    Two nights stay at this hostel and no complaints at all from us.Ideally situated just off Gran Via on the 3rd floor of an old historic building. It is located at the side of the plaza which we overlooked from our small balcony. We were concerned initially that it would be noisy as it seemed to be a popular meeting place and there were several eating places and bars ,shops etc but the room had excellent double glazing and once closed you couldn't hear anything. The room itself was small but perfectly clean and had everything you need for a short stay.Toiletries and towels were provided and the beds extremely comfortable. Air-conditioning and wifi was included in the price and both were good.The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. There is an option to pay and eat breakfast at a neighbouring hotel and also a vending machine for drinks and snacks. We would definitely return if visiting Madrid again.

    Positive :- hotel, room and bathroom are clean- quite house with respectful personnel in front desk.- well situated, shop and coffee in proximity Negative :- situated in old square with dirty people walking around, police coming to chase them from time to time… make me, my family and child a bit inconfortable - the hotel made me pay for an extra bed for my child, even if I made the total reservation price - via BOOKING - including 2 adult and 1 child ( they say in BOOKING that child stay is for free ). In your case, since your child was over this age, the corresponding supplement was applied according to the platform rules.     Great location at a budget price

    For those wanting an excellent location on a budget this is the place to go. Set a few hundred yards off the Gran Via, this HOSTEL has all you need. It is not a 5* hotel so you shouldnt expect it to be however, it has all you will need in a very clean and well appointed rooms at very reasonable prices. The beds are really comfortable with clean and fresh linen and toiletries are supplied. All you can eat breakfasts can be obtained and arranged at the hotel opposite for €10 pp. The staff at the Vazquez are wonderfully helpful and we would like to thank Kristina especially for making our stay enjoyable. All attractions are within easy walking distance so no need to use public transport, just buy a street map!. You can stay at high end hotels for a great deal more, but if you want a clean but simple room in a great location, you couldn't do better than the Vazquez de Mellor in my opinion!

    Simple, clean, safe, a good value

    A sensible, no-frills place to stay. Clean and mostly quiet. It is on the third floor of a large building with other hostels on the other floors. We appreciated the staff who were very kind. The bed was immaculate. Do not expect any amenities such as a fridge in the room, shampoo, or a coffee pot. There is no parking but it is across the street from a plaza with underground parking. It is two blocks off the Gran Via, 20 colorful minutes walk to the Prado or the Reina Sofia museums. The plaza looks a little down-at-heels but it supports a Starbucks and other small businesses. We were pleased with the price.
