our bags during some hours before heading off to the airport, so regarding to the staff, nothing to say.- Right after we left, I received an email asking me to make a review on booking and saying: “Especialmente un 10 en todo… ;)”. As you can imagine, after 3 days without sleeping and smelly rooms, I would never give a 10 to this place. Still, because the staff was so friendly, I gave an 8,3. - What happened next: I was charged 75€ of a purchase on my credit card. I contacted the hostal to ask what was this value about, since my credit card was only used to book the place and I paid the total amount at the arrival. I never got an answer. So I presented a complaint to VISA, explaining the situation and I got my money back after several emails with bank.- As you can perceive by this description, they waited for the score. It was not 10, as requested, and they decided to charge the 25€ x 3 rooms of the "late check in tax". - This is why this property, had at the time such a high score on booking, through persuading people to give the highest score. I described all this in here, as no action was taken by booking, but also to prevent people like me, that rely on other comments to make their choices, to be fooled and backmail and not be truthful on their opinions. I really hope this situation has led the owners to change their behavior and make future stays a better experience for customers.

    Nice and cheap place to spend a night in Madrid.

    If you a solo traveller who is looking for cheap accommodation then this is the place. They do single rooms with ensuite for less then 30 Euros. Very small room but the place is nice and clean. Located in the city centre just like 5-7 minutes walk to Sol. Staff are friendly and helpful.As the rooms are in a hostel, it becomes bit busy and noisy as you hear lot of people walk in corridors.

    Large apartments with plenty of room. Situated in the heart of Madrid a very short walk to Sol and the Metro system. However the apartment itself was in need of attention and some care. Although well appointed the plumbing and tiling in the toilets and kitchenette requires some attention. Great for the vibrant nightlife. Not for early bedders due to the adjacent street bars and cafes.
