    Clean but very basic

The location is incredibly convenient as it is in the city centre but expect no frills whatsoever. Having said that the room was clean, though a little 'tired'. The bed was clean and reasonably comfortable so it is a place to get your head down for a night or two but I wouldn't recommend a long stay. No security so take any valuables out with you!!!

    Good stay

First, as others have said, there is no sign on the street for this hostel. However the cab driver knew exactly where it was. The location is excellent, you can walk to almost everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ac worked great, which was still needed in late September. The bathroom was small, even by European standards, and the towels were a bit threadbare. The beds were quite hard. Overall, I had a nice stay.

    This place is the pits

Expedia needs to remove this property from its inventory. Stayed 11 miserable nights from 5-12 thru 5-23. Bed needs to be thrown away, lots of black mold at the base of the shower, Towels are more like think napkins, was given a towel that was full of holes. No sign to this property (except for a label on the directory), no elevator, halls are dark, place is dingy, dated and noisy. I knew it was 2 star when I booked, but I at least expect clean and it wasn't.

Fantastic location but needs a sign!

I booked this location for three nights (double bedroom) because they had a good deal on booking.com. The location really can't be beat. I took the airport bus to Plaza de Cibeles and it was only a short walk from there. Fortunately, I had read the reviews on tripadvisor and knew to look for the Hostal Oporto sign, as there was no sign for Hostal Las Cortes except for on the doorbell, which isn't the first place most people look. My brother who had arrived before me had a difficult time finding it because of this. They also did not have the room ready when he arrived that evening. The pros: beds were comfortable, wifi worked well, we had a tv and microwave, and a small breakfast was provided in the room. The breakfast consisted of juice, milk, tea/hot chocolate, cereal, and cookies. It was good to have in the morning before our day started. We also had a window to let in fresh air. It is also situated on a quiet street. The cons: the shower curtain barely functioned as one and the shower didn't work too well, the toilet would make strange, loud noises, and there would be an odd smell in there occasionally. I think it needs an upgrade. Overall, the price can't be beat for what you get and how close it is to everything. They just need a better sign outside!

Excellent except the size and orientation of the room

We took a quadruple room as we were 2 couples. This is located right about this vegetarian restaurant called Al Natural Vegetariano. The only signboard you can see is of Hostel Oporto. This BnB is on the second floor of the building and you could easily miss it without this piece of information.Pros :Affordable, centre of the city (walkable from Museo del Prado), packed breakfast (of milk, hot chocolate, coffee powder, muesli, jams, croissants) kept (included in the room cost) along with a microwave, maintained neatly.Cons :The room was a weird shape with one double bed and 2 single beds (in another attached smaller room). Bathroom was quite tiny too. And there was almost no extra space to keep our luggage. And biggest issue - no elevator. We had to carry our heavy bags up two flights of stairs which was quite painful.
