Visited a two 🌟 🌟 hotel in Paris and a one 🌟 hotel in Madrid, if compare both, the one 🌟 hotel in Madrid, looks like a three 🌟 🌟 🌟 hotel in France. So I recommend you to see further the pics they've upload.

    Ok...ish

Pros:Good location in central Madrid, with quite easy access to nearby metro stations.Sadly that’s pretty much it for the prosCons:Shower: was annoying because the hot water was about as reliable as a knitted condom and the thing which holds the shower hose was broken so you literally had to hold the thing in your hand the whole time.Room: (1st floor, double) was simply ugly with dull walls and an all-grey bed. Far too small for a double room. The woollen blanket was dirty with clumps of hair and stains from past guests in it. The bed was also slightly too small, although to be fair I’m quite tall and it was quite a negligible issue.WiFi: 3 different Networks. All of them require the same tedious password. All of them promise you 3 bars the whole time. None of them work. I hope your 4G works because God knows this place’s WiFi doesn’tBreakfast: Yeah no. They give you coupons to be used in one of two nearby cafés. This lets you get the ‘breakfast option’ for free. If you want anything else you need to pay standard rate. Well what is the ‘breakfast option?’ I hear you ask. Simple; one croissant, a coffee and an orange juice.Key & access: No elevator which isn’t that bad to be honest, but is annoying when you have heavy luggage. They give you one key (non-electronic) which you need to use to lock you door, otherwise it’s just closed. Not overly difficult, just a bit old fashioned which isn’t really my style. Also when you want to go in the main entrance you need to ring a bell like in a block of flats and ask the receptionist for permission. To be fair to them they did always answer quickly, spoke English and did let me in all the time, It just made me feel awkward to bother someone every time I came back.I mean I’ve been in worse hostels before and I don’t want to come across as snobbish it’s just when you pay €266 for two nights in a place that presents itself as quality, you wouldn’t expect to find something like this.In summary: if it were cheaper and clearer what exactly it was it would be fine, but in reality it is overpriced and very underwhelming, but does have good access to Madrid

Overpriced in derelict area of Madrid

    rating29 Sept 2018

Let's be honest, Malasana is a dirty and almost derelict barrio of Madrid, nestled between the uber-cool Justicia and slightly more upper end of the market, Arguelles/Moncloa. That's not saying the bars, bakeries in the area are not good. I found a great one 'Padron' and a good Irish pub. This hostal is based on a 2nd floor (without escalator). Receptionists either speak a small spattering of English or none at all. My single room was OK (backing into a courtyard, aircon worked) apart from the towels which are almost threadbare and certainly from the 20th century. Not that I stay in these types of places normally (this was certainly a one-off) to me it seems as if at €40 a night for single room is about right. Pay more at your risk.

    Awful

    rating25 Sept 2018

Horrendous stay! Second Floor Accommodation to the reception. We were locked out several times, room was bare, doors were jammed, bedside lights didn't work, no mirrors/iron or safe. Rather stay in a budget place.
