Location

This hotel is situated in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 50 km from Madrid. It is located opposite the historic monastery founded by Felipe II and which is considered to be the Eighth Wonder of the World. The Casita del Príncipe is just a short walk away. The train station is approximately 1 km away.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 9 suites, 8 single rooms and 33 double rooms located in two 3-storey buildings with lifts. Guests are warmly welcomed by English-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday.     Very close to the town sights, particularly the monastery, but no views. Room was disappointing because the bathroom extractor fan was not working (and not fixed during our two nights stay) nor was the room temperature controller. The walls allowed a lot of noise from the next room to disturb us until 3am on the second night. Staff were generally very helpful, but the place had a run down feel to it. Breakfast buffet was good. We were on a group tour so our experience might be different to solo travelers.

    Perfectly located in San Lorenzo, with views to the monastery. But, inside it seems the The furniture, doors and bathroom have not been renovated since ages. Old fashioned and creepy. The price is low but it not worth. It is disappointing and a shame that a so good located hotel is not updated.

    We decided to escape the 36 degrees Madrid for a couple of nights and go to the mountains and an aircon room.We ended up staying an extra night, because we loved our room and this town and the service at the Hotel Florida.We are staying in the Junior Suit and the room definitely met out expectations and even exceeded them.A large room with 3 window/balconies and a very lager bathroom with another window/balcony, all facing El Monastery del Escorial.The Bed is king size and very very comfortable. The bathroom has a spa and a shower that is a through-back to 70's luxury - it has hydromassage options, standing, sitting, sauna, radio and even telephone (didn't try the phone).There is a small fridge ready for you to fill up and more cupboard space than you will need.The price is very fair and you get a lot for your $ in the room.The staff have been nothing but very helpful and efficient.The location is perfect, just in front of the monastery and in the centre of a gorgeous town. A huge range of options for "copas", lunch or dinner within a few hundred metres.I would highly recommend the Hotel Florida.

    What’s that smell?

    A perfectly positioned hotel within a stones throw of the impressive monastery. Rooms are basic but clean. A/C not great. BUT the thing that stands out is the perpetual smell of smoke. The reception was like a smokehouse!!

    May of 2017,I visited Hotel Florida for the first time with my husband. I loved the town El Escorial and liked a lot Hotel Florida. Nice staff, very friendly and gentle. I had such a great time I returned this year. El Escorial is a small beautiful town. People are happy and very friendly with everyone. The food is so delicious.
