When you want to be right, slap bang in the middle of things, on a budget.

    rating22 Apr 2025

Mostly, there are positives. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were just the way I like them. Soft but not to squishy. I slept really well. The room had very high ceilings and A/C, although I didn't need to use it. Location-wise - it can't be beaten. It is right in the heart of Chueca - for party animals. There are lots of restaurants and bars nearby. When I lived in Madrid, I lived directly across from this place and I felt nostalgic as I could see my old apartment from the bedroom window. The reception staff I met were incredibly helpful and polite. I speak Spanish, but they spoke such good English, that I decided to speak only in English. The morning I was leaving, I asked if I could leave my luggage for a little while and was given two options: keep it there till reception closed (6pm) or bring it to a nearby sister hotel, whose reception was open until 11.30pm (the option I chose). And now for the improvement opportunities. You can hear what is happening in other rooms. Thankfully, I just heard doors closing and taps being turned on and off. The layout of the bathroom was not ideal for me. There was a certain amount of mental planning needed when certain bodily functions were required. You access the building with a code which is provided in advance and then you ring a bell outside the actual hotel/hostel. I did get a little confused with this, but it all worked out in the end. I would definitely stay and again and hope to.

    Just ok

    rating08 Jul 2024

It was just ok. I would stay elsewhere next time.ProsBed very comfy for this price range Fun location Interior room was reasonably quiet Elevator ConsLacking cleanliness and facilities not maintained so well:- air conditioning unit was excessively loud. When I told reception, their was response was that it was old so nothing could be down about the sound -could not comfortably take a shower - the plastic hook that holds the shower head needs to be replaced - if kept falling off and was moldy-mold and gunk in shower and bathroom sink soap dispenser was gross

    Madrid on a budget

    rating23 Feb 2020

Last minute city break booked so we were on a budget for the accommodation. This hostal is clean, very central and has all the basics for a few days. Amazing value.Only downside was the noise from outside until the early hours but that's due to this hostal's central location more than anything else. Hostal Hispano, Director General at Hostal Hispano Gran Via, responded to this review Dear Customer,We are very happy for your opinion and that we were able to participate in your stay in Madrid. Thank you for choosing us and we hope you choose us again for future visits.Thank you and receive a cordial greeting.Mercedes

    Good hotel

    rating25 Aug 2019

Good hotel. Room 208 was lovely although a bit small. Good air conditioner and shower. Cleaned daily and towels changed. Toiletries provided. Convenient as next to Gran Vie. Bit noisy at night but was in the middle of the gay area and restaurants. Highly recommended. Staff really helpful

    Great find

    rating25 Jun 2019

We wanted something close to the center of Madrid that was also close to where my son lived and this place was perfect. Very friendly staff, clean, air conditioned room with en-suite and very easy to find.Breakfast was additional but as we were in an area that was packed with good places to eat, we went out daily and had breakfast in places used by locals.
